- This 15 mile day hike starts at the Blacktail trailhead in Yellowstone National Park. This is the time of year to do this hike because it is not too hot and everything is turning green. Later in the summer it will be hot and dry in this area. It is so nice to get out and away from everything and enjoy peace and quiet in Gods beautiful creation.
Excellent comment at 9:52. I go out into the wilds of Utah almost on a daily basis hiking, mountain biking, fly fishing or backcountry skiing. Thank you for recording these incredible hikes in Yellowstone.
The sign of a fan. I check this every day. Just in case you’ve been out again. Happy spring. Gonna be a weather filled week
Such beautiful scenery and the majestic elk and buffalo. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely stunning video of beautiful Yellowstone Stan, thank you for all you do for those of us who would never see such beauty otherwise!
Wonderful video…❤Yellowstone, but afraid of the brown bears, so I hike in the Sierras!
Grizzly bears in Yellowstone are the ones we didn't want to encounter backpacking 😜
Beautiful hike thanks Stan - so great to be able to see Yellowstone through your eyes.
Great video. We are so blessed to live in this area.
Great day you had for this beautiful hike. Love the scenery , so nice to see all the green grass growing and the river was nice to see. So peaceful and just was waiting for to see a bear run out! Thank you for a great video and a lot of miles and quite the climb nice job!
I’ll be there in August for my 4th visit in 3 years. Love hiking in Yellowstone!
Thanks for sharing. I’m planning to be in that area for a backpack in less than a month so it is good to see the trails and ground so clear
Absolutely beautiful place is really peaceful and fresh air.
Nice! Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful area Stan! River sounds/looks like it is moving fast from the snow melt. Nice trail! Warming up a bit too! Thanks for taking us along!! Couldn’t agree with you more on getting away from the television. Well said!!
Simply amazing…….only wish I were there!
I was happy to see a new video from you Stan. I always enjoy your hikes at Yellowstone NP. I would be a little paranoid if I was hiking alone there. Especially if I came across a pack of wolves or a grizzly bear. I go on a lot of hikes in the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon and Washington.
Nice basalt colonnade at 6:19. What a treat!
10:14 fair enough - but what if we miss something on TV that’s never shown again!??
Stan - I know you’re not doing this for the views, or as some kind of exhaustive video guidebook of the park…but I would definitely love to see you do a hike or two in the southern third of the park this summer, which I’ve never spent much time in. I enjoy the content wherever you are, but that undiscovered country would be fun.
Yes...peace...👍🇨🇦😎
Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
So nice area i like it. thank you for this video.❤
Thanks for doing what you do!
Amen to all you said! Thank you again for sharing that wonderful hike with us.😍
Thank you, Stan, as always, for taking us along on your hikes. I’m glad you’re back out there and hope we’ll see more from you soon. Safe travels.
One of my favorite hikes in the park. Have done it many times. Coming back out has become a grind. Probably my all time favorite is blacktail to hellroaring. About same distance and easier exit if you have two cars.
👍👍🌹🌹❤❤🌹🌹👌👌
Thanks.
Awesome video, Stan. We absolutely love Yellowstone. God's beautiful creation on full display! Thank you for sharing this with us! ❤
Heading over that way in a few weeks
Yup
I'll be back in Yellowstone in September, please recommend a good day hike trail. Something like this is doable for me
This is a beautiful trail. I will be in Yellowstone in September, what trails would you recommend I hike at that time if year? I hike solo, 10 to 15 mile day hikes are fine foe me.
Thanks
Beautiful time of the year to visit Yellowstone.
Now it's called Blacktail Trail. For decades, it was called "Blacktail Deer Creek Trail" and I like both names
Your videos are so enjoyable Stan. Thanks so much and keep them coming. Do you always hike solo ? Is it more enjoyable solo? I think it could be for me.
90% of the time. Hiking solo in grizzly country adds a different dimension that I can’t really explain.
@@StanMills I think I get it.
Hey Stan, snowpack looking pretty light this year. Although Yellowstone is a pretty big place. What do you think, below average year? I’ll be out three weeks end of May to mid June. Beautiful video as always.
Below average. That will be a good time to be here.
What date was this filmed?
April 22
@@StanMills wow didn’t think it would be that free of snow and ice this early
Nice video. I’ve done the Hellroaring to Blacktail hike twice, the second time in 2022. The second time going up to Blacktail Trailhead from the footbridge was really rough, even though I thought I was in good shape, was warm day too, I must be getting old…
Hi Stan. I’m a beginner backpacker and looking to do a multi day hike backpacking trip in Wyoming. I have a cabin in Union pass area. I was wondering if you recommend a good backpack trip in that area?
Stan, I noticed you never run into other hikers on your hikes. Is this because of the time of year? I assume these trails are more heavily trafficked in the summer months?
I did see one hiker. 99.9% of hikers go no further than 3 miles. So I don’t normally see people past the 3 mile mark. But I normally do see people at 3 miles and less.
Amen.
I'm not sure if there's anything you can do about it Stan but the bastards at RUclips have hunting commercials on your video. Disgusting.
Hey Stan, this was out and back trail hike?
I can answer that for you. Yes it was a in and out day hike . One of the best. I've done it many times. But it is 4 miles DOWN HILL to the bridge. So you know what that means.
So glad you did Blacktail Trail. Friend and I three night backpacked it in fall 2020 (1Y5, 1R3, 1Y7). Cool to see where we pitched our tents and took a few pictures (rock in three trees) along the way. There was a bison skull near that overlook of the lake. Site 1R3 had at least 8 big sheds collected there and a great rock outcrop above Yellowstone river at the back and to the left, if get that far or come in from the other end some day. Thanks for sharing your hikes, knowledge, and love of nature.
The bison skull is still there. Even took a video of it but didn’t put it in this video.
I love and totally agree with your comments during the video!!! I receive peace through your videos. God bless you.
