  • As the busy summer days are slowly coming to an end, we caught up with our friends Fruity Flock (Green Cheeked Conures and Black Capped Conure) and House of Conures (4x Sun Conures). We went to our favourite woodland for flying and enjoyed some time together.

I love how much their personalities shines through to their free flight patterns (even though it might not always be practical with Quaffles "high tree love" lol)

Shes got much better at coming down recently. It is cute to see how different they are. Your Charlie for example is so comfortable outside in all environments. I'm so jealous you can take her almost anywhere with you

She had an amazing trainer (quaffle btw) ;)
I think it's so cool how calm you are when you are out flying with them, truly an inspiration.

@@stellaandcharlie I think the calmness is because I know them and their personalities and flight behaviour. And I trust the amount of training I'm continuously doing with them

She really does. She prefers to be where she can scout for danger.

Looks amazing. I suppose, if my parrot get on the tree, she will remain to live on it. I try to teach her recall (more than a year 🙁), but for some reason she doesn't want to do it. Though I teach her the other tricks easily. She flies only when she wants to fly. Usually in the morning she has mood to fly, I launch her and after flying to another room she returns. But any other time it's completely impossible to make her fly to me. I have suspicion, that she has learnt NOT to execute this command. Because she definitely know, what I want from her.

Usually if they don't want to fly its due to lack of confidence or lack of muscle strength, and In some rare instances mild pain from an unknown injury. Its more than likely lack of confidence or lack of stamina/lack of endurance. That 1 fly could be the equivalent of someone who rarely goes the gym trying to lift a 100kg dead lift. Just one rep is enough to tire them out. Try starting small with hops or jumps from perch to hand and slowly make it longer

@@PionusTales Actually my parrot had health issues and probably they have not completely disappeared. I bought a chicken with rickets and bacterial disease, but revealed this only after year, when it got worsen. The first vet I visited after buying her had missed the problem. I hope she will fly more in the future and encourage her as much as I can. In summer I walk with her a lot, but strictly on a leash.

@anastasiyasinyakova8060 aww bless her. Not surprising she's not in the mood to fly though. Time and patience are magic in this situation. Hopefully once she's feeling better and got a but more stamina she'll be more motivated to fly. Its great that you take her out for walks! ❤️
