Great video port protection It's one of my favorite TV shows I watched the reruns over and over all the time it's beautiful there I wanted to move to Alaska when I was younger but my wife would not go and I dream about it and now I'm an old man and I love to watch port protection my favorite show can't stop dreaming about it everyday.
Coming back to Seattle from Cordova we almost stopped at Port Portection but decided to go to Hoonah instead since there was a bigger transient dock. I do watch the show and find it very interesting.
I think Port Protection is more interesting. It is a very remote community. Hoonah has created a tourism area by the cruise ships.... people sometimes focus on that instead of the actual community.
Love your videos and commentary. As I write this you are about 30 minutes from Dodds Narrows according to AIS. Saw you go by Qualicum Beach earlier today and took a photo.
Hello 😊 If one were to boat non-stop from Wrangell to port protection how long would it take ? It looks about 100 miles ? Are the waters calmer in that area ?
I am curious why do you have the two bow ropes attached to the anchor chain I assume it is to stabilise your anchorage but a fuller description as to the why's and implementation would be cool please. By the way fade out the intro section music prior to the transition to the video filmed, will be more slick. There are just so many idilic spots in your neck of the woods, I am so envious, I live on a barge in the UK and its all very quintessentially English regarding my journeys out and about, little villages trees and fields etc, but would love your scenery.
It is an anchor bridle. It changes the angle of the anchor rode. The N55 bow is around 10 feet off the surface of the water. The bridle changes the anchor chain to start the angle about 2 feet above the water. This changes the angle of the anchor rode so the anchor holds better by reducing the angle to the anchor shank. I hope that makes sense. I will try the fade away for the next intro which I will be having to prepare soon. So cool that someone from England is watching our videos!
I watch a TV program about Port Protection all about the lives of its inhabitants. Trials and tribulations it’s very interesting. Oh and the beer , wine liquor and tops rolling papers that’s about every thing you need. 😂
Eric also watches the show Port Protection, so he was all about visiting the place. He had fun meeting folks and poking around. Busy place with the tv crews motoring around....
We are exploring the option of going smaller! Everyone seems to want bigger, but we think life may be less complicated going smaller. We still have empty spaces on the boat. We will see what happens.... spring is coming and we are getting antsy to get back on the water cruising.....
Your videos and Skookum's are the best PNW/Nordhavn videos. I always enjoy living vicariously through your adventures.
Thank you so much! That is great to hear.
We loved our visit to Port Protection.🤩
😀.... as you can tell, I am a little behind on my social media.....
I love to watch your videos, one of my dreams for when i retire in the future is to buy a boat and explore around like this. Keep up the good work!
I am so glad you are enjoying the videos! Save money!

Hello 😊

It looks about 100 miles ?
Are the waters calmer in that area ?
I don’t have those charts loaded right now because we are on the east coast. Eric says less than 100 miles. The waters are pretty protected.
Thank you 😊
Best wishes to you guys… maybe I’ll run into y’all somewhere around POW…
I plan on making that area my new stomping grounds
This is a great video! 😊 Do you remember the name of the Port Protection movie that you mentioned?
The official name of the series is "Port Protection Alaska." It can be found on Disney+ or maybe Hulu. So glad that you liked the video!
Nice 3-pointer Eric! 🏀
I was shocked that he made so many baskets!!!
I wondered what the little grocery store looked like, thanks
You’re welcome 😊 I always wonder what will be available in the small towns.

what's the name of the show and what channel?
The show is called “Port Protection “ and I believe it’s on Nat Geo channel.
Eric also watches the show Port Protection, so he was all about visiting the place. He had fun meeting folks and poking around. Busy place with the tv crews motoring around....
Eric, I just saw the listing on your fabulous Havaseas. moving to something bigger?

Was that Larry Bird?
I guess there are some similarities.....😀
I think it's really rude that you guys thought it was okay to trespass on Gary Muehlberger's property and film where he perished!
We sincerely apologize! The story was shared with us during our visit and we were greatly saddened. We did not intend to be disrespectful.
@havaseas I didn't see any kind of disrespect or rudeness whatsoever.
