Mike Vrabel was the top head coaching option. Everyone with a vacancy wanted him. No need to be extra diligent when the clear answer is in front of you.
This was definitely a W move! Mike Vrabel is a true natural born leader. He’s gonna do what he needs to do to rebuild this team, create & establish a new culture, & turn us into a competitive & good team again! I’m so happy & excited for the future of the team. It’s officially a new era for the Pats! Welcome Home Mike Vrabel & congrats on officially becoming our new HC❤️💙
For the people complaining that Ben Johnson was the better option, Johnson would be good if QB was our only issue. The whole team is an issue right now, Vrabel will help solve that across the board.
Many of the same people complaining that the Patriots went too fast with this would be complaining if NE took too long and didn't get Vrabel. With that said, I would have brought in some more coaches to interview in order to get a jump start on your OC and DC search. The Rooney rule is BS how it's set up, and i don't blame any team for treating it the way NE did. Now NE needs to go get a top OC and DC. Lets Go
the writing was on the wall. we all knew this was happening lol. i love the experience and accountability that vrabel will bring. its good to see him want to coach this team. i hope he gets this defense back to where it needs to be. i hope he brings an oc from cleveland or the west coast system. please dont bring in mcdaniels. his scheme is too outdated and wont get us over the hump. grab an oc from cleveland or something please. we need to see this offense grow and develop these players
Listen I Want To Apologize To you and your buddies For My stupidity yesterday sincerely, Been A patriots fan since 1968 SO SEEN THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE VERY UGLY I STEPPED OUT OF BOUNDS YESTERDAY NOW LETS GET A Qualified Oc DC and GM And make the patriots feared in the NFL Again. Once again I Apologize
We better be in the playoff this upcoming year. No excuses. Apparently Vrabel made the playoff team in Tennessee not Derrick Henry, AJ Brown and Matt LaFleur 🤣.
That’s what’s wrong with the organization, Robert Kraft and the fans are in such a rush during a rebuild that he only hires people that he is familiar with. But Mike Vrabel will be a good coach to put some of these players in check and hold them accountable. Let’s just hope he gets a good DC and OC to come with him to NE. Then Hit it off in FA and during the draft. I heard he doesn’t like “soft tissue” players. Which means he doesn’t like players that are always hurt or are out. So we won’t be getting T-Higgins. But he might be interested in Dk and AJ brown.
I love that we got Mike vrabel, but the way the Krafts did their head coaching search was basically laziness and they rushed through. Also what are your thoughts on Ryan Cowden also being added in the front office
@@SkeletorsSonRaiders still gonna suck even with Ben Johnson being the head Coach. Great OCs and DCs don't always translate well into Head Coaches. Head Coaching and Coordinating are two different jobs.
Wanted him last year but I feel like Kraft and Vrabs had something planned out and I feel like this was the best situation and I couldn’t be more pumped! BJ would’ve been great but it wasn’t realistic unfortunately. We move!!
To be fair to Mayo, the Patriots biggest problem is an overall lack of talent on the depth chart. They must shore up the offensive line 1st & foremost , I'd argue LT & LG. Then focus on a true WR1 & WR2, along with a decent edge rusher who can pressure the QB. And if their RB doesn't stop fumbling the ball, they'll need to make a change here as well. They're pass rush, O-line & lack of pressure must all be addressed. However with the 4th pick & tons of cap space, they should be able to tackle most of these issues this off-season
I need new unis don’t let vrabel design them with his tough ass haha they gon end up like Steelers unis… but W hire I love his talks with the media I was just whatever when they hired him even tho I wanted him last year… now I’m like woah we got a guy
Not if the league finds out Vrabel was given the job before the rule was met. It’s not whining, it’s an actual concern. If that would end up happening, you’d lose draft capital.
He has a right to be concerned, he also provides content/news when it comes to NE because he’s a fan. So make sure to think before you post a comment, humble yourself.
@ brotha you don’t know how BEHIND I am on content 😂😂 I promise you I’m not reaching for content by simply implying potential implications. Hired him very quickly. He was a very good Pats player, like Mayo. There is a ton of excitement for this hire but his win % as a head coach was less than 55%, a little bit better than win one loose one. I hope he does well and believe he will definitely bring a great culture to the Pats. I think you’re underestimating Ryan Tannehill, he was a very good QB for a while. No matter who the coach is they can not win in the NFL being 130 million under the cap and they need a real O Line, not a strong coach to beat sub par players into giving their best effort vs far more talented players.
I understand the purpose of the Rooney rule, but if you do interview minority candidates for the HC position and your not quite enticed by them and if you knew who you were going to initially hire from the get go (Mike Vrabel) I genuinely don’t see the issue with how they went about it. Sure it may sound scummy to interview a few minority candidates, but ultimately not hire them, but that’s the Krafts decision anyway it’s their choice to hire who they feel is right for the job. Your never guaranteed the job just because you get interviewed. Mike Vrabel and or Ben Johnson would have been the best moves available. Ultimately I’m happy Vrabel is here and I’m already excited to see what he does for next year. Just please nail this draft that’s all inask
Those who preferred Johnson aren’t looking at the big picture. Cap space + high draft pick = crazy roster turnover likely. Head coaches are heavily involved in this. Coordinators are consulted but not directly involved. We NEED someone with past head coaching experience. This has NOTHING to do with him being a former Patriot. He’s just the best choice. Ben Johnson is a poor fit. Is Vrabel perfect? No. His ending in TN was ugly (though most blame TN for that). So, we don’t know. No guarantees. Maybe Vrabel turns out to be a bust. BUT… on paper? This is far and away the right and best choice. Also, I’m not concerned about the fast pace of this. Think about it, the draft is only three months away. And while plenty of FAs sign after the draft many sign before, so that you have a good feel for your needs at the draft. Waiting around for Johnson or someone else may seem like, “who cares? It’s only a couple weeks.” …because we need to wait for them to finish their post-season runs. If it’s only a two week wait, that’s nearly 20% of the time between now and the draft. Because of the first point I mentioned - roster turnover - that’s huge. This had to be done FAST. And Vrabel needs to hit the ground running. There is a TON of work to be done over the next several weeks to rebuild this team. Right choice, and it wasn’t rushed. The timing is necessary.
Yeah great more Defensive minded coaching. Get ready to see the defense get the lions share of attention again. Get ready to see free agents avoid coming to NE because they don't want to play for a hard azz. What was Vrabels best year coaching? It was 9&9 500 football so where's the success everyone is talking about? Oh and if I remember right didn't they want to go to a offense that wasn't as complicated as McDaniels? Half the recruits need two years to learn McDaniels offense. This was another rush job and another attempt to have BB football without BB. We needed a fresh start with Ben Johnson in my opinion. Everyone thinks Vrabel is going to come in and bring back what BB created. What a recipe for disaster.
What an utterly stupid take. Yah, they should've waited months to hire the top HC candidate and waste time hiring a coaching staff. Interviewing these others just to waste everyone's time is so dumb.
We'll be here to say "told you so" when this buddy buddy hiring BS bites us in the backside again and B Johnson goes on to take his team much further. Enjoy watching out of date losing football.
Maybe no derrick henry but could take jeanty at 4 and well… combined with mondre close enough. Tackles aren’t worth top 4, hunter probably gone. I say address both in FA and just get the best player available. Jeanty could be special and fits vrabel imo. Cheers.
Hiring vrabel still doesn't guarantee the team is going to win. The offensive line is a MAJOR CATASTROPHIC PROBLEM. That whole position has to be cut, with fresh new players like the wide receivers position.
W move or L move?🤨
