    Hello, I'm Don Boyer, a.k.a. the Deck Tailor, and I sell breather decks like this in the US for $15 a pack in many standard USPC designs and colors.The secret isn't simply that it's crimped, but that the crimp is offset from the center. Fun fact regarding card control: picture that you're holding the whole deck with the crimp closer to you, and a single reversed card closer to your spectator (away from you). When you cut the deck at the break, holding it so the break doesn't show to your spectator, your reversed card will be the bottom card of the top packet. But if you swing the entire deck around and cut to the break this time, with the deck's crimps farther from you and the reversed card's crimp closer to you, and this time it will be the top card of the bottom packet.
    People ask me how long the crimp lasts. The crimps I create are large and deep - they don't really come undone, much like how if you grabbed a t-shirt and stretched the heck out of it, it doesn't become "unstretched." At the same time, because they're large and deep, they actually blend into the deck surprisingly well - spectators never spot the difference, and even trained, experienced magicians usually miss them because so few people use this type of deck - it's what makes it so darn devious.
    Here's where I sell my breather decks:
    www.donboyermagic.com/product/breather-deck-uspc-standard-deck-designs/
    In addition, I also take on commissions for private, custom work at www.thedecktailor.com/.

      Bob King (RIP) showed me something similar lets just say many years ago. However; offsetting the crimp is a game changer. Thank you!!!

    Hi, I've been using the Breather deck for quite a while now .Very useful is a one way marker and I've found that you can find the chosen card again with an overhand shuffle. It is also important how you hold the deck when you pick it up, either the drawn card is on top of the deck or under the deck.

    Was going to buy a crimping jig from Eoin to make my own deck, but £135 seems a bit to much for something to create a deck that does the same tricks as a stripper deck. There’s a good demo on Eoin’s site with handling tips.

    Are they crimped in such a way so if you break top left or bottom left it changes weather the card is in the top portion or left on the bottom portion? 🤔

    This is a really cool deck, Gaffer. Are the Mad Paper People located in Britain, or elsewhere? I remember that you said in an earlier video, I just don't remember the answer or the video it's located in.

    • @wizardwillbonner
      @wizardwillbonner 2 месяца назад

      I open the bottom of the cellophane using an exacto knife, very carefully peeling it back. Then I open the pack on the bottom. When all the effect is setup I glue the bottom flap of the box with white glue and the cellophane with a couple drops of super glue. No one has yet to notice when I hand them the deck and ask them to inspect it and then open the pack! Heads up though, Do not pull the pack all the way out of the cellophane. It's a pita to put back in, unless you use two cards.

    I'm not a native English speaker, what is "crimping" and how does it make the cards stand out like that? Does it involve magnet strips or something?

    • @gaffedacademy
      @gaffedacademy  2 месяца назад +1

      It's a small indentation in a card at 1 and so creates a raised, small bump in the card
