big brain move, remember in which order you did wires, then when the impostor decides to fake wires, they'll do it in the wrong order, or do it where there are no wires, wires is common task.
"If someone was seen doing a visual task early in the round, they're never going to be killed by getting thrown out of the air lock" Oh Matt... how I wish this was true in public lobbies. People seem to often forget everything that happened past the previous round.
It happens in premades too. I was in a full party of 10 once. Lights went out and four of us grouped up to move towards it. One died, I reported it immediately and clearly said that one of the imposters is 100% one of the remaining three of us. Myself and the other one of those three who was crew both got killed the next phase and imposters won. Goldfish-like memory on everyone else: he was never suspected again for the rest of the game.
Worse still is when you do a visual task infront of people and they DON'T REPORT IT! The number of times I have had to remind people to vouch for me is rediculous.

The problem is that when playing with randoms everyone is impatient and easily convinced. If someone declares that it must be you then you’re getting kicked out regardless of evidence and they will do it before you have a chance to type your defence.
False: the task bar doesn’t go up when you have a 2-3 part task until the final part is done; therefore, they are safe to fake while being the impostor.
Lemur Man but they can tell if they fake it because the task bar only goes up if u do a task and imposters can’t do that. Please learn how to play the game before you even play it.
Tip: Also be aware of the settings, like for example, some players set it to where the task bar doesn't update until a meeting, or a dead body is reported, and some pro's play with visual tasks off, so just be aware of what the games' settings are
The “progress bar didn’t go up” thing can sometimes make innocents look sus because multi-part tasks (wires) don’t make the bar go up until the last part is done
Hopefully this rises in the comments because most players don't actually know this and cause the game to go poorly for getting their suspicions wrong. A better way to explain this is to know what multi part tasks have a definite ending and follow that player through to the end of it. You will then know if they are to be trusted.
The part where you said "if you see someone at a task and the taskbar doesnt go up, theyre a faker" isnt actually 100% correct. A lot of the tasks like the cafeteria garbage ones have multiple parts to them, and the taskbar wont go up until all of them are completed.
@@theabirde Same. I did wires when there was 4 people left, lime was with me and called a meeting to blame me, I told them I had one left, so they let me off the hook. After completing tasks, them and I stood by cams and watched the other pair. Orange went missing, so we knew it was pink.
DISCLAIMER: for multiple part tasks like electrical where it has three parts, the taskbar only goes up once you have completed all three. So if you blame a guy for one part of the wires that’s a big Nono. Follow the guy for all three parts and see if the bar goes up.
Or if they fake wires when wires isn't a task. It's a common task, therefore if there's only 1 common, and everyone else did admin swipe and one guys on wires? That's sus. Except when you're me, and I call someone out for it, and get airlocked because "Why did you hit the button? thats a waste of time"
@@kirarxe it's more or less guaranteed that a lobby has wires task. I haven't gotten in a room where there weren't wires And matpat also needs to explain common tasks as there seems to be confusion about it for newer players
just to warn you: some tasks only go up in the meter when fully complete like the bar will only go up when you do all 3 wiring tasks Edit: Tasks that I'm referring to are tasks like: Download Data, Wiring, Divert power, Fuel engines, empty Garbage and stuff
"If someone was seen doing a visual task, they are not going to be voted out by the crewmembers." Me: I wish people had at least 1 IQ like the people you play with
It's true that you're not guaranteed to be safe, particularly when only one other person has seen you do it. Still, it's best to try and get several people to see you do a visual task, which could be a challenge in PUGs.
For the meter, there is one *critical* detail: Partial tasks *do not* increment the meter, only a fully completed task. For example, the first two wire panels performed by a crewmate don't increment the meter, but the third one will.
When I'm playing with one of my siblings, we play in differnt rooms so this dosent happen. And if we accidentally play in the same room, we won't tell each other our roles, will turn our volume off so we can't hear each other killing or doing a task, and we won't tell each other if we get killed :> Also, It's even worse when some one says 'guys, it's green, they killed my friend, were on discord' or when they call green lime or cyan/teal blue pwp
you need to be more convincing & save your visuals for when you are targeted for suspicion. make sure multiple people see you do it and you stay safe afterwards
This one game, I did asteroids in front of some other person and at the emergency meeting that other person vouched for me. But some idiot said sus and I got voted out. I hate playing with random people.
Yup, this sounds about right, with the growing popularity of Among Us, there are more trolls, and cheaters(people who share info outside of game) than ever
A tip: there common tasks in among us that either every crewmate or no crewmate has. If you see somebody doing a common task when it's not on your list (like admin swipe for The Skeld) they're probably the imposter. So imposters, if you have a common task while others don't, don't do it and vice versa
@@jackchoukaier8764yes, I know I'm 2 years late, but I was literally called a cheater for guessing correctly because someone was faking a common task. Luckily the host was on my side
About the task bar thing: long tasks (which require 2 or 3 parts like the first and second wire) don't fill up the bar, but filling them all up does. So try to ask them "how many wire tasks do you have left" before immediately voting them off. I've lost like this once and even if you feel extremely vindicated at the end it's not worth it.
There's also what I call the "Over-Eager Voting Tactic." If someone votes early, you can try to call them out on it. Sometimes being the first to vote doesn't mean you're good either.
Exactly. Wires, download, trash, and divert all of multiple steps therefore not filling up the task bar until all the steps are done. Yet people want to act like that’s not the case at all. (That’s probably not all the multi step tasks but I can’t fully remember) Edit: I forgot about inspect specimen in medbay and the other tasks that have you wait a certain amount of time then come back.
At the beginning of the video. If you want to know if a word is spelled with "or" or "er" at the end, find out if it's a suffix or not. since "impost" isn't a word an "imposter" isn't described as "someone who imposts" like run -> runner receive -> receptor MOST of the time. I don't have the entire dictionary memorized and there are exceptions to every rule in English.

"If someone was seen doing a visual task early in the game, they won't get voted off" Well that's a lie, I did that and then a minute later I got voted out because "I vented"......
As he said in the previous video, at different skill levels differnt tactics can work. Noob tactics can beat those at higher levels as they know them so well that they think no one would actually use them. The opposite is unfortunately also true. People can be too dumb for tactics to work.
6:16 be careful though, the task shown here: Deposit garbage in cafe, actually DOES NOT make the bar go up even if you are a crewmate, tasks that take multiple steps to complete will never make the bar go up unless you do the last task of that group (third wires, garbage in storage, spinning the last wheel for boiler room...)
6:27 I would like to say, if the task has more than 1 location you must visit in order for it to be completed, don’t the first part won’t make it go up, only at the end
One game I reported a body in electrical and a crewmate said "I was in electrical, you weren't there". Mate... I reported! Got thrown out Temperature IQ half the time in random

Me: does wire Someone: he faked task the bar doesn't go up Me: the bar will go up after all three wire task completed Everyone: we already voted Me: •_•
Yeah I usually don't waste time in faking tasks because there are 9 other people besides me, no one is gonna remember that I never stopped anywhere to do a task, but if in some situation I do have to I usually do wires or download task cause the bar doesn't go up at first it's a 2 way task, I seriously can never get the timing right with the Taskbar that's why I never fake tasks.
One my favorite big brain plays as an imposter when there are 2 imposters is to 'buddy' up with a player for a little and then vouch for them. Often times they will vouch for you and be like 'they could have killed me long ago but didn't!'. You can even lag behind and get a few cheeky kills in or even easier if you shape shift.
But heres the Thing Mr. MatPat: When self reporting a body, nowdays people istantly think like for 90% that its a self report. meaning if the imposter killed someone and you report that body, youre pretty much out.
6:20 actually be careful with that. There’s tasks that only make the task bar go up if you complete all the parts(like wires or downloading data,etc...) I once died because someone thought I faked
Yes!! It's because of this that I always aks them which task they think the person faked. Cause half the time it ends up being downloading data. Then two innocent people get kicked out cause everyone thinks the first person was lying.
“Of course Among Us isn’t a game who’s strategy can be reduced to a simple flow chart”. This is something that I personally love about the game, which is that nothing is 100% certain. Strats for either crewmate or impostor don’t always work, which makes you have to come up with new ones on the fly to get out of sticky situations. This kind of necessary way of thinking is something I love that Among Us has captured perfectly and beautifully.
Just a note on faking tasks. If a tasks has multiple parts the bar doesn’t go up until all parts are done. So faking wires isn’t the same as faking card swipe because if someone says “bar didn’t go up” it was only my second wires is a valid and accepted response.
@@bruhmomento885 Then they'd see you as a noob who probably won't be of much use and just cause confusion, so if they have to throw someone out they'd probably vote you anyway.
“If someone was seen doing a visual task early in the round, they are never gonna he killed by getting thrown out of the airlocks.” You must be thinking of a different game
@@riskyy2657 a word of advice, people hate spam emails, so... What do you think people would respond if someone used the comment section for self- promotion, they wouldn't respond with "I'm glad to see this". I would preferred to get Rick rolled rather than see your announcement of something
Another tip is when you take tasks, do things like wires because unless you’ve done all three wires the task bar doesn’t go up so you don’t have to worry about being caught faking tasks
Wires is also a common task so if you are playing with experienced players make sure you know it is the common task for that round or else if you fake it they will know you are imposter.
also heres another tip for impostors if you are an impostor and you see a person accuse an innocent player then kill the accuser and the blame will go to the accused player
"Avoid faking tasks due to the meter" while this is true, the meter doesn't always go up automatically. while this isn't something to rely on as am imposter, this has actually gotten me killed as a crewmate
So the meter goes any time you complete a task fully. So it only goes up on the third wire set you do. The download doesn't fill the bar but the upload does. The first trash chute doesn't fill but the second does
Some things u missed: some tasks arent done in a single step like wires or trash, every one has the same short tasks like keycard or the Keys on polus.

Also, in the start of a match, ypu might try to see who's sus and maybe think that it's cyan, but if you start to think it's cyan right away with low evedence, you start to only go in on them, so please look thru everybody and not just some random person right away
@@ruukinen so long as you don't perform all parts in front of the same person and there's no secret communication between anyone, it's more likely to lower suspicion than raise it. There's always a chance someone will call you out because they don't know multipart only raise progress on completion, or someone will be suspicious of you anyway and will try and find out if anyone else caught you doing the task in a round, but I guess every strategy has its risks
My rule for Among Us is to not vote without any evidence. If there was no one nearby when you found the body, its not exactly a good idea to vote, because you have no good evidence. Also, always pay attention to the tasks you have because imposters dont know what tasks the crewmates have. Always travel in a group of 3 or more, because it not really likely that both your partners are imposters, because its inefficient for 2 imposters to travel together. Dont always vote out a person who defended the imposter, because its likely they were unknowing. Make sure someone knows where you are so that you have a good alibi, this ties in with staying in groups. Make sure that you give a detailed story of what your doing so that its less likely tor people to think that you are the imposter. If you want to kill someone in a 1 entrance/exit, make sure that there is no one around so that no one will be able to say you were in the room when you killed them. I hoped this helped, and I cant really fit any more advice into this comment.
I tend to always go to cameras. As a crew member, I can tell who the imposter is bu if they enter a room with only one path and never leave, or if they walk into a room with someone else and only they leave. Since I go to cameras every round, the suspicion is often never thrown on me because I can always claim I’m in cams and everyone trusts it. As an imposter, I can see if anybody goes into medbay and quickly vent over there to perform the deed and be back within 3 seconds. Nobody knows a thing.
@Sunny 1983 Fair point and flaw to my method, however most randoms don’t camp admin, so it’s generally alright. Besides, for all they know, I wandered out to check on something or to do a task. It’s rather hard for them to pin a murder on me because I left security for 3 seconds.
@@readypickles in my group there are always 2 people camping admin and 2 security/logs so that even if 1 in a group is impo his statements can be ruled as false and if both in a group are impo then their statements can be ruled false by the other group
What if you where to start (as a crewmate) do the more remote areas of the map, Because the Imposters don't go there first; two if you suspect that someone is sus then go with groups Because you are A Target, three when someone asks the same question Over and Over then there probably trying to Redirect the Conversation.
Another tip: If somebody is already suspicious, call them out for something like "chasing you" or "faking a task" but be more like "they were sort of chasing me" and "i think they faked a task" because then if you are wrong, it is more likely they will not target you and they will probably move on to somebody else that is suspicious. edit: this was supposed to be for impostors but i guess you can sort of use it if your a crewmate
You forget about the fake tasks. Most tasks have multiple parts so the meter doesn't go up until you are completely done. Wires and download and garbage etc have multiple parts so the task bar not going up on one part doesn't mean someone is impostor
Here’s how I win: •Sabotage lights •everyone goes to electrical •kills a person in the area where everyone is standing in •someone reports •everyone is confused •repeat until 3 players •sabotage oxygen •fake fixing oxygen so the 2 other people won’t bother fixing it •oxygen runs out •VICTORY •repeat if I’m imposter
Honestly same. While I know most people who prefer impostor are just in it for the thrill... I kinda keep my eye on them. Idk doing mini games is fun. That’s why games like fall guys are fun. A huge compilation of mini games.
@@airplane6417 that depends, if nobody is expecting a self report, then that is the best move regardless of experience, it doesn't matter if it is shameful or not, it IS a game about deception and, and playing with expectations is the root of all deceptions.
I remember a time where I killed someone in the cafeteria, I vented out to weapons (I closed the doors to cafeteria), and I 'randomly' found the body. I self-reported it, and the vote was skipped. I ended up winning the game.
Voting *too* quickly is a thing too; like if you vote right when the voting had begun without discussing with anyone else, you can see why that's a little sus
Matpat did specify that voting early for the impostor means you're more likely to be innocent, because impostors are less likely to vote out their partners unless it's clear that everyone else is onto them. If you are the first to vote out somebody that isn't the impostor, than you are just as likely to be the impostor as anybody else.
Another great tip: Memorize all the "common tasks." Common tasks are tasks that appear on everyone's task list. If you see someone fake a common task, they are the impostor. One time I saw someone faking the admin card scan even though it wasn't on my task list. I called emergency meeting and told everyone what happened. The rest of the crew did not know what common tasks were. I later died and the impostor won.
That’s partially true, MOST crew mates have common tasks except for 1 or 2, this happened to me because I was on polus as crewmate and didn’t do keys. Someone later brought this up that 3 people didn’t do keys and was defending myself. I later get killed but that was because a crewmate became 3rd imposter and said I vented.

@@dstrylone I have actually played and I never noticed that so i am sorry it is not a big deal
Also when mat was explaining the fake tasks part with the trash as an example which is also a multi task makes it a bad example
I’m soooo glad someone pointed this out
I was about to say that
Hopefully this rises in the comments because most players don't actually know this and cause the game to go poorly for getting their suspicions wrong. A better way to explain this is to know what multi part tasks have a definite ending and follow that player through to the end of it. You will then know if they are to be trusted.
Yeah, my brother made that mistake when accusing someone
The part where you said "if you see someone at a task and the taskbar doesnt go up, theyre a faker" isnt actually 100% correct. A lot of the tasks like the cafeteria garbage ones have multiple parts to them, and the taskbar wont go up until all of them are completed.
Oh my gosh yes. I’ve been doing wiring last a lot and someone calls an emergency meeting to blame me
People can't understand this concept so i just don't like doing tasks
thats rights. but if you know its only a short task it is quite safe to asume. so knowing the tasks gives you an aventage
Rick Astley that makes you a bad teammate

Lookin forward to Matpat's hide n seek theories. There's a lot we have to work with.
For the meter, there is one *critical* detail:
Partial tasks *do not* increment the meter, only a fully completed task. For example, the first two wire panels performed by a crewmate don't increment the meter, but the third one will.

The ending was beautiful!
Agreed
It was fr
True tho
It's Among Us, you dont expect a happy ending here
Sounds kinda sus
I tend to always go to cameras. As a crew member, I can tell who the imposter is bu if they enter a room with only one path and never leave, or if they walk into a room with someone else and only they leave. Since I go to cameras every round, the suspicion is often never thrown on me because I can always claim I’m in cams and everyone trusts it. As an imposter, I can see if anybody goes into medbay and quickly vent over there to perform the deed and be back within 3 seconds. Nobody knows a thing.
Not bad bro
Until the big brains with knowledge of the how the vent systems are connected enter the game
(Edit for typo)
Well I have friends who camp admin so they'd know if you left security
@Sunny 1983 Fair point and flaw to my method, however most randoms don’t camp admin, so it’s generally alright. Besides, for all they know, I wandered out to check on something or to do a task. It’s rather hard for them to pin a murder on me because I left security for 3 seconds.
@@readypickles in my group there are always 2 people camping admin and 2 security/logs so that even if 1 in a group is impo his statements can be ruled as false and if both in a group are impo then their statements can be ruled false by the other group
What I have learned from this video:
*dont trust myself, don’t trust others and don’t trust anything*
Sounds about right
You’re sus
Idk, im kinda sus
We're all sus
Tfw someone votes themselves
I did that and it didn’t work for some lobbies

bro, THATS GENIUS!!!
You forget about the fake tasks. Most tasks have multiple parts so the meter doesn't go up until you are completely done. Wires and download and garbage etc have multiple parts so the task bar not going up on one part doesn't mean someone is impostor
Yeah
Here’s how I win:
•Sabotage lights
•everyone goes to electrical
•kills a person in the area where everyone is standing in
•someone reports
•everyone is confused
•repeat until 3 players
•sabotage oxygen
•fake fixing oxygen so the 2 other people won’t bother fixing it
•oxygen runs out
•VICTORY
•repeat if I’m imposter
100% 10,000 IQ plays there mate
Me who doesnt fix anything: 😌
sometimes it doesnt work because the killing animation shoots you forward :/
WYX simply stack yourself correctly
but that's kinda random, as stack kills has always been, plus no one is gonna stack again after 2 times max, or else idk what kindvof jrain they have

I'm never imposter
I wish I was though
Honestly same. While I know most people who prefer impostor are just in it for the thrill... I kinda keep my eye on them. Idk doing mini games is fun. That’s why games like fall guys are fun. A huge compilation of mini games.

ooooooooooh
@@kamencraftbrasil4367 it is shameful and low. It is not a good tactic with regulars.
I ended up winning the game.
i learned from you to never vote on 7, self reporting, never killing sus crewmates and to target clear people

"the earlier they vote, the less sus they are"
Litterally every random group I've played with when I vote first : that's pretty sus
rule of thumb, don't be first, but don't be last
Voting *too* quickly is a thing too; like if you vote right when the voting had begun without discussing with anyone else, you can see why that's a little sus
I wait for the mass of votes to scome in right after discussing. Try to fit in with the group as much as possible.
It applies besides for the first vote.
I later get killed but that was because a crewmate became 3rd imposter and said I vented.
whenever i am Crewmate i annoy people
You should sabotage comms before doing the deed near a camera, to avoid getting caught
