That thumbnail picture he looks like George Thorogood I've never seen Pat with hair so short but all that aside, Pat's one of the best and still kicking it hard! Age hasn't gotten in his way.
I was just listening to Crash and Burn which made me think to look Pat and check out some videos. And I noticed this. Very interesting. I really wish more people knew about his work. I'd say for my favorite, it would be a toss up between "Go for What You Know" and "Crash and Burn". Really all his stuff is very good and quite varied in sound. Thanks for the video.
I remember seeing him in a bar in Gatineau, Quebec several times in the 70's with his band "Red Hot". Pat stood out from every other guitarist in the region; a true virtuoso. The rest of his career is typical of many musicians of the era: found success, found drugs, found bottom. Some make it and some don't. I wish him all the best - he was a hell of a player back then.
So, no mention of the “darker side” of his career. . .Nose Candy! Once he started doing it regularly, his band mates started distancing themselves from him. Pat Thrall and Tommy Aldridge left. Travers lifestyle had drained his budget and his nice $300,000 sound and light system was sold to pay debts. The record company saw the signs and pulled most of his backing. To revive his career he joined a band and started to write more commercial songs, but failed. He used his previous success to continue touring, playing his old favorites…but he never reached the heights of his past. “Go For What You Know” is one of the best live albums ever!
The stint with Thrall ruined Travers. The music was great… but he got insecure about his standing in his own band as keyboards became more prominent and he was the one playing them… while Pat Thrall was dazzling audiences with his guitar playing. So he moved Thrall out of the band. And that was the beginning of his decline. Btw, if you want to hear a killer record check out the Thrall project called Automatic Man. With Todd Cochrane (‘Bayete’) on keys and vox, Doni Harvey on bass, and Santana’s dazzling Mike Shrieve on drums (and Impakt electronic percussion), the first eponymous record is killer.
I saw Pat Travers open for Rainbow at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, Pa. on May 10, 1981. Great show. Cheers! 🥨 Maybe you could do one on The Romantics?
I’m sure he’s the first musician to party, not condoning but do 4 shows and a TVvshow in 2 days a few years in a row and you’ll see, again not condoning but understand
YOU FORGOT OR MAYBE DON'T KNOW WHY THE BAND BROKE UP, THRALL/ALDRIDGE BEEN FIRED OR THEY QUIT , SI SOMEBODY KNOWS, I HAD MY TICKET IN 1980 TO SEE THEM LIVE BUT THEY TOLD TRAVERS HAD A PROBLEM WITH VOCAL CHORDS ?
One of my favorite live albums Go For What You Know.
Best kept secret with 40+ albums released in his career. Saw him a few years ago and he still has great chops.
40 albums??? and I can’t name one song?
So what ?@@buzzedalldrink9131
Crash and Burn is one of my all time faves...
Pat Travers always kicks ass, killer band, excellent live record
Always among the best.
'Makin Magic' remains my go to PT album. It is a great collection of songs.
I was in a band called Romeos Bleeding in the 90's. Pat sat in with us a few times. Really great player and great guy too!

I thought the exact same thing. 😜

If you don't know Black Pearl, you should check it out. All killer, no filler.

The problem with Canadian Rock artists is, um well, they're uh....Canadian. 🙅♂️

Smoking whiskey, drinking cocaine.
Go for What you Know is one of the best live albums of the 70's, in my opinion.
Boom boom out go the lights!!!
I saw them open for Bad Company in 83.
Everyone else said the show sucked, but the hallucinogenics were working well for me that night.

True, the road is a tough place. Nearly killed a bunch of rock stars.
saw him in Chicago crash and burn tour opened for def leppard. man he was fantastic. played his melody maker and an arp odyssey
People forget that Hendrix actually played in Montreal, where, I can’t imagine.
He played at the Paul Sauve' arena in Montreal one night only in '68 and my two older brothers saw him !
Did he perform with the late John Entwistle ? I think i read about it
PT was Great on the Rush Tour...'78 I believe...Became a Lifelong Fan...
Another Ronnie Montrose connection. You could probably use him for musicians like Kevin Bacon is used for actors.
I saw him in a club last year
Saw him open for Blackmore.79 Chicago Amphitheater
Great video!!
Glad you enjoyed it
He is touring now i believe! Everyone is its summer
Uhhh….just saw him live a few months ago. Still kicking ass.

@@bigpoppa5732 and Frankie Banali(drummer) passed away as well.
He's touring right now, that's what happened.
He crashed and burned and Boom Boom out went his lights. Cause he's been snorting whiskey and drinking cocaine.
