I started a medicare advantage plan last Sept 15th, my 65th birthday, and my wife just started a medicare advantage plan July 1 at her 65th birthday, We want to be able to have a plan that covers the majority of our bills and doesn't want a sizeable catastrophic cost in later years. Give us your best advice.

Recently hit 65 and when I retire, am intending to get a Medicare Supplement plan over an Advantage plan (Kaiser in my case). It will be either a Plan G or plan N to be specific.
I understand that switching from an Advantage plan (Part C) to a supplement (Medigap) plan requires underwriting.
Would switching from a Plan N to a Plan G require underwriting? If not, I'm all in for Plan N when initially signing up for Medicare.
Still working but am planning my future and find these presentations outstanding!!

Yes, it would require underwriting to from N to G. Else, everyone would sign up for a low cost plan and then change when/if they need more coverage :-)

In most states, yes, you would need to go through underwriting to change plans once out of your open enrollment window.

I do find it complicated. I don't want a medicare advantage plan, but then I have to get medigap, plan D and then vision and dental, all from different providers possibly.

The providers may be different, but the Medigap plans and Part D plans are both regulated by Medicare.

Is it true that if you have traditional medicine A&B and you switch to an advantage plan, you can never go back to traditional A&B?

      😀No, per video 😃

    • @MedicareonVideo

You can go back during AEP, but if you want to return to a Medicare Supplement plan, you will most likely need to pass medical underwriting.

I don’t know why ANYONE would want Medicare advantage. You have to stay in the network, you have co-pays to everything, when you are really sick, they are not easy to work with for getting physical therapy, etc. Regular Medicare and plan G and D supplements gives you freedom and peace of mind.
