Exactly .....the feud is Cody and rock. But I can say this is karma for burying Rollins every week
Pretty sure it's designed believe it or not, think about that one Roman Reigns and Rock segment that went over 40 minutes long on Smackdown. Look how annoyed Roman looked during that segment, he is getting pissed that Rock is getting all this attention instead of him.

Cody feels like he’s more feuding with Rock instead of Roman.
Seth feels like he’s feuding with Rock more than Drew.
Becky feels like she’s feuding with Liv and Nia and has barely interacted with Rhea.
Bayley feels like she’s feuding with Dakota far more than Iyo.
Logan and Randy have barely interacted.
Etc.
When you bring in more viewers than the rest of the roster combined, yes he plays by different rules. If they could stand out the same way, they would get the same leeway.
The Rock needs to teach his daughter some charisma if she’s gonna stay elevated to where she is.

The problem with giving certain guys passes is that it makes it harder for other guys to get over who can't do the same things. Part timers already have a major advantage when it comes to booking since they're barely around and they tend to be utilized well when they are around. Fans don't have time to get bored of them and their appearances feel special, reinforcing why they get special privileges. This isn't like perks in the back, this literally is one of the reasons why new stars have a harder time getting over to the same level as the older stars.
The only thing Cena did better than Rock was breaking character except the one time Rock did that shoot promo and buried tf out of Cena. Cody can cuss all he wants but he'll never come close to touching The Rock on that microphone.
So as solo said it was a fair fight between rock and cena stop being so grumpy about cena his not there at this moment leave him out of it clown

On one hand I get the frustration of feeling handcuffed but on the other hand you shouldn't need to curse to cut good promos. In the old NWA days guys like Flair and Dusty routinely cut great promos without swearing. If I recall correctly Cena beat the Rock on the mic without swearing much. Punk even once called the Rock out for relying on profanity. If you're a good promo you should be able to get it done without having a pottymouth.
It might be more than profanity tbh. Cody is a pretty savage promo in his own right but he might be handcuffed by WWE’s restrictions. Cena “destroyed” Rock because he had NO restrictions; he was a big star that could say what he wanted. I’ve got a feeling it’s more than profanity.

How is anyone else going to get their programs over if they get handcuffed by time cuts cause 40+ minute Bloodline segments over ran and they have guys swearing while everyone else is told not to do this. From a wrestling fan. AEW & TNA are looking real good right now. WWE RAW & Smackdown have become talk shows. The wrestling has become secondary, and an after thought. You need WWE stars to promote Wrestlemania? We don't have them anymore. But the diluted WWE fans don't care. I only watch WWE, when I don't have to pay extra for it. I know after I watch WWE, I will be disappointed.

The Rock is the biggest star in the world, right now he is carrying wrestling right now. Nobody cares about wrestling anymore, that's why the ratings are trash. Wrestling hasn't mattered for years, it's predictable and everyone knows everything, The Rock is the reason hardcore fans are coming back for a bit. Be happy people are talking about wrestle because when he leaves, WWE is going about to being an afterthought. It's not his fault WWE can't make a mega star anymore, the fact that he is making wrestling relevant for a bit tells you something. I stopped watching wrestling years ago for a reason, I still don't watch it but following the Rocks promo's makes me miss how good WWE was. The Rock is the best thing they got and a bunch of these ungrateful fans need to realize that. Enjoy the extra ratings boast because this will not last forever. I get its the Rock, but they could have people who are able to get over to the same level as the Rock or are as talented as the Rock but they can't achieve even a sliver of the success Rock has had because no matter how much WWE builds them up they will always be held back by the over sanitized rules of WWE. Even if they were to leave, the only other major wrestling promotion is run by a billionaire with what is likely a cocaine addiction. I certainly understand their frustrations if the rumors are true and I'll never understand people just giving a pass to the Rock because he's the Rock. If the Rock can't follow the same rules as everyone to get over then its obvious the rules are what is holding back everything. This is like when boomers tell the younger generation to stop being lazy. Like look here you old Fck. Our generation on average is already working multiple jobs and more than 40 hours a week and we still statistically have a much of a chance of owning a house as that 3 year old Chinese kid making Nike shoes for 25 cents an hour. "To same level as the Rock" BREAKING NEWS: Pro Wrestling in 2024 is not that popular anymore & never will be in this Internet+Social Media Era. Entertainment content is too voluminous, wrestling talent are too omnipresent & visible.
I'm a fan of the indie scene as well as WWE. No one is on the Rock's level in terms of his charisma for his OWN character. That said I don't think other Superstars are bad promo cutters at all, I think everyone needs to be their own character and I do agree you need less scripted segments, but to argue that those are the main reasons people don't get over, I disagree and agree at the same time.
A shitty promo that's designed to make people look like idiots that aren't for comedy can be very off-putting. But a promo that is clearly trying to build a story more so than getting down to being about insults it 10 times more compelling. Like Cody doesn't need to say jack shit to Rock or Roman, he simply needs to say "I have earned this, you don't get to pretend I don't, I'm taking that title cause I'm gonna beat you and finish my story" And add more things about why it means so much to him to do it.
At the end of the day it comes down to how effective a character is, not how many insults someone gets in, cause fuck me if insults are the only thing that gets you over then everyone would come off like assholes, rather than as cool. Like Rock and Austin got over with their insults, but they carried those into the factor they were trying to overcome extreme odds that you couldn't help but root for them.
Also yer I hate it when people don't give empathy to the housing crisis stuff, boomer or not people need to just be empathetical to how you can solve things instead of putting people in boxes just cause they don't like a person's tone, there's always more to people than meets the eye.
None of those guys are going to be on Rock's level even if you were to give them more freedom. You either have it or you don't. The roster does not have it & it shows.

I honestly hate this build up. The Rock didn't step aside when Cody vs Roman was restored as the main event, he accepted the decision, but he's still making everything about himself. And I have the feeling, just like his movies, that not Cody nor Seth nor everybody else is allowed to go hard at The Rock or at least not as much as they want to. That The Rock is just not allowed to look too bad. Sure Cena had that chance, but Rock was not on the board back then. If the situation was the same, Cody or Seth would have already thrown the DC debacle thing or the Vin Diesel stuff at Rock. They would have talked about his ego in the details. But Rock wants to look like a justified villain, not a real one. And by doing so, he's ruining the other people involved in the feud. After WrestleMania Rock is gone. Seth and Cody stay. Roman is likely gone however this ends. Rock overshadowing everybody else doesn't do anybody any good. He might very well be the new Vince McMahon when it comes to short sighted decision making in WWE.

He's a got a little writer who's been writing all his material for years. I think recency bias has made fans rewrite history regarding Rock, he was never known as an egotistical backstage politician during his run as the top guy (which was when he needed to be a diva and play backstage politics the most). He lost a lot, way more than he should have, and rarely refused to put someone over. He never had superman booking like Cena, Hogan, and Austin. Just look at his run in 2000 which was his peak year: didn't get a proper blowoff win against Triple H who was his biggest rival (It was Vince Mcmahon who took the pinfall lol), lost clean on free tv against Undertaker while being WWF Champion, lost the title to a rookie Kurt Angle, ate the pin in the 6-man hell in a cell at Armageddon out of all the wrestlers and on top of that, didn't get his crowning moment at Wrestlemania 2000, he’s the only top face in the history of the company to never win the title at Wrestlemania (people actually threw trash in the ring when Triple H won), he also lost 3 back to back Wrestlemanias. He even got pinned by Stephanie McMahon at one point lol there’s no way Cena, Hogan, and Austin or any other top face would accept to do that during their peak years (and rightfully so). The fact that Rock was still the most over guy in the company despite his weak booking is actually impressive. He also put over Angle, Jericho, Lesnar, Goldberg, Benoit (tapped/passed out to him on an episode of Smackdown), Booker T, and even the Hurricane who’s a lower-card comedy gimmick.
This is only my theory but I think the reason why Rock got involved with the current storyline is that after Lesnar and Punk suddenly out of action after the rumble, WWE/TKO felt they needed a bigger name for Wrestlemania season which was why they called The Rock in. It also helps that fans were begging Rock to face Roman for years and the crowd popped when Rock hinted that he will face Roman, so they decided to go along with it. The problem is that the way it was executed was just bad.
I do think its kinda ridiculous that the Rock basically came in and made the entire thing about himself. It feels like Cena vs Miz all over again, and that should never happen.

Just listened to some of your the Dark side of the ring, just a fantastic series.
If I was involved in the program or even just a talent on the roster in general I'd be a bit ticked too with the recent developments with Rock's involvement on TV. Not exactly for outshining everyone although I'm sure that hasn't made many happy. There's also frustration for the fact Roman & Seth have basically had very little to do with the program. Not sure if you heard anywhere but an issue with Rock's promos aside from the double standard is that most of his promos went over long that matches & segments had to be cut short. Basically missing his cues to end it when he needed to. I could understand especially on SD since it's a 2 hour show but only about 90-100 minutes air on TV.

When you look at WWE as a business, The Rock is several grades higher than every active wrestler so of course he gets additional privileges. It's hardly different from how an area manager can have more freedom than than the floor staff.
Having said that, The Rock's promos definitely eat up more time than they should. Especially the entrances.
