When i was on vacation in “Barcelona” I met this “Galway girl” named “Nancy Mulligan”. I was “happier” then before and thought that “hearts don’t break around here”. I bought her “supermarket flowers” and told her: “i fell in love with the “shape of you” and i would “dive” in the deepest ocean for you”. Everything was just “perfect”. But 2 days later when i was at the “castle on the hill” I saw her with a “new man”. I asked her “”How would you feel” if i did that to you?” She said: “I’m sorry, i just had to “save myself” for you to hurt me.” But “what do i know”? I took an “eraser” and deleted the memory and thought “bibia be ye ye (everything will be alright)”.

I am Spanish, from Catalonia (so catalan, too). Although Ed describes the city as a non-stop party, we have to agree with the fact that you can't describe accurately a whole city in a song. OMG! Can people relax a little bit? Yes, the song is full of stereotypes that do not fully represent Barcelona. No, we don't use the word "mamasita". I don't think though that Ed's intentions were to write an anthem about Barcelona. I don't think he intended to offend us either. I believe Ed's intentions were to pay tribute to a city he loves (from the tourist perspective, but that what's he is, a tourist) through a melody and words that convey positivism, having fun, flirting and freedom. I'm from Barcelona and I'm not offended at all. Do I feel represented by the song? No. But I'm not offended and I actually like it. In July 2015 I was lucky enough to have the best holiday imaginable, it was a school trip to Barcelona for a week, spent surrounded with my best friends.
