Ms. Karen Davila : Lea Salonga was the first Asian to play the roles of Éponine and Fantine in the musical Les Misérables on Broadway. She also provided the singing voice of two official Disney Princesses: Jasmine in Aladdin (1992), and Fa Mulan in Mulan (1998) and Mulan II (2004). Salonga was named a Disney Legend in 2011 for her work with the company. JSYK :)

Lea actually said in an interview that Anne Hathaway did a very great job giving justice to the song and went on saying na Anne's version is more fitting for the movie and may not be for broadway kasi sa broadway may ibang set of requirements.
WOW. I have nothing to say to this. Seriously... you know what. i hate people who criticize when they aren't even an expert (or even a smidge) on that field! And why bring up an actress turned "singer". Like seriously. All you guys know is newsbroadcasting. Please stay in it. :)
Both are good. Anne even made me cry. Its just that Broadway and Films are different forms of entertainment and thus require different attacks. :D

i think lea ONLY played eponine at the 10th anniversary concert, but she previously played fantine on broadway and at the 25th anniversary concert.

My thoughts exactly. I was going to say, too, they call this news? How about actual world events? Leave these kinds of topics for the gossip shows, god knows there's a ton of them in the Philippines. And some of these anchors used to be good. Now they can't even get their facts straight (Lea did play Fantine when she no longer was young enough to play Eponine), and then to make side comments regarding Anne Curtis' lack of singing ability. So unprofessional.
I think they were being sarcastic. Which even then, still doesn't make it right because then they're just making fun of her.

Anne Curtis? This people do not know what they're talking about. I'm surprised they call themselves newscasters withour even doing research whatsoever. Oh and FYI Lea played Eponine since 1993 and she also played FANTINE on Broadway and 25th anniversary.
She is just saying this to please us all filipinos because we love praises. She knows lea portrayed her part in broadway. But she know she is way more popular than her coz she is a hollywood star and lea is not.
Lea is well known at Hollywood be it on TV, Film, Theater or Music, she has global reach same as Anne Hathaway in Hollywood but not in Broadway, at least Lea Salonga is the only Pinay who has achieved that feat, not even your favorite Pinay singer has ever achieved what Lea Salonga had.

Lea Salonga is popular but not to the majority of millions of millions of people around the world. Filipino must stop lifting the bench to much as it is quite mayabang to many foreigners. Foreigners do not appreciate too much proudness about people of race but they are more proud to see a person do great things regardless if they are not Filipino or whatever. Its the person they see not by race or where they came from-interms of nation.

Both have really amazing singing voice. But I prefer Lea's over Ms. Patti's. I just find Lea's voice cleaner. The intonation, pronunciation, the way she sings the lyrics is understandable compared to Ms. Patti. And the transition of high and low notes too.
