I have been a die hard Gretsch USA fan and owner for decades and nothing came close until I bought a prolite kit a few weeks ago and they have these exact shells as this sq2 kit. This is hard for me to say and I don’t have any front of house recordings yet but from behind the kit I have to say I feel that the Sonor’s are not only better sounding then my Gretsch I think they are blowing them away, the tone power and the weight within the sound and feel of these drums is indescribable and just unreal!
@Monsterdrumma I don't disagree at all. If I hade the money I'd own a 5 piece Prolite kit.1 up, 2 down with a 22 inch bass drum. Best sounding drums to my ears. I've played Gretsch, Ludwig, Pearl, Tama and Mapex. Sonor are on a completely different level. When Lang went from Sonor to DW, I couldn't believe it. Maybe one day I'll be fortunate enough to own some Sonor drums.
@@markmullen1852 Yeah man I played everything also and can’t believe the sound of these shells! Yeah I had a collector’s series kit and I couldn’t stand it and a sound man on a Kid Rock gig I was on said these sound like shit during sound check and after trying for months to convince myself that they sounded great I realized damn these things sound like junk. They were pure mud, hollow and empty sounding with non stop ring yet dead, I couldn’t hear what I was playing which is fusion style drumming as there was zero attack. The Sonor’s however my God just everything you would want from a kit on 1000!
@@markmullen1852 As Terry Bozzio said a long time ago, when he went with Mapex, professional drummers have more to consider when choosing a brand than what sounds best to them. Thomas Lang lives in the Conejo Valley, which isn't very far from DW's HQ, and his drum store sells DW pretty much exclusively. Plus DW's artist support and customer service were/are better than Sonor's, even if you don't live within 20 miles of DW. It's a practical decision.
Noah's fabulous, as usual. Those drums are a solid 10!
Perfect Noah! those look so minty! Got to love Sonor, thanks
IMO Sonor drums are by far, the best sounding drums EVER made. And this is coming from a guy who plays Gretsch.

Is the Bass Drum Head pre muffled?Great Demo.Great Drummer
No muffling in there, just an open Remo coated Ambassador and the stock Fiberskyn reso. Thanks, cheers!
I have a SQ2 set and I think they're overrated and WAY overpriced.
