This also saved me a couple of hundreds, great work sir. It gave me confidence to install mine too on my 2014 Cruze. But i must still do the fuse box connection, for now i just hooked them on my park lights.
thank you man you saved me a couple hundred I hit a porcupine while driving on snow and he went thru my fog light assembly and cover. it was either hit him or risk sliding and hitting a guardrail
Great video!! as a Gm ASEP student and a Dealership certified technician this video and the way you installed everything was very well done!!! I am very impressed!! The fuse block bolts do have a torque specification. (everything does on a GM car) The spec is 6nm or 53 in lb according to GM Service information. i am also a 2014 cruze owner!! very nice video! Suggestions to doing this install. I suggest taking out the inner wheel fender loose or out all the way typically they are t15 or t 20 or 7mm bolts. or push pins . easier to get to everything by far!! also i would have ran the harness and lights first before the fuse block stuff. makes it easier by far!!! in the end! this was a good do it your self video but like always nothing is better then the dealer doing it for you. The BCM or Body control module needs to be programmed so it knows how to turn the lights on and set codes. Which cost money so just get it all done in one go!! in the end great video!!! Very well done!!
Good tips on running the fog light harness. I'm hoping my car is already prewired for fog lights. 2008 Buick lacrosse CXL. I will mounting after market fogs as the option for fog lights came on the Buick lacrosse Super V-8 model bumper cover only.
I learned when I installed the kit on my 2014 Cruze LT that you only need to have the BCM programmed if your car was manufactured before the 2014 model year. Since my car was manufactured in March of 2014, all I needed to do was install the kit and it worked perfectly.
Note: This kit, GM part 95248415, has been discontinued and is no longer available from Chevrolet dealers. You may still find NOS (New Old Stock) on eBay from time to time though using the link in the description. You may have better luck ordering the individual parts from the numbers I show during the unboxing. The same eBay link in the description will search for those part numbers as well.
Do you know if there is a good aftermarket option since GM discontinued their kit? I have a 2011 Cruze eco and loved your video. I have wanted to update it for years, including the radio, but have been shy about trying it myself. After seeing your great video I feel much more confident about trying this. Thanks again for such a great video!
Thanks. I do not have experience with any aftermarket kits like this so couldn't suggest a particular one. Have you tried setting a saved search from the eBay link in the description? These kits do turn up from time to time. Another option is pulling these parts off of a salvage yard LT. If you do go aftermarket, you should rely on a hands-on review to be sure of the quality and fitment. Nearly all of the imported aftermarket parts are just plain scrap fitment and longevity wise so I do try and avoid them.
I think before snapping the bezel cover back on, it's best to view the lighting at night and make any light alignment screw adjustments, as the adjustment screw is not accessible with the covers in place.
This is a great video. Does anyone know what the connector is on the end of the violet wire, or can we get a better photo of the connector or how to get the connectors out of the fuse block? Sliding out the gray locking plates doesn't release the connectors. The connector is so small, I can see in there and trying with a really small screw driver doesn't release anything. GM doesn't make this kit anymore, so I purchased an aftermarket one along with a new factory light switch. The aftermarket comes with a switch of its own but I want to use all the factor wiring, switches, fuses, etc. except for from the fuse block to the lights. All I need to make this happen is to find the connector to put the wire into the fuse block.
I would suggest hitting a pull your own part salvage yard, like an LKQ. The Cruze LTZ trim level would have had factory fog lights standard, and you can pull the parts you need from that model.
Can you tell me what terminal that is? The one that's crimped onto the wire that you snapped into the back of the fuse block? I bought what I thought was the correct one but its clearly not. I'm attempting to do what you're doing here but with an aftermarket kit.
Thank you so much for making this video. I have been thinking all summer about installing a fog light kit on my 2014 Cruze LT. I was a bit surprised on how easy it was to install and I know working in behind the front bumper can be a pain. The only thing I didn't know was how the electrical leads connected to the electrical system. I was happy to know that since my car was built in March of 2014, I won't need any help from the dealership to install the kit. I think I may be going for the bumper off option simply because I've been considering a pair of aftermarket headlights for my car. I only had one question. Do you need an additional fuse to connect the positive lead underneath the fuse box? Thanks again for the how to video. I'm looking forward to installing one of these kits on my car.
Everything needed comes in the GM kit, there was no need for an additional fuse as Chevrolet built the car pre-wired for this option. You just have the one wire to connect properly to complete the circuit as I show in the vid.
For a 2016 Cruze, i read that BCM programming for a VCI code needs to be done before lights and dash indicator light will work as well as turn off when high beams are active. This doesn’t seem to be the case on the old body style?
This GM kit only applied to the first generation Cruze. There was a production date cutoff for whether or not you needed to enable the BCM option using the MDI scan tool with an acdelcotds.com subscription. Those details are in the video description.
Thanks for the video. Will it be the same procedure for LED running lights? I want to install those, can you make a video or let me know what part numbers I'd need. I also liked your video on installating an amp to the Cruze
Bro can you help me with some problems....i have found out that there is factory wiring for connecting the two fog lamps but there is no positive charge coming from it and i haven't found where is its switch or how to get positive charge into those connectors
If you have the GM OEM factory setup, then the junction box wiring and interior switch should be exactly as I've shown in the video. Power is supplied via the junction box, controlled by the interior switch to the wire I showed inserting into the junction box.
There's a few other comments about this, the Sonic and Malibu used different parts so the kit wouldn't work there. For the Sonic GM did make a kit, but not for the Malibu. Best bet on Malibu or Impala is an LKQ yard and pull what you need.
The main problem is that the fuse is not hot and has to be reprogramed thru the ECM and you must have a number to provide the dealer tech for him to get a program from GM to update the ECM. This will allow the switch to energize the fuse wire and allow the icon on the cluster to operate. The Dealer will require a code from the box the lights came in and only a GM part. This applies to all years and models unless sometime the ECM was programed with fog lights before you got the vehicle.
Larry, dealer Tech2 configuration is only required for certain earlier model years, the cutoff is in the description. I've done this mod on several vehicles now, no dealer involvement was required for any of the later model years which are all pre-configured from the factory for the option kit.
I just completed my 2011 cruze on this past weekend. The circut for the front fog lites is inoperable so I talked with my dealer and they have to have the code from the package to send to GM for a reprogram of the ECM to activate the fog light circuit.
Yep, your 2011 falls into the date range I outlined in the video description as needing the dealer level programming. However, you're getting some misinformation, about a code from the kit package. You don't _have_ to go to the dealer on these btw. The Body Control Module (BCM) can be updated by anyone using a GM MDI scan tool and a subscription to ACDelco TDS. It's just those are expensive tools (but I own them) so for most folks it works out cheaper to take it to the Chevy dealer. You need to know the authorization code for the fog lights (should have been on a sheet in the box) and just call ACDelco to have it added to your VIN. Possibly whoever you spoke with wasn't familiar with this procedure is all.
Yep, that's the whole idea. GM pre-prepped these vehicles to upsell accessories thru their dealers. A kit like this then supplies the missing parts to complete the option for lower end models.
@@DrShock does the dash switch harness have the additional foglight lead to gain the function merely by upgrading the switch to the foglight version? Is there a fuse space prelabelled as "fog" in the engine area fuseblock?
It's been a few years since I did this video, but I don't recall anything with the fuses. Everything should be in the video, it's a complete walk thru of the GM dealer technician installation instructions.
According to Chevrolet yeah - accessories.chevrolet.com/product/front-foglamp-kit-39126996?year=2017&make=Chevrolet&model=Cruze&modelId=16206&body=Sedan&bodyId=5&wheelId=1&trim=LT&trimId=430&drive=FWD&driveId=5&engine=1.4L%20L4%20GAS&engineId=17475&bodyNumDoors=5&categoryId=98024
This video is for the Chevy Cruze, totally different fog setup than the Sonic. Here's a version I did for the earlier generation Sonic that might help - ruclips.net/video/_aO4vyqacn4/видео.html
So this vid is going over installation of the GM factory fog light option kit. The factory fog lights are controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM), and utilize a unique dash switch and associated wiring harness. That included wiring harness has to be plugged into a specific cavity in the junction box (left vacated by the factory) which corresponds specifically to the fog light circuit, for it all to function properly. If you tried to skip that step, you would be tapping into a totally different circuit run, and very likely they wouldn't work at all. Now if you're using my vid just to guide along using an aftermarket set of lights, that wiring could be totally different idk.
My 2013 Malibu has the icon for fog lights on the dash gauges. It doesn’t light up of coarse, because it had no fog lights. But my question is, since it has that icon there does that mean it may be equipped the way your Cruz is?
I don't have experience with the Malubu yet, I would start by seeing if there is a fog light accessory kit that can be ordered from the dealer. If there is such a kit then its very likely.
DrShock ok. Thanks for the quick response. Love the detailed video. I installed an aftermarket kit already on 2013 Malibu, with the plan of connecting it more factory somehow. I have also the factory switch installed. Now have to figure out if there is any way possible to connect the aftermarket fog light kit with my factory switch.
DrShock I have another question or two. If you don’t mind. Does your light come on the gauges by the speedometer when you turn on the fog lights? Also does your fuse box under the hood have fog lights listed as one of the components? Thanks for the help....
Yes, the dash light works just fine since these is done using all GM factory original parts. There is no separate fuse added for the fog lights, it's integrated in the original lighting circui fuse.
Is it the same harness and switch for my 2015 Cruze Lt.be used It seems like the same fuse box location. It seems to look very similar from the switch to the fuse box
Not sure I understand your question. I specifically showed how to disassemble the fuse box, locate and insert the connector pin from the kit. If you mean where can you order just the wire with the pin - I showed the individual GM part numbers during he unboxing. For ordering the pin all by itself, that's possible and it's made by Aptiv. But I do not know the size or part number. Best bet in that situation is perhaps to pull the wire lead from a salvage yard LTZ that came with the fog lights originally.
How much does it cost to get the body control module reprogrammed? I have a 2012. And how much did you pay for this kit on ebay and from what seller? And I didn't see you add a fuse, so does this share off of the headlight fuse and do you have to switch to a higher amp fuse?
This video concerns only the genuine GM part. You buy it from a local GM dealer direct, or a genuine GM parts seller on eBay - just search by the GM part number given in the vid for who is offering it on eBay. There's nothing more to add, everything you need is in the GM box as I show. Chevrolet engineers designed the Cruze to take this option package at the dealer so its fused off the existing wiring harness by design. The only extra step, as I mention in the video, is whether you need to rebuild the BCM options list to enable the fog lights, which depends on when your car was built. The Chevy dealer can do this if needed, or if you have access to a GM MDI scanner and TIS2Web subscription it can be done outside of the dealer.
Oh an the cost if you have to have the dealer do the BCM? Well that varies greatly, I have my own MDI and subscription so I've never had to deal with that but I've heard anywhere from $50 to $250. Depends on your dealer, shop around and get multiple quotes would be my advice on that part.
@@DrShock Dang. I want the install to look factory and professional, but I think I'm going to have to save money and get a $50 aftermarket kit with a separate non factory switch
Hi, Good day bro, There's a concern I'm facing. The concern is that there's a delay when I shift between high and low beam light for alarming the driver in front of me to shift aside or alarming walking people. This delay appears when I'm trying to fast flash the high beam light. Is that related to the control timer on the right side of light control under the steering wheel or what. Waiting for your advise. Regards.
Not really related to this video about fog lights. For this problem I'd first suspect and remove any non-GM add-ons you have in the lighting system circuit. Second I'd look at the high beam switch itself, part of the multi-function stalk.
Yeah, that's the same front end body style as the 2012 Eco this video was shot with. Note the info in the video description though, as with that year you'll likely have to get the body control module programmed to activate the lights after they are installed.
No, not the same kit but they made a similar one for the Sonic. If you scroll thru the comments I believe the part number was mentioned in an older comment here.
This is an older video, at the time these kits were readily available from GM. But GM discontinued them during the pandemic so now you can only find them as an NOS part using one of the search links in the description and setting up a notification when one is listed.
It could be the wrong headlamp switch is installed, check for the wiring harness ends behind the front bumper capsules. If it's not there, it's just someone used the wrong switch when doing a different repair.
I'm not familiar with whether there is a GM option for the Impala, but you could check accessories.chevrolet.com/ and if so it would give you the part number.
Sir, How did you find out the exact pin location to put the wire for front fog ? Like you opened the fuse box, went deep beneath the box actually and mentioned the exact location that is opposite to big yellow wire and next to grey wire. I am trying to find l such pin location for rear fog lamps. Help please.
The GM factory fog kit is for fronts only and includes written instructions that outline all that I showed in the video, the video is just to make it easier than reading text with no pictures. Ideally you would use my video alongside the GM instruction sheet. The GM factory instructions will ONLY apply to their kit, not aftermarket. Never heard of a GM rear fog option being sold for a first gen Cruze in the USA so no idea on that.
This might help you, as it shows the European Cruze fog light switch wiring for the rear, and that forum is a good place to ask your question - www.cruzetalk.com/forum/137-gen1-audio-electrical-tutorials/104378-good-news-everyone-oem-non-fog-light-switch-can-made-trigger-fogs.html
There's a link in the description, I just tried it myself and see at least 4 sellers offering the kit. It's GM part 95248415 as the link I have shows all the related parts you can just look for that one. Ebay is almost always cheaper, but you can also try your local GM dealer as the kit is still in production.
I'm attempting to add fog lights to my 2015 LT, I understand the kit is different but do you know if just the wiring harness you used can work? For the life of me I can't find any part corresponding to the 15
The kit I go over in this video only shows applicable thru 2014. Starting in 2016 the front plastic fascia design changed in the Cruze, and the fog light kit design changed to fit it. The part number for the newer generation kit is 39126996, but the parts manual doesn't show it applicable to 2015 either. So yeah, interesting I see the problem. This is something where I think you have to swing by your local friendly neighborhood Chevrolet dealer and present the problem. Sometimes I have seen GM make mistakes in listing years covered by a part. And sometimes I have seen design changes that cause a particular model year to no longer be compatible with an accessory. If you didn't care about the full kit, you might try searching on a site like gmpartsgiant.com for 2015 against the harness part number I list from the full kit and see if that shows compatible, and if not what the alternate numbers the site gives.
No, I did not have to do the BCM update with this year and model. If you end up with that problem, it's a simple enough procedure at the local Chevrolet dealer. Alternatively a local shop with a GM MDI scan tool and active ACDelco TDS subscription can also enable the BCM for the fog light option.
That wire and pin is part of the factory kits wiring harness, there's no circuit bypass here this is genuine GM. The car is designed for this option to be added, just by the dealer rather than the assembly line. There is a part number just for the wiring harness that you can order from your Chevy dealer, I call that out in the video when unboxing the kit.
The description for this video highlights the BCM cutoff dates for when you need to either take the vehicle into the dealer to be calibrated for this option, or you need to find someone with a GM Tech2 or MDI scan tool to perform it for you otherwise.
My car has builtin front fog lamps. In dashboard it also has option for rear fog lights. Could u please help me how to install rear fog lights on my car.
That would only be a 2013 and up option, there was no GM upgrade kit for this. Believe the only path here is an aftermarket harness and picking up the receiver, display and trim bezels from a salvage yard vehicle.
GM has discontinued the first generation Cruze one, but you can still find them on eBay. Link in the description. A salvage yard like LKQ is another source for the parts I described in the kit.
Doesn't look like it, here's the official chevrolet.com list of 2015 Malibu accessories - accessories.chevrolet.com/search/2015/Chevrolet/Malibu#/12001/Accessories?sortId=top
If you mean the metal piece crimped onto the end of the wire, that's called a terminal connector. The connector then in turn snaps into a plastic housing, which in GM vehicles is often referred to as a Metri-Pack series electrical connection. While they are sold separately by Aptiv (what Delphi got spun off into) I'm not aware of the particular part number used for this fog light harness type.
@@DrShock I’ve been looking for that small piece online and in stores for hours now, I can’t find it. I knew it was a female terminal connector but I don’t know which one specifically, there are so many out there. I was hoping to get the dimensions of it so I can check Aptiv out for the product #, you wouldn’t happen to know what size or gauge, would you?
You won't find a Metri-Pack terminal anywhere brick and mortar, not even at a GM dealer as they wouldn't service this. Instead they would just order a whole harness. It'll have to be a mouser.com or digikey.com type of sourcing, or once the Aptiv part number is known then possibly on eBay. This video was many years ago, and I don't recall the specifics there. Best bet would be to hit a local LKQ salvage yard, look for any Cruze in the model year range of this video with factory fog lights. You could then pull the wire and have an example of the correct size to compare with on the Aptiv catalog.
@@DrShock seems to me that, that specific terminal is unavailable until late 2023… with that being said I think now, my best bet is to test different terminals to see if I can find an interchangeable one See, what I’m trying to do is get a fog light assembly with a separate switch (bc they’re cheaper) and cut that switch off, then just cramp the terminal onto the wire and connect it to the circuit.
Mentioned in the video the factory assembly date cutoffs for requiring a BCM recalibration. If it has to be done, it can only be done using a GM MDI scan tool and a paid subscription to ACDelco TDS, usually cheaper to just pay the GM dealer to do it.
It's going to vary alot by your location, but given how trivial it is you should call around for quotes. It's only a few minutes of tech time, but shops will want to charge a minimum. The minimum time rate should be public. You can also try non-GM garages, anyone with an GM MDI tool can do it.
The switch part number is shown at 1:50 but I don't know what else it might fit. The fog light kit it was included in here is only for the Cruze but that doesn't mean that the individual parts like this are not used on other models. You would have to check with your Chevy dealer parts department, or an online GM parts website to confirm.
I provided the GM part numbers during the unboxing, you might try your local Chevrolet dealer and ask them to do a parts search. Even for discontinued parts, they can tell if _any_ dealer in the country has one left on the shelf.
@DrShock I did a look online through GM parts, and nothing came up on the wiring harness. I did a screenshot and saved every number you provided. I will check with my local Chevrolet dealer this coming week, but I am not hopeful
@DrShock Also, shouldn't this work for a 2015 chevy cruze since it's still 1st generation? 2011-2015 are the same except for a speaker on the dash in place of the compartment
There are several changes that started in 2015. It's been a few years, but as best I recall a customer attempted this upgrade on a 2015 and found that the fog light mounting area in the bumper had been changed. GM does not specify this option as fitting the 2015, so this could be the reason.
Not aware of a GM kit for the Malibu. You'll probably have to assemble it by hand (relay, switch and harness, fog light assemblies and harness, and front bumper bezel covers for the fog light option). Like would need BCM programming as well.
I watched the whole video and got excited to put this in my car. Then he said if your car was built before some time in 2013 you'll need to get a body control module and reprogramming for it. Ugh
Is there a way to wire aftermarket fog lights to the OEM light switch 13295227? I've seen other cars do this wondering if anyone figured out a way for the Cruze?
I think if you remove any included relay from the aftermarket fogs, and run the power feed cable to the number 48 fuse position (as shown in the video) and install the OEM light switch with the fog option, it's good to go.
@@RUclipsrMe68 The wire running from the fogs just needs a 280 Series connector (#12034046 or #12129424 depending on your wire gauge) put on. You can also purchase short leads with the connector already crimped on (#13575773 ).
Did you try the link in the video description? Still see many listings on eBay. GM has discontinued this kit recently, so you can't get it from Chevrolet anymore. It's only going to be Old Stock like you would find on eBay now.
This is the genuine GM factory option set. You can get it at your local Chevrolet dealer. I bought my on eBay, where you can almost always get the same exact part number for far less.
I've not personally done it on that year, but the GM lists the part as fitting 2011 thru 2014. Note that the kit has now been discontinued by GM since last year, so you'll need to move fast to find someone still selling one.
This particular GM kit is only for the Cruze. I know they make one for the Sonic and Equinox as well. But I don't think they have one for the Malibu. What I've seen in forums is folks assemble the parts either ordering them individually from GM parts dealers or via salvage yard Malibu's and do it that way instead.

If you have the GM OEM factory setup, then the junction box wiring and interior switch should be exactly as I've shown in the video. Power is supplied via the junction box, controlled by the interior switch to the wire I showed inserting into the junction box.
Awesome video thank you!!
I need that wiring kit but cannot find it anywhere.
Would that same harness work for a 2013 malibu? The lights switch and the fuse box are the same ones in your car and on the malibu.
Excellent , thank you sir.
After connecting the new wire pin to the fuse block, was a fuse added and wouldn't that require two new pins which the added fuse would bridge?
No, everything else is pre-installed by GM when the Cruze was originally assembled.
@@DrShock Would a Cruze without factory equipped fogs be pre-wired/fused for fogs?
Yep, that's the whole idea. GM pre-prepped these vehicles to upsell accessories thru their dealers. A kit like this then supplies the missing parts to complete the option for lower end models.
@@DrShock does the dash switch harness have the additional foglight lead to gain the function merely by upgrading the switch to the foglight version? Is there a fuse space prelabelled as "fog" in the engine area fuseblock?
It's been a few years since I did this video, but I don't recall anything with the fuses. Everything should be in the video, it's a complete walk thru of the GM dealer technician installation instructions.
i would recommend to take the bumper off, much much easier to install. bumper is very easy to remove
Not necessary at all.
Hello great video and very helpful! Question would this work on a 2017 Chevy Cruze Lt ? To install fog lamp ?
Only thru 2014 for this video, the front end was redesigned after that. It would be a different kit, GM 39126996
@@DrShock ok great thanks so this GM 39126996 would work?
According to Chevrolet yeah - accessories.chevrolet.com/product/front-foglamp-kit-39126996?year=2017&make=Chevrolet&model=Cruze&modelId=16206&body=Sedan&bodyId=5&wheelId=1&trim=LT&trimId=430&drive=FWD&driveId=5&engine=1.4L%20L4%20GAS&engineId=17475&bodyNumDoors=5&categoryId=98024
Hi good day I'm looking for the size and amperage of my Chevy sonic fog light buld for the 2018 sedan
This video is for the Chevy Cruze, totally different fog setup than the Sonic. Here's a version I did for the earlier generation Sonic that might help - ruclips.net/video/_aO4vyqacn4/видео.html
For connecting to the fog fuse can you not just have a fuse tap rather than going under the fuse box to connect
GM only specifies this part number for 2011 thru 2014. So probably not.
Hello. Do you know how can I find the pin for the fuse box conection ?
Hi,
Good day bro,
There's a concern I'm facing.
Where can I find one of those tools you used to take the bolts out of the fuse box?
The manual ratchet wrench was a Craftsman and the electric was a Milwaukee. I'd say eBay.
Спасибо большое
my car is chevy cruze eco 2013 does this fog light kit work for me 2013
Yeah, that's the same front end body style as the 2012 Eco this video was shot with. Note the info in the video description though, as with that year you'll likely have to get the body control module programmed to activate the lights after they are installed.
Hi, I have a 2015 chevy sonic without the fog light option. I'd like to add fog lights, would this be the same as the cruz?
No, not the same kit but they made a similar one for the Sonic. If you scroll thru the comments I believe the part number was mentioned in an older comment here.
I finally got an opportunity to do a video for the Chevy Sonic kit here - ruclips.net/video/_aO4vyqacn4/видео.html
Where did you get the fog lights and wiring from
This is an older video, at the time these kits were readily available from GM. But GM discontinued them during the pandemic so now you can only find them as an NOS part using one of the search links in the description and setting up a notification when one is listed.
Thank you ….
Your video help me out huge but I was missing the clip that goes in the bottom of fuse box so I made one with a soder iron
So my 2012 chevy cruze has the fog control but no lights could you please help me?
It could be the wrong headlamp switch is installed, check for the wiring harness ends behind the front bumper capsules. If it's not there, it's just someone used the wrong switch when doing a different repair.
Ok thank you and when I looked under bumper it looks like there is wiring harness maybe the previous owner took them out
Great video thankyou
This is great! How would I get a genuine kit for my 2013 Chevy Impala? Thanks.
@@DrShock thanks for replies. Sir If you could share your email i will share few pics, by looking may be u could find it out for me.
@drshock I would like to purchase this kit but can’t find it on EBay any ideas?
There's a link in the description, I just tried it myself and see at least 4 sellers offering the kit. It's GM part 95248415 as the link I have shows all the related parts you can just look for that one. Ebay is almost always cheaper, but you can also try your local GM dealer as the kit is still in production.
DrShock sadly I tried to look for my cruze..2016 cruze limited lt...$199..still gonna look around..thank you for your time and video..
@@DrShock thanks for replying. I appreciate your input
@@DrShock would it work for a 2012 model?
@@pinedapineda8988 The Cruze I show in the video is a 2012 ;-)
@@DrShock i appreciate it. One last question i have a red and black wire should it work putting the red where you put the purple. Thank you
The vehicle illustrated is a 2012 Cruze ECO. Did you have the control module reprogrammed? BTW.. Great Video! My car was built on 8/14.
No, I did not have to do the BCM update with this year and model. If you end up with that problem, it's a simple enough procedure at the local Chevrolet dealer. Alternatively a local shop with a GM MDI scan tool and active ACDelco TDS subscription can also enable the BCM for the fog light option.
Do you know the name of the pin at the end of the purple wire?, and where to got one? Would prefer to use one and not a circuit bypass.
DrShock what was the production date you gave?my cruze is a 2014
The description for this video highlights the BCM cutoff dates for when you need to either take the vehicle into the dealer to be calibrated for this option, or you need to find someone with a GM Tech2 or MDI scan tool to perform it for you otherwise.
My car has builtin front fog lamps. In dashboard it also has option for rear fog lights. Could u please help me how to install rear fog lights on my car.
I've not heard of a USA factory option for rear fogs on a first gen so I'm not familiar with that installation.
Question, do you have a link to buying the mylink infotainment system for this car?
That would only be a 2013 and up option, there was no GM upgrade kit for this. Believe the only path here is an aftermarket harness and picking up the receiver, display and trim bezels from a salvage yard vehicle.
Where can I buy the whole kit that you installed Great video
GM has discontinued the first generation Cruze one, but you can still find them on eBay. Link in the description. A salvage yard like LKQ is another source for the parts I described in the kit.
Will that same harness work for a 2013 malibu?
GM lists this kit as only for a Cruze thru 2014.
Is there a way to make them stay on and not have to turn them on all the time?
Not with the factory wiring harness design, GM designed these as part of a new manually operated switch (which is included in their kit).
very nice video!
Do you know if they have this kit for a 2015 Chevy Malibu LT??
Doesn't look like it, here's the official chevrolet.com list of 2015 Malibu accessories - accessories.chevrolet.com/search/2015/Chevrolet/Malibu#/12001/Accessories?sortId=top
What is the name (or product #) of the piece that’s at the end of the purple wire?
@@DrShock seems to me that, that specific terminal is unavailable until late 2023… with that being said I think now, my best bet is to test different terminals to see if I can find an interchangeable one
See, what I’m trying to do is get a fog light assembly with a separate switch (bc they’re cheaper) and cut that switch off, then just cramp the terminal onto the wire and connect it to the circuit.
Where are the link to buy the pieces especially harness
it's a GM kit including the harnesses as shown in the video. Link in the vid description
someone knows if you have to reprogram yourself when you put the fog lights on and how
Mentioned in the video the factory assembly date cutoffs for requiring a BCM recalibration. If it has to be done, it can only be done using a GM MDI scan tool and a paid subscription to ACDelco TDS, usually cheaper to just pay the GM dealer to do it.
DrShock any idea on the price for having the dealership reprogram?
It's going to vary alot by your location, but given how trivial it is you should call around for quotes. It's only a few minutes of tech time, but shops will want to charge a minimum. The minimum time rate should be public. You can also try non-GM garages, anyone with an GM MDI tool can do it.
DrShock thank you! And thank you for the detailed video. Definitely made it easier for me on the purchase/install deciding.
Would the switch work on a chevy sonic? Its the same shape
The switch part number is shown at 1:50 but I don't know what else it might fit. The fog light kit it was included in here is only for the Cruze but that doesn't mean that the individual parts like this are not used on other models. You would have to check with your Chevy dealer parts department, or an online GM parts website to confirm.
I finally got an opportunity to do a video dedicated to the Chevy Sonic version here - ruclips.net/video/_aO4vyqacn4/видео.html
This work on 2015 model?
No, gen1 only
I can find the bezels, the lights, and the switch for my 2015 cruze. But no harness like this
I provided the GM part numbers during the unboxing, you might try your local Chevrolet dealer and ask them to do a parts search.
How can i add fog lights to my 2014 chevy Malibu ls without fog lights
Not aware of a GM kit for the Malibu. You'll probably have to assemble it by hand (relay, switch and harness, fog light assemblies and harness, and front bumper bezel covers for the fog light option). Like would need BCM programming as well.
I watched the whole video and got excited to put this in my car. Then he said if your car was built before some time in 2013 you'll need to get a body control module and reprogramming for it. Ugh
Or just install the fog lights and wire it seperatelu with switch and guala
Same! Mine was built in 9/2011
Will it work for the sonic to
no, not the same GM kit but they do make one. If you go thru the earlier comments, there's one with the part number for the Sonic below
where does the purple wire go and black wires go in the fuse bose on 2015 Cadillac Srx
I would relocate that ambient temp sensor if I were you. It reads inaccurately too warm during the day because the sun warms up that black plastic.
@@johnd9541 I was curious about this also, but what end goes on that wire so it clicks into place like in the video
@@RUclipsrMe68 The wire running from the fogs just needs a 280 Series connector (#12034046 or #12129424 depending on your wire gauge) put on. You can also purchase short leads with the connector already crimped on (#13575773 ).
