Happy New Year everyone!!
When you start mentioning the numbers you did for the updates needed in the next year, I think you have already made a very good case for going with a newer model to run with. Thanks for the continued information, really appreciate your insight
Thanks Kevin!
35 years in trucking here and 25 years owner operator. Sell your truck o3f that truck being in salts. Your frame gona rust and wiring will get worst. Save your money and buy decent truck you can afford. Dont matter how much you spend on maintenance. You can claim that end of year with taxes. Happy new year and be safe. God Bless !!!
Happy new year!
Im a bco... my largest settlement was 7100 for the week. Sometimes a dedicated account pays off
Thanks for sharing
I wish I had the mechanical skills you do. Glad the Landstar gig is working. I’m about to apply to them and be an owner operator again.
Good luck! 👍
Landstar is probably the best company to run for. They care about their drivers.
good stuff
Geez just ran into your channel, new subscriber, think I'm gonna like your channel. 👍 Happy new year 🎉
Thanks! Welcome! Happy new year!
Congratulations ‼
Thanks
Ryan, you're doing everything right. But you are over looking something, and leaving money on the table.
The escrow. By taking the full amount, you can increase your share of the linehaul by 3.5% and that's a considerable amount over the year.
Landstar DOES NOT take their 35 from the escrow amount. Only the remaining linehaul. If you contact them, they will confirm this.
As an example: $10k linehaul gives $6500 to the truck. By taking 10% escrow, it gives $6850 to the truck.
No, it's not in your bank. But you do have immediate access to it whenever you need it.
Congrats on a good year. All the best in 2021.
Thanks Mark!
Happy New Years!
Happy new year!!
Who, seriously, dozed off during this?!?!?
check out international used truck center looks like they come with a warranty and have cummings engines.
Thanks! Will look into it!
Happy New year!
Happy new year Bob!
There was a Landstar BCO started one about 13 years ago they cut that guy loose ! They don't want BCO to have a platform to air company issues
Do you mean another Landstar BCO started the RUclips channel 13 years ago?
@@truckingandfixing yes landstar BCO
Thanks, Ryan for addressing my question. Happy New Year to you, Sophia, and the family. You are a good businessman with a lot of insight and wisdom. Your channel is excellent and decent for all ages. If you were to advise a person on buying a truck what financial institution would you advise them to use. From your opinion what would you warn them to watch out for? Continue being safe and keep those wheels turning!
Thanks Claude! I am planning to make a video about truck buying advice. Please stay tuned!
Those are the best when u can hit those weeks I’ve done that kind of revenue 2 times here at Landstar but it’s beautiful when u can do it. !! Happy New Years my friend !!
Happy new year!
Thanks for sharing your numbers with us as an inspiration to get out there and get it done. Happy New Year to you and your family. I'd love to hear about your specs that you look for in a new truck, whether you get a new one or now, and more importantly what specs you look to stay away from. Things like motor models like you hinted at, rear end ratios, tire sizes, old fleet truck vs. OO spec, and heck, even truck brands. As always, enjoy your vids and look forward to seeing the new AC's. WLBS Ken
Thanks, happy new year to you and your family as well! I will make a video about the truck buying advice soon! Stay tuned!
That’s pretty good. The highest I made was $7k take home over here at JBHUNT... Be safe driver , Keep Truckin HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
Happy new year!
Awesome video. I want to come aboard soon myself. Running out of Texas
Good luck! Thanks
Happy New Year !!!
Thanks! Happy new year!
I am at three gallons in between 10 thousand mile oil changes on my cummins isx 2250. I'm thinking either trade it or get an inframe, also got a quote for 6 new injectors at Cummins and they came back with 10k at this point Id rather get a newer truck later down the road same as you.
Thanks for sharing!
Congratulations! Thanks for the "end of year" summary. New O/O on a good deal now, but looking at LS if this goes down the crapper.
Thanks! Good luck!
WOW! Congratulations Ryan this is awesome and definitely goes back to what you talked about when you said that week is one of the best in the trucking industry. I didn't get to run that week unfortunately because my truck is still in the shop getting the regen issue looked at. For some reason my truck will not perform a passive regen while I am driving. The last couple of weeks I had to pull over every other day to perform a forced regen and it was starting to become a real nuisance. So I had no choice but to put it in the shop. And as you know with it being such a holiday filled couple weeks things have been moving slowly over here. Not to say I don't love the holidays or anything but right now they are more of a nuisance than anything else lol.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to you Ryan and Sophia. Hope this kind of good fortune keeps up for you in 2021. Stay safe out there my friend!
Thanks Joshua. Happy new year to you and your family!
I like your hat, gross revenue doesn't mean a thing, its dollars in the pocket.
👍Ryan..
Looking good so are you still planning too do reefer loadbord review
I don’t do reefer, so I might not be a good resource for it! Sorry

Happy New year, I'm in Medina, Oh . Would like to sit and talk one day with you if you have some time to help out a pretty new owner operator
Sure! Could you find our Facebook page Road-Field-Home with Ryan and Sophia. And connect with us there to set up a time to meet in person.
FIND AN 03 OR OLDER TRUCK AND START REBUILDING ONE THOSE
many carrier won't take older trucks, unfortunately.
What your opinion on owning your own trailer at landstar.
I don't have my own trailer. But if I have enough cash to buy a trailer, I would do so. You will make more money in the end. However, if you don't have the cash in the bank. I would suggest to use Landstar trailer, because we don't need to worry about trailer maintainance.
At 7:09 it shows your ytd earnings. Is that pre tax? And could you do a video explaining how taxes, and other post settlement bills work. Would be a great education tool for those of us looking into this. Thanks!
I asked too early. Lol.
They don't take out the taxes you have to do that
Thanks for sharing your number Ryan.
Thanks Tom!
I applied to landstar but not sure if I can get it... I still need to find a truck. Its hard for first time buyers...
Yes, I can totally understand. I am planning to get another truck soon, will post a video about my thought process, stay tuned on that. Good luck!
Always talking gross is misleading to some folks. I talk money to the truck IE money in your pocket before expenses after LS cut!
Are you running under landstar authority or your own? I’m interested in joining landstar but I don’t want the headache of having my own authority
Under Landstar authority
What camera are you using ? Thanks
Just my phone, Samsung note 10
@@truckingandfixing thanks
@@truckingandfixing I was thinking you are using a expensive camera. Maybe I should try using my phone first I have the note 20
Yes, I use my phone to make videos when I am on the road. The file size is smaller and easy to upload to RUclips. But when I am at home, wife uses her Sony camera.
In your honest opinion if I leased a truck through SFI would it be difficult to net over 3000k? Where would you suggest to get a truck from if not SFI?
To do $3000K a year, you have to be on the road everyday of the year, no matter what truck you have. unless you are doing something special. SFI isn't a terrible deal, it is just a lot of money every week. You can also check Lone Mountrain, they are a little cheaper, but you have to put a downpayment.
You mean $300K, not $3000K-right?
$300K = $300,000 (THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS)
$3000K = $3,000,000 (THREE MILLION DOLLARS)
When you add “K” after a number, you’re multiplying said number by 1000 (ONE THOUSAND).
Also, be careful not to confuse the words “Gross” and “Net.” Some people get those two words mixed up all the time.
NET means Gross Profit MINUS Expenses. Some may or may not include taxes in this number. Personally, I would subdivide this into two further set of numbers: 1) Net Before Taxes 2) Net After Taxes (the real amount you take home after everybody get their piece of the pie and finally get.
So, to NET $3 Million (before taxes), you would need to GROSS a substantial amount. If you worked all 365 days the whole year, you would need to earn $8,219.17 in NET Profit PER DAY.
Now, if you meant NET $300K and you were to work all 365 days of the year, you would need to earn $821.92 in NET Profit PER DAY (more realistic but you’re gonna burn yourself out and or breaking some HOS laws). You’d probably need to GROSS about $1600-$2000 per day to take home an average $821.92/day for the year because you will have to pay for fuel, insurance, truck payment, truck maintenance, food, miscellaneous expenses, leisurely activities for yourself and or loved ones to destress when on the road all year long etc.
The day will come where everything that could go wrong will go wrong. Not enough high paying loads, diesel remains at $4-$5/gallon, you got to replace all 8 drive tires and 2 steer tires at about ~$1K per tire (if you own your trailer, that’s another 8+ tires), your engine, transmission or turbo needs a rebuild or a replacement (that’s a minimum $15K down the drain).
Grossing $300K is much easier, though.
I don’t recommend leasing any trucks. Work for a decent trucking company as a Company Driver for a couple years that pays you ~$1600-$2000+/week gross, save diligently, and buy yourself a truck when the average cost of trucks come back down to reasonable amounts before the buying frenzy and shortages, and you have enough saved up that you can continue to comfortably live off your savings and pay for all your expenses no problem if, God Forbid, you wouldn’t be able to work 6 months for whatever reason (you bought a crappy truck, you got hurt, etc). If you buy a used truck, guesstimate that you are going to need to dump another $40K in repairs and maintenance on top of whatever you paid for that used truck.
I can’t believe I wrote this long comment/novel, lol.
65% to the truck from landstar?
Yes
@@truckingandfixing Ouch, you be better off hauling pigs and cattle for someone and do about $1,000 a day also or go on the dat load board, I know guys doing $6500 a week with just 2500 miles.
@@peterbilt9996 im on a dryvan hazmat load going from Modesto ca to denver co 1200 miles for $6.5k. How about that
@@user-do4ti9wb1s I'm sorry I just don't believe that.
