Lisa is brilliant, to end a show while it's still on top is a fantastic idea. But am still holding on to hope that she'll bring these character back one day🤞🤞. Thank you for the laugh out loud moment that this show brings , I've not laughed this much watching a comedy series.

Ok this is the third negative comment I’ve seen from you in the last few minutes. Clearly you’ve got a bee in your bonnet over something. Did Lisa McGee run over your cat or something? They’ve just left high school, of course their stories aren’t finished.

@@christophersmith3272 I've been a fan of DG since it was first shown. I'm disappointed at it ending without any success for any of the main characters. We don't find out what qualifications any of them gain & there's no indication of any of them going to university. None of them say what jobs they're intending to do, nor what their ambitions are for their lives. None of them get more than a kiss from anyone.

@@andrewjones575 i feel like at the end of the day the focus came back to what the show represents in terms of history rather than the characters in a personal sense like obviously the show is about the girls and the fans all love them because theyre what gives the show its charm but at its core it’s a statement about northen irish history and it finished perfectly in light of that in my opinion

Da Gerry in Season 3 is absolutely my father circa 1998. The hair, the glasses, the whole look and general demeanor are absolutely my Scots-Irish American dad. He has yet to make the connection, and we’ve seen the show through at least five times 😅 And Uncle Colm’s personality is a dead ringer for one of my Mum’s brothers, it’s scary. But bravo Miss McGee, you’ve created a masterpiece that makes me laugh until I cry and cry until I laugh.

I was introduced to the Derry Girls a month ago and have just finished all three seasons. Loved it! I’m often challenged with understanding strong accents, (that is, accents to my Canadian ears), so I’ve rewatched a number episodes to ensure hear every piece of dialogue. I particularly enjoyed the introduction of the Canadian cousin, illustrating our typical insecurity of being assumed to be an American. Such a wonderful show, which often brought me to tears a number of times, especially the last scene of the final show following the Good Friday voting results.

Derry Girls... is so funny and emotional at the same time. I love all characters. We had all the stereotypes here in the black forest in Germany as well - but without the northern ireland conflict. While the pilot and season one seems to be slightly exaggerated. The feeling of growing up in the 90s was exactly that. I was born 1980.

I'm not a writer but, the story feels like there's still enough room for another episode or movie. Apply the referendum vote and it's life changing adjustments. The last episode of Father Ted had closure, they remained in Ireland and not the U.S.

The golden rule for sitcoms is keep it short and sweet, that's the way to garner classic status, and on this point the show was almost a complete triumph.
The very first episode is probably the best. It was a self-contained joy and a masterclass of comic writing of the very highest order. The rest of series one was sublime, without quite reaching that early summit. Series two was good, very good, a very acceptable difficult second album. The third series started to show cracks. It lost it's comic focus and became clunky. The finale was heavy-handed, preachy and lacking in the central requirement, humour.

Season 3 was a big dissapointment, it lacked the wit & groundedness of the first 2 seasons. The characters became way to exaggerated and there were many unnecessary subplots that messed with the pacing and direction of episodes.

Derry Girls works best as a series of sketches. It is less interesting as a sitcom. The only characters which are notable are the adults: Colm, the grandfather, the father, mother and aunt. All the rest are very boring, one dimensional and dis-believable. It also poses are a microcosm of Norn Iron. And carefully ignores, or is unaware of, the complexity and diversity of N Irish Catholic experience of Protestants. It’s probably set too late to have anything meaningful to contribute, even lightheartedly to the NI of the so called Troubles. All in all. akin of saying U2 are absolute shite and Seamus Heaney was a misogynist, Derry Girls would’ve been better off left in the imagination of Lisa McGee. And all references to Irish America banished from this green and pleasant land banished to somewhere outside called Boresville..

There's a lack of direction & success in the lives of the teens. We don't know what they want to do with their adult lives. I thought they'd show us them finding out about their exam results & applying to university or to jobs. I expected that some - especially Erin & James - would get a lot further than a mere kiss.

No more seasons, it ended in a perfect high. but definitely should do a Movie with a side plot and also a spin off on Orla taking a Curling Team to world recognition
