Shooting Paramount light on medium format

- Paramount light is one of the simplest one-light techniques in principle: with smaller modifiers like the 70cm octabox I'm using here you just have to check your setup carefully to make sure you're not getting any crazy shadows. Paramount light takes its name from Paramount Studios: they made this lighting style famous in the Hollywood golden age, in studio portraits of their movie stars. The session was shot on medium format, using a Fujifilm GFX50S/63mm f2.8.
The model in this video is Carla Monaco, who I work with often. The vertical video was shot on an iPhone 7, and you'll see some completed images at the end!
Thank you so much for sharing this sort of lighting mood with us..Although it seems simple, but think it needs much care to avoid both harsh exposure or shadows on model & background.... Amazing results of one light indeed.
You have done the model justice. Very good photos.
Looks like a fun photoshoot! 😀
Just discovered your channel. Wow, your style is sublime!
Thank you so much, Rick.
Amazing photos and video, David!! Can I ask you what fan are you using? Many Thanks and Happy New Year!
Thanks so much. Sure, that fan is a Calumet Wind Tunnel.

David-Looks like a 2 light setup with a bare bulb for fill...? Is your key light placed so that the bottom of modifier is near Carla's chin?
David, for this shot did you use 70 cm deep octa or 100 cm? Realy amazing shots!
Thanks! 70cm here.
@@DavidShoukry thanks 🙂 Do you often use 70? Can you compare to 100? I have studio smaller than yours and must find new solution to replace my 135 octa.
I don’t use the 70cm that often, to be honest. It is very good: you get a pretty dramatic look, but that’s not always what I’m going for so I use it quite sparingly!
Thanks David for sharing the bts. Was this entirely one light setup?
Girish Joshi yes, just one light.
@@DavidShoukry Thanks
I think this is not a real escheme of paramount light actors.
