Take heart Hell Raiser...just had my revision 7/13. Almost one month...much more comfortable and I look forward to much more mobility and comfort. Love my Doctor! I stayed in rehab after...home this weekend. Good Luck to you....all will be well.
Thank you. Getting a revision in 3 days. Hospital stay is overnight and expected to be a straight-forward procedure. Hopefully it will be. Original hip replacement done almost 20 years ago and worn out.
I am a 60 year old male and I had total hip replacement 20 days ago the first 5 days where a little tough but no hip pain. I then received PT therapy in house the first three sessions were great no pain no problems the last of the pt was on day 15 she had me doing squats step ups and walking 10,000 steps a day plus 7 other exercises three sets of 10 each which I had no problem doing. Unit the next day I could not walk or could not put pressure back on that new hip and the pain was just like before, I went to the doctor yesterday he took an x-ray and said everything was fine that I am overworked the area that I need to let it rest and recover and that the pt person was wrong for pushing me on the PT. Today is day two of icing and not moving at all other than needed and I’ve have no relief it feels like it’s dislocating at the top of the hip it’s when I roll off the tip of my toes I feel pressure at the top of the hip in the front and down my leg and a lot of pain in my right knee. Has anyone else ever experienced this and do you think it’s just swelling or a pinched nerve my surgeon is a little aloof he has a great reputation and has been doing anterior hip replacements for 12 years averaging 4 to 8 a week he also does knee replacement. I’m fearful that I’ve done something that he does not want to disclose to me ? Thanks for your help or advice Howard.
Hello sir I hope all is well. Wow that PT was crazy. I tell ppl all the time to be very careful with therapy because they will over work you and push you too fast if you let them. The quicker they get you back to doing better the better it makes them look. It seems to me that your doctor gave correct assessment at the time. But if rest and ice doesn't work it could have loosened a bit which will cause the symptoms you described and the right knee could be from over compensating to ease the pain from the hip. How's it going now
@@tommythompsonsurfer had mind done aug 2019 the healing was quick no pain until a few days ago feeling pain from groin area to back and front up and down to the knee hoping its nothing that requires another surgery
First hip replacement in Chicago was installed at an obtuse angle. Revision surgery 2 weeks later. Months later Iwas very sick and the hip was infected. 16th surgery tomorrow and 8th hip. Hip infections are a bitch to recover from. I had 8 seperate pics lines. Ive been dealing with this for 5 years now
Thank you for sharing you have helped me live with my arthritic hip . I’m going to get a cane and call it good . I don’t have the stomach for surgeries
@@intensivemanagement Mine was neglect and total disservice. I am walking with pain and a limp. Never give up. I had my shoulder reaplaced in October of 2023. No pain. Went perfect.
@@greggiuliani4830 sir I respect your knowledge and what you’ve been through but my bone on bone is painful when I limp walk but I couldn’t stomach infections and revisions at 59 . Do you feel there’s too much of a risk in trying to replace or do you think improvements are coming in the near future?
Thank you for discussing this. My revision on my right hip takes place on 9/28/17. I just have to see what the recovery time is going to be, and what materials will be used.
No one has mentioned my problem: my new hip makes that leg much longer! I had hip surgery, and after 12 years I needed a revision. The plastic between the ball and joint became dislodged, so my surgeon put a larger ball in. I am one month short of 69 years old. I went home the same day of surgery. Hardly any pain. No PT because I am familiar with it since I have had both hips as well as both knees and both shoulders replaced over the years due to wear and tear. I feel fine, only used the walker 3 days. No cane. I just want to know when I will be able to get back to my active life: skiing, cycling, tennis, walking, exercise classes.
Must have been a typo: I had the revision after 7.5 years. I think I needed the revision because my other hip has no restrictions since I had anterior surgery, but this newer hip has restrictions since I had posterior surgery, and I am an active person who has a difficult time following restrictions.
My 83 yrs old grandmom had a partial hip surgery last december 2021, 8 months after she developed an infection and the suggestion was a 2 stage revision. Family is against it due to her age to get another major surgery. Since the 1st surgery made her develop a dementia. Im trying to look for survival rate since im pro surgery but ill be blamed if something bad happen to her

@@mrnotsoperfect2190 I heard in revision hip they need to cut and tear muscle to remove and replace a new hip .some people are left shorter on one leg , that true .

I am extremely sympathetic as I went through one revision and it was quite a difficult experience.

Is revised hip replacement successful? After after how much time you needed hip replacement to be revised ?
How was your recovery?
