Been researching one for a while and you made me buy one!!! Ultra low milage and saved myself a fortune...First auto and was a bit worried but after testing and now using for a while, it is great. Cracking car with a great interior that is just that step up in quality...
BMW have done a great job on this and I’m sure Vw will kick themselves because really that’s exactly what the latest GTi golf should be. But I think vw have scrimped over the last few years on there cars because of the big fines they have had to pay. Great review again mark.
Mark, excellent review, as always. It was obvious you were liking the ti. BMW are on it currently. Quality is a big factor. Interiors and finishes. I do believe the ti can be spec'd 'de-badged' and without the red air intakes etc. Which would be top of my list. Stealth it and you have the Q car of the moment. Thanks again.
In the UK leasing one of these is cheaper than a standard Golf GTI. For me it was an easy decision. Looking forward to receiving mine in the misano blue paint and black trim. Will peal off ti sticker.
Savage work bud , your killing it . Are adaptive dampers an option . I drove one a few weeks back felt better than an GTI IMO doesn’t have the heritage of the VW but it’s a better car .
Fantastic review, have been checking out the 128ti recently and came across your channel. Super to have a review on our lovely irish roads. Had a 2014 MK7 GTI previously before I got a sensible SUV cross. Been itching and window shopping ever since. Can an early 40s lad pull off driving this beast of a hatch??😂😂😂
Another great Irish review by Nobby on cars. Have to admit if they were at Uk prices where the 128ti is slightly cheaper than the mk8 245 I would pick the 128ti in grey or blue. But over here €10k more is madness especially when the 128ti has lower co2. What were BMW thinking? They could have really got a foot hold in the market with this car. Such a shame
Also when you're talking about other cars, can we get a small graphic on the corner showing that car please. For eg. I can't figure out which car you mention at 7:15
Been waiting for you to review this.. does this have adaptive dampers and independent rear suspension. ? I wonder where you put it in the front wheel drive hot hatch list.. possible 1. Type R, 2. Megan RS, 3. GTI Clubsport or 128 Ti or i30N 4. Focus ST MK4. ? The fiesta ST MK8 is obviously a smaller engine/bhp so difficult to place it in this list.. I commend BMW for trying something different.. I think once depreciation has kicked in I think this is a reasonably attractive car perhaps. ?
This one doesn’t. Option. I think I’d actually put the Fiesta ahead of the i30N - for value for money anyway. I think your order list is pretty spot on though. Type R is incredible but she ain’t cheap. A used one, a great option.
Nice to see the boot as well thanks. You could have risked another minute of attention span and put the seats down also to see if the bike would fit in there, these things don’t just go to the track days!
Great review as usual. I love the look of this car. I'm actually on the verge of ordering one. In your honest opinion could it be a daily driver & is the ride overly firm?
Great review as always . God these type cars are getting crazy money now . The people that want them can’t dream of buying them and the 35 to 50 year who can now has a family and will probably buy a 5 series
Im stuck between this and the upcoming 2021 FL i30N. Im leaning towards the i30N because it has a manual option. Ive driven autos for the last 5 years and I want to fall in love with driving again
Sounds like a two cylinder motorcycle. "the 18 inch wheels make the ride not bad at all" as the camera bounces and the mount clings on using all it's suction not to fall off.
Intristin jammer! Burr, Mark… “cracking” … loike.. cracking … ya can’t be quotin Intermission, abouh Ronnies and then say … cracking… if Colin heard ya, he’d crack yer head 😆😂❗️ Buhh.. like anudder poster puts … Savage ! 👍🏻 ( and - Full Disclosure - I’m a bleedint turf muncher !)
VW build quality is slipping. I say that as a previous mark 7 gti and 7.5 golf R owner. I haven't seen the mk 8 interior in the flesh but the reviews I have seen are less than encouraging. Long story short the beemer is the better car imo
Nice car and good review. The exterior looks like my Hyundai i30N and that does pop and bang :) would like to see your review of that. However Nobby, the golf GTi is not the ultimate hatchback. My car and others are much better.
Personally, I think a manual standard Golf GTI which is €10k cheaper is a much better buy. It has great bang for buck. It looks better than the Beemer and is a more desirable all round package. Better resale as well. Beemer interior is certainly nicer. However the exterior in my view is awful - especially from the front. Somebody said below it reminds them of a police car and that is absolutely correct. Mind you, I would also consider the GTI clubsport to be totally overpriced and the price of the Golf R to be beyond ridiculous.
Absolutely, there differences are not night and day by any means, this has a slight edge in how it drives but as many have said, the Golf is the better looking car. Big saving if you keep a GTI standard too.
Great review as ever tho' if it was my money I'd have the RS Mégane biased as I am to the French plus although the latest facelift version is automatic only like the BMW, the previous version which you'd be hard pushed to spot the difference with between it and the new one can be had with a manual gearbox plus even the most basic RS Mégane has 15bhp more than the BMW at 280hp or potentially 35 more if u get the 300hp version.
128ti is better than Golf GTI in every angles but it comes with price. Interior quality/ Driving experience/ even software(OS) in 128ti is faster and more functionality. But you need to pay extra premium on it. So some of real buyers refuse to pay more stay with GTI.
Been researching one for a while and you made me buy one!!! Ultra low milage and saved myself a fortune...First auto and was a bit worried but after testing and now using for a while, it is great. Cracking car with a great interior that is just that step up in quality...

Bloody hell Nobby, you have been busy - another good video.
forward momentum ;)
Another great video mate, well done👍👍👍👌
Cheers appreciate that

Nice colour 👍🏻
Love ur review ..i have a storm bay 128ti and love it ...best car to drive

Of course! I think us slightly older lads appreciate them more at this age 😎
Would like to see your thoughts on the m135i great videos

BMW aren’t to blame for a large chunk... VAT and VRT are a joke
GTI DSG 245bhp and the 128Ti are within 500 quid of each other - before you spec any options on either
Great review! Ordered one in Storm Bay without the exterior red trim for next year, can't wait.
Enjoy it
Also when you're talking about other cars, can we get a small graphic on the corner showing that car please. For eg. I can't figure out which car you mention at 7:15
Did you ever drive the m135i (f40) ?

5:59, I'd love to see more shots like these! Always like the video guys.
Is the aisin transmission slower than the dct?
And the bmw is more expensive
Looking at buying myself a toy for the weekends….should I go Golf gti/r or 128ti/M135i ?🤔
Toss up between the R and 135 I think. And then possibly still the R.
@@NobbyOnCars ….4 wheel traction all round then by the sounds of things🤔
Great review as usual. I love the look of this car. I'm actually on the verge of ordering one. In your honest opinion could it be a daily driver & is the ride overly firm?
Total daily absolutely and certainly on those wheels it wouldn’t be a problem
@@NobbyOnCars thank you so much for your prompt response & honest opinion 👍🏼
Great review GTI here at Australia starts at $55,000 with on roads and extras.
Yeah, our government love to ride us.
Great review as always . God these type cars are getting crazy money now . The people that want them can’t dream of buying them and the 35 to 50 year who can now has a family and will probably buy a 5 series
Once you go past the buggy stage they become an option again but some will then feel too old for one
Just ordered one, cheap deals at the moment nice change from the Golf
Im stuck between this and the upcoming 2021 FL i30N. Im leaning towards the i30N because it has a manual option. Ive driven autos for the last 5 years and I want to fall in love with driving again
Understand your point alright. Try both!
prefer the Golf GTI. Beamer interior is top class. and coloured vents front n back.
Sounds like a two cylinder motorcycle. "the 18 inch wheels make the ride not bad at all" as the camera bounces and the mount clings on using all it's suction not to fall off.
So you’re going to judge a suspension on a 1.5kg camera rig? Good man.

Looks like a garda car in that white but the blue would pop. Much more interesting a car than the GTI, will they make a true 1 series M car? Doubt it
I usually listen to the Alarm Clock while going on a bus
Mark, lovey machine. BMW makes them well

The red ti decals on white just don't do it for me
Some won't like them, for sure!
Just ordered one
Fab car I have one on order
Nice one
Why does everyone hate the nose? I like it enough
Not broken in yet...then proceeds to launch it 🤣
It’s a press car 🤣
In South Africa this is quite cheaper than the GTI

They look like Pirelli P Zero’s on the car not PS4’s
P Zeros but not cost extra for Pilot Sports I’m led to believe
@@NobbyOnCars do you know if they were standard P Zero’s or Runflats?? I have Runflat P Zero’s on my E90 and I’m wondering if PS4’s would be worth it
Standard.
It looks absurd with those silly orange bits. White is the worst colour for it I should say
better in black!
Great video, you’re keeping busy these days. Very bland looking car, deffo wouldn’t make you look twice if it drove by.

Good points made 👍🏻👍🏻
U know a new gti is actually way more standard gti is 35 on a deal now and a standard 128 ti is 30 k no optoins and lower apr
Gti clubsport is a lot faster on a track then this car
55 G!!! for a 128ti lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love ur review ..i have a storm bay 128ti and love it ...best car to drive
