@ but if we’re examining under the caveat that Super Bowl winners need good OLines to win anyway, then being a mobile QB (and their drawbacks) isn’t necessary to be a consistent winner. That’s a personal approach i just don’t like that take. These QBs are mobile so they “carry a team”. In the post season turnovers are a death knell most of the time and mobile QBs are inherently more at risk. I’d rather the QBs that make less mistakes. They just happen to be the guys that due their damage mostly from the pocket. Obviously it’s not perfect but if you need a good roster to win the ship anyway, pointing out that a QB “needs more” around them isn’t necessary. That’s like walking up to someone and saying “you’re good looking with a big forehead.” Was the forehead comment necessary?
@@indade Allen is carry his team and has in the past... to wins and more wins than if he had been far less mobile... Same with MAhomes. It coes down to a very good team wins SBs. but an avg or so team with a QB that can carry can go pretty deep. The 84 team had no right to go to the SB, but Marino was a HUGE piece... SF focused on that one piece and had many pieces. "“you’re good looking with a big forehead.” Was the forehead comment necessary?" It's not about necessary or unnecessary, it evaluation. The point of him not being able to carry is about needing a higher level team and different style than what we have around him. Look at Vick... never great team... and he wasn't the best passer... same with Lamar, but they can uplift a team to more wins and don't need as much on the OL because he can move to lift the protection and add run yards. Tua uplifts this protection, but mostly in the short clock and his arm doesn't put fear into the deep portion and his legs don't scare Ds... so they can focus on more of the short clock throws. Marino for example could buy some time... far more early before his knees went... but the deep was always a focus.... So Tua can easliy win a SB with the right team (if he can stay healthy) and can uplift a team in a few areas, but the combo of not a huge arm and not a threat on the ground forces higher level OL and run game production to make the most out of his skillset. I'm not goodlooking and have a big forehead... so, I'd love to hear I'm good looking with a big forehead... :)
Would Miami be out of contention or in contention with the win? They were a 1 pt fav at home... I try to eval fairely... not with an agenda... I don't beleive in them or the build, but for this team it was a big win... staying in contention however slim or being totally knocked out qualifies as a big win... esp for me who thought they'd lose.
@@AcePerHeadI get what you’re saying. I don’t evaluate this team with an agenda either. And if we’re looking at this thing on a micro level (which it seems like that’s all the front office does), a guess it could be looked at as a big win. I don’t see it as a win bc they’re narrowly surviving…and to what end. So looking at this on a macro level. No. Beating a 6-9 SF team is not a big win. Even if they win the last two games, I don’t see any of this as a success. There will be no 6-9 (or teams with less wins) in the playoffs. We’re getting smacked around by those teams. So, for that, it’s VERY hard for me to look at a win against that SF team, that is a shell of what they used to be, and say that’s a “big win”, regardless of the implications. The fact that we were 1 or favorites just lets us know how bad we are. So, our expectations just continue to be lowered. But that shouldn’t change the importance placed on these types of wins. As bad as SF has been, I still had us losing this game. But just bc we won, and keep our “playoff hopes” alive, didn’t change how I feel about the win, or this team. I don’t want to watch this team in the playoffs. And just like I predicted that HOU would get smacked around by BAL last night, I think MIA would get the same treatment with ANY playoff team. I don’t wanna see that for the sake of saying that we made the playoffs.
Like every Miami fan, it is nice to have a win but clearly Miami has serious problems. The fact that they had to kick five field goals - that isn't a great return on red zone opportunities. This might fly against a weak team but won't cut it against KC, Buffalo, etc. Also, Miami has yet to escape the "can't beat a good team" rut. I think it would be best to not reach the playoffs, it will just be another embarrassment.
Agree. It's a twofold, eval...this was a good win, but is it a good indication that we will do this vs good team and in bad conditions? And this is a good win now, but will it bring back Grier and hurt the future success? We can't beat good teams often because we aren't a good team.... but don't worry Miami and many content providers will tell you we are and we just need some tweaks.
Curtis with one win the fans are so willing to give this team a pass. They think this team will be a competive . I have no idea what their looking at. What says you?
We are desperate and many hype every little positive so fans believe... not easy unless you are studying the game... I said in this PC that this team a long way off... so that's my eval... as for next season... whoever is in charge I'll reset my eval and start from scratch with everything and everyone... I do it every year that way... with an eye on the past of course.
I agree we need to run the ball effectively but I think the pass protection is sufficient for Tua's game. He will never be a late clock QB. He has to get the ball out in less than 2.5 seconds to be effective because longer than that requires a stronger arm. Quick release in less than 2.5 seconds amplifies his strengths of anticipation and accuracy. If he waits longer the routes will be longer where his relatively weak arm will put emphasis on his weakness.
That is not true...Look at the 1st Hill TD drop....He took a 5 step drop and stood in the pocket and then side stepped and threw a 40 yard pass with Bosa barreling down on him and he got whacked...The quick release is overrated..yes he has a quick release and we have quick speedy WR's...but he can hang in the pocket if you protect him.. The offense doesn't away have to be 2 seconds quick release timing routes..The offense is built that way because Hill and Waddle can get over the middle and Tua can throw with Anticipation.
His arm isn't bad, idk why people still say this. Brady didn't have a Vick howitzer either, he didn't need to. Not that Tua is Brady. Tua is accurate and fast, but that doesn't mean he always has to get it out as fast as possible. Tua with time is very dangerous because Mia has fast receivers. If Hill or waddle or even Washington now are open and get away from coverage, its a guaranteed score for this type of team. We saw it in the 2023 season when Mia was constantly described as "explosive." Tua's Oline has not recently facilitated the time needed to make those plays and defenses across the league finally got smart and started putting a lot of pressure on hill and waddle. Great guys, but they don't make contested catches very well. Both of those things combined, weaker oline and wrs who can't get open, mean Tua MUST get the ball out sooner than later, otherwise he's forced into a 50/50: take a sack, cause he's not fast, or huck it to whoever and pray to his god that it's not a pick. Tua's arm is fine, his deep ball is fine, but the team as it is right now doesn't give this guy enough room to be anything except a gunslinger. A more robust oline enables the run game to better take pressure off passing. A robust wr group allows Tua to use different weapons out in the field, instead of 2 or 3 fast guys. It feels like a gross misunderstanding of this team's shortcomings to say Tua doesn't have the arm to throw deep when 2023 was the year of "Tua throws deep and Hill just finds it." Mia needs to be able to do more than just 1 or 2 things really well, cause they're useless when a competent team is good against those 1 or 2 things.
Longer time to throw doesn't demand deeper pass nessaceraly... more points to a route, drags, crossers, route combos, combacks ect... all are made w/ time... thing is the short time restricts a ton... on so many levels, brother. His arm is good enough... it struggles on the outs and the deep when they aren't wide open at times, but the rest of the areas he hits... look at last week on a 3rd and 16 as an example... not an easy throw and not short... so I agree to a minor extent, but disagree on a larger extent.
@@dave34573 It's good enough except on mid to deep outs... and some very deep. Brees made a ton on his arm... BUT Brees maximized is potential with emaculate platform hygene... some of the best I've ever seen... Tua gets sloppy at times.
My bet would be Skylar is better than Tua if the framework were set up for him. It is widely acknowledged that Skylar has a strong arm, is more mobile and has better health. So when you put caveats for Tua and universally knock Skylar, it gnaws at your credibility. Further, your example of Tannenhill would seem to back up my argument. But I acknowledge that you are far more knowledgeable about football. Am I wrong?
@josephnoneofyourbeeswax8517 You can't be serious. Skylar had 3 years to show himself as a capable backup. He failed. Skylar has better health than Tua? Did you look at Skylar's college history? The guy was always injured. Most times when Skylar played in 2023 or 2024, he got hurt. Come on man! You have zero credibility.
You need more than just physical traits to be an NFL qb, and I'm not the guy to defend Tua, but if you're right about Skylar, then he shouldn't have a problem landing with a new team soon.
I never knocked Skyer first... I said for this scheme he's a poor fit. I've said this isn't the system for him on many occasions... I don't think he's better than Tua though. I mean who knows if he was set up right, but I think the odds are slimmer... he doesn't read fast, but he does have talents... just not sure it comes together as a starter. BUT the main point is Grier and McD should have know he couldn't run this O with this OL... only reson Tua can because his release is grease lightening... not many could survive this OL.... they might but a little more time on the move, but this OL is poor and they'd likely end up beaten up. Tannahill, Tua, and Skylar would benefit from the Titans system is ws run heavy and had solid protection. I haven't seen anything special in Skylar yet, but it could be that this OL squashes him... but if thar's the case it says a ton about what Tua is able to do... I did like some of his stuff in the Bill PO game but there was almost an equal amount of gaffs... he was young. IF he's that good though the league would poach him off the PS squad... let's see how his craeer plays out... crem rises to the top far more than it doesn't in the NFL... the league is starving for talent.
So now Ross has become a Little "Fanboy" with his pom poms on the sideline. He's such a jackass when it comes to knowing football. A Real Estate Genius? Yes! But doesn't know his Ass from his elbow when it comes to football decisions and running an NFL Franchise. WHO is going to want to come to Miami as the GM "IF" he fires Grier but is told, yeah but "I'd like you to keep McDumbass as the coach"??? No wonder the Miami Dolphins should be called The Miami Dysfunctions!!! You FIRE Grier, bring in a Good GM and LET HIM PICK HIS COACH! If he decides on McDumbass then so be it. Geezus....
How was beating a 6-9 SF team to improve to 7-8 a big win?
Curtis the only thing that lasts in life is truth!
and love... both echo through eternity
Cerca Trova Curtis!
No, but if the team wins the next two the chances of Grier losing his job move from slim to none and Slim just left the building
Curtis we get to relive this season next year. Not me!
This is the end result of lots of draft picks 3 years into a rebuild PATHETIC
Like all the deep passes Tua hit to Tyreek and Waddle last season, that noodle arm😂 @dondajulah What a putz
Geezus.... I'm a fan for 55+ years but honestly I'm about ready to tap out on this team. Enough is Enough! BTW... Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Curtis!
So it looks like no changes and we'll stink again next year.....thanx Ross
