Any disease tends to kill the elderly and weak. SARS-nCOV-2 just infects a large number of people quickly. This increases the chances of a high-risk person from contracting the virus and dying. Most people are not gonna die, in fact most people who are infected will never know they had it or will only have mild symptoms. Is this a Pandemic? Of course it is! This is probably the gonna be similar to the 2009 Flu Pandemic but just happen quicker and probably less severe.
We're all probably going to be exposed or even infected by the virus (It's even possible we already have been) and it's probably gonna be no worse then the flu for the average healthy person.

SARS is not Covid-19. You are mistaking SARS CoV-2 and Covid-19 to be the same. They are not the same. I understand that the news may be easing fear in others, but misinformation is not the way to do this. By stating H1N1 ( common flu), and comparing it, is incorrect. I do not like media panic either, but I do love research paper, epidemiology, and case studies. To compare a 0.3% death rate to the Covid-19 3% death rate is ridiculous. You realize that is 100 times the death rate. Even with the reported .1% death rate of the flu is incomparable, as Covid-19 is 33 times higher. Of course there is a hypothesis that China has under reported infections, and that those asymptomatic (and possibly remain that way) are not reported. But, with that same hypothesis, China would be under reporting deaths as well (with multiple whistleblowers whom illegally got evidence out of the China supporting this hypothesis). With multiple factors such as the R0, hypothesized (with some confirmed) Covid-19 mutations - especially showing in Iran with a raised death rate, the insertions within the viruses gnome that would only happen 1 in a billion in nature (not including the multiple jumps it would have to go through for person to person contract in nature), asymptomatic periods lasting (so far - but may extend) 28 days - yet highly contagious during this time (both asymptomatic time line and the contagion factors during this time being previously unseen), and the most current factors of this virus being contracted without a specified source in multiple countries. This virus is mutating so quickly that we have had a confirmed case of human to K-9 transfer. And we are now seeing evidence of those whom "recovered" from active Covid-19 infection, and released into the community with a negative test, show symptoms of self-reinfection and postive testing. This means this virus has been completely unseen by the human body. Our body's immune system has no response and has not currently had any positive evidence that it can build up an immunity to Covid-19. Evidence suggests once a person contracts Covid-19, they have it for life, and (when it becomes active from laying dormant) many renown specialists hypothesize it may be stronger from mutations created as defense to our body's response. Therefore, if you become infected and you do not die, you have a higher probability of dying 6 months to 18 months later. Nothing like the flu. SARS was contained because you have a very short incubation period and it is detected quickly. It is almost impossible to contain a virus that lays in asymptomatic incubation for up to 28 days, yet still contagious. It is better to inform the public with the truth. Not sugar coated, no panic induced, not fear mongering, not false comparison statements, but the full truth. If anyone wants any chance to overcome this, we need to communicate and work together.

I like this lady. Tells the truth, "We don't know," and what we can do about it, including watch and wait.
In the last 40 years, I have not had the flu or a bad cold, the kind I used to get quite frequently as a kid. My childhood colds had a pattern -- 3 days of increasingly painful sore throat leading into days of nose blowing, sometimes so profuse I wondered where it was all coming from.
In grad school, back in the old days, I happened to read Pauling's book on Vit. C use as a cold/cancer preventative and to reduce symptoms of a cold. Vit C never prevented me from getting a cold. But when taking it early (and early is the key) at first symptoms of cold or perhaps flu, the effect is miraculous for me, and I need only take 250mg a day, not the megadoses Pauling recommended (8000mg). With Vit. C at onset of first symptoms, Instead of a bad sore throat, I get a tiny sore throat, and then into three days of very minor nose blowing, hardly any, and then the cold is gone. Then I stop with the Vit. C. Who knows, maybe it will work with any virus for me? Pauling's ideas about Vit. C have been tested and mostly disproved, at least for cancer, and taking megadoses of Vit C can lead to kidney stones in some people. Again though, for the few people where Vit C is highly effective in symptom reduction, like me, you can just take a much smaller dose, and get the same result.

    • @TreasureX7

Vitamin C: First day- 2000 mg, second day - 2000, third day- 1000, forth day- 1000, fifth day - 500( half tablet) , sixth day- 500. Also colloidal silver. Take it before you get completely sick. I do for years, because I am a caregiver and have no right to get sick. Actually, I take vitamin C everyday and do it at home as a Liposamol, it is 100 time stronger than regular v. C .

Cooking Lessons for Dad they don’t cuz masked drs have gotten it. Drs and nurses wear maskes mainly to protect patients from germs they may have so patients don’t get secondary infection on top of the problem they came to hospital with. Surgeons wear them to help keep patients from being exposed to the surgeons germs. The only way a mask protects tge wearer is if it has a respirater and p 95 or better filter system. With tight facial seal And those are exhausting to wear.

I asked a High School teacher yesterday if he had hand sanitizer for the students in his class. He said the school provides dispensers to each class, but they had no alcohol in them because hand sanitizer with the required 60% alcohol necessary to kill the virus is stolen and consumed as alcohol by the students. What?! They drink the hand sanitizer!? And these are the people who will be left alive to run the world? Bernie's success among youth voters suddenly makes sense.
Yesterday I tried to count the number of times I habitually touched my face... I stopped counting at 100. I see the same thing at the movie theater among those serving popcorn and drinks. I see it among those at the check-out counter at the grocery store. I see it in church. The mask isn't just to stop cough droplets, it also prevents you from touching your mouth and face without realizing it and then touching other people and surfaces. If you can be contagious for over a week before you get symptoms, then using a mask can keep YOU from personally being responsible for the deaths of others.
The government should be sponsoring the dissemination of masks and effective sanitizer to schools around the country, as should businesses with high traffic. We already have hand sanitizing wipes in most of our grocery stores, why not other areas where close-contact is expected such as theaters, churches, bowling alleys, malls, apartments, etc.
Everybody keeps saying that "It's not going to kill as many people as the flu this year". Well duh, only a few hundred people have it now, but it's 20x more lethal than the flu. So imagine 20x more people dying each year than die from the flu today. If 61,000 people died from flu last year, and the World Health Organization estimates that 60-80% of the population will be exposed to this eventually and that it will repeat seasonally... do the math! That's tens of millions of people dead per year once this fully saturates the population.
Or maybe it'll just suddenly die out once the weather gets warm, who knows! But that's the point, NOBODY really KNOWS. So it's really tiresome to see these people say that the world is over-reacting. Anybody who can see the percentages and do the math, who have even the most basic of knowledge about historical precedents, will be thinking "maybe I should hope for the best but prepare for the worst".
My great grandparents died from the Spanish Flu. Their children were raised as orphans, and that didn't turn out particularly well for them. But suddenly we shouldn't care for our parents and grandparents? Why?
I find it hard to imagine anybody voting for a Socialist that wants the government to take over huge swaths of private corporate industry, to remove their profit incentive, hike up their already punishing taxes, and spoil the competitive forces that drive innovation in our economy. Innovation in business creates solutions to the majority of our challenges, not monopolistic government.
The only reason scientists and pathogen specialists can be so flippant is if they have a high confidence in the ability of our private companies to produce a workable and easily distributed vaccine before the population is seriously affected. There have been hints at this from U.S. and Israeli vaccine producers. I sure hope so, I would like to see my 1 year old grandson grow up. I would like to take him fishing... assuming the control freaks in government don't ban fishing poles before he's old enough to hold one.

As a Doctor from Europe, working in Asia I feel sorry for this woman. The interviewers are asking questions to which at the moment we don't have the answer and then people are been critical of her for not knowing. For many countries, we do know that we have gone past the point of containment, the number of cases globally will spiral, many doctors are saying it could effect up to 40% of the global population. Whilst we estimate fatality rate of between 1-2% of the population do the numbers, that's a huge number of people. All people can do is follow the recommendations for prevention. In countries like Hong Kong everyone wears masks and are very vigilant, they are right on the border with China yet have kept the cases down to 100 with 2 deaths so it does make you wonder.

The only way it's less is if there's a huge number of people with the illness that had no symptoms and were never tested. If that's the case, it's equally concerning because all those people are potential carriers.

⚠️ Whats missing from all of this “keep your hands out of your face” advise is the very practical side of this. As the day goes on, oils and exposures to dust, dirt and even pollens start building up on your face. This “itch” causes finger exposure to eyes, nose and forehead, etc. Its one thing to wash your hands every hour or so and our eyes and face at least twice a day. That’s fine if you have access to reasonable soap and towels all day. I found a nifty product from W Towels 6”x 6” terry towel individually wrapped in mini disposable singles and it has a mildly wet nap, perfect to tear open and clean your face on the fly. I got a bag of them at AMZN. The technique is to wipe ‘away’ from your eye lids so you don’t drag face contamination into the mucus membranes in eyes and nose, etc. I thought about using antibacterial wipes, and from what I have read, this is bad for the skin and can cause problems of irritation. These are the same type of terry towels they hand out in first class. We wash the ones at home and use them for other purposes. In quantity they are just under fifty-cents. If you don’t keep the oils from building up, you will eventually rub your eyes. This is the missing message.

Respirator works! The thing is people who are not used to wearing them tend to wear them improperly, keep touching and adjusting them, playing with it touching it and on and on and spreading the infection to their fingers and hands potentially making it worst. Hence why experts may say Masks don’t work. As well because they want to conserve Masks for the Medical Professions and Patients that need them. I’ll wear my Respirators Thank you and the right way. I’ll also wear eye protection and Nitrile Gloves. It’s disingenuous for medical professionals to say Respirators don’t work without saying people should wear them properly as well discard after one day at best if not one time proper use. But to flat out tell people Respirators don’t work because their are shortages for Medical Personnel so normal citizens shouldn’t have them or horde them as some people may do is completely disingenuous in people being able to protect themselves and not incite public panic. Why not also Go the extra mile and say if your going to wear a Respirator, wear it properly and what they should do to maximize effort. To tell you the truth, everyone has to do what it takes to protect themselves, because the government won’t save you and even some these so called experts won’t tell you the damn truth in trying to stay politically correct.
