How to turn an Ironman game to a Normal game in EU4/Stellaris!

- Hello guys, today I will show you how to turn any ironman game to a normal game so you can use cheats in the console command tab. Please Subscribe!

For the EU4 boys out there:
0) Backup your save.
1) Write down the in-game date of when you saved. You'll need it for later.
2) Change the extension of the save from .eu4 to .zip
3) Extract the gamestate file into the save games folder. Ignore the other files.
4) Add .eu4 to the gamestate file
5) Force the game to load gamestate.eu4. It'll complain, but you should manage.
6) Don't Unpause! Save an uncompressed non-ironman save.
7) Open your new save in Notepad++ and change the date at the begging of the file to the date the ironman save was at. This is important, cause otherwise a lot of things will be weird.
8) Load the save you made.

Works like a charm. No reverting to IM unfortunately.
For those of you asking about removing the .txt extension:
When you have the text file open, do a SAVE AS, and then use quotation marks around the file name (for windows). It will then save the text file as a File.
Example: Save AS -> "gamestate" -> Enter, or, Save AS -> "meta" -> Enter
After this I had an issue converting the "zip" back to a "sav" file. Here is how to do that:
1) In the file explorer tab you already have open: Click on View
2) On the far right of the view ribbon, click on "options"
3) Of the 3 tabs in "folder options", click on "View"
4) In the list of check boxes: Deselect "Hide extensions for known files"
5) Click "Apply"
6) Rename your zip file as sav
the only thing you will have to do is delete the .txt files before you remerge them! Hope it helps!
Tested, and good to go! Thank you for this video, I was not about to watch three solid days of game play go right down the tubes because my entire fleet ignored the contingency fleet to attack the stupid space hub until they all died. SMH

When I rename it to .txt it disappears and I can’t remove it later so it doesn’t work how do I fix this
All I had to do was open the .sav file in 7zip and edit the two files with ironman=no and save it and that was it. Worked everytime.
this still works but you need to type false rather than no.
how about eu4 save files?

Just tried this step by step. It did not work for me :(
In eu4 the file is encrypted, maybe paradox was fixed it.

Shows a broken save file now in Stellaris. Shame, really would have loved to smash the cheating AI in to pieces.
What do you do when you change the name to .sav but it doesn't want to change back into a save file?
So you first compress the 2 files gamestate and meta into a .zip and then change that to a .sav

@@vault1230 the .zip disipears in the name and it turns into that zip thingy, but when you type in .sav it dosent turn back bcs in the properity's it says that its with the .zip but in the file name you dont see the .zip so..we kinda stuck with that
also the galaxy somehow got deleated i dont have it anymore and the zip file says its not the right one..when theres no other one so im guessing they somehow patched this
