You go Sandra!! "Road Song." Classic, gold standard tune. Thanks so much for putting this together for us! I hope you're starting to warm up there in Austria!
Steve Douglas Thanks to you guys, who suggested "some Montgomery". Keep the requests coming. And yeah, it's the warmest April for 200 years. Around 80F for weeks now.
Thanks Sandra and I'm glad to hear that it's warming up in your part of the world. Sandra, regarding your comment about -- "Keep the requests coming," well, on the heels of your new lesson, "Road Song," I almost feel like it's too much, too soon to request, "Moonlight In Vermont." I think some other folks have requested it as well. Perhaps later this year. Thanks Sandra!!
Du bist eine tolle Lehrerin, ein Traum, so locker spielen zu können, werde mich am WE gleich damit beschäftigen und mir die Tabs besorgen... weiter so!!!😀
Thanks again Sandra. As I mentioned before it is absolutely amazing to have your arrangements available for free. I just wanted to ask you a favor. If you could sometimes throw on us some advanced arrangements as well. That we know how challenging it can get. Thanks.
Wes Montgomery, I started playing with my thumb years ago because of him. If I close my eyes, your style is very close to his. I really love his version of DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES ( Henry Mancini) and the lush chords he used, and that unique ending chord Fsus2, with the pretty ending run. There is a transcription on RUclips of some of his actual chords used.
Parabéns pela aula, ótima explicação muita técnica. estou tentando aprender para apresentar no conservatório de música aqui na cidade de (Pouso Alegre estado de Minas Gerais).
This Jazz Guitar lesson breakdown of octaves & chords, for one of Wes Montgomery's hit song. was awesome! and very enjoyable! for me to learn, actually the best RUclips version I've found that's a challenge to me to learn. I really like your teaching approach, and purchased the complete lesson package via PayPal, but what I really would appreciate greatly, if you can put together a Jazz guitar lesson package on Wes Montgomery's " Bumpin On Sunset " and "Bumpin". I can't find no Good Jazz guitar lesson out on RUclips, that matched your Lessons..
How did I miss that? Just came from your Mr. Walker lesson, when this came up. Great lesson here too. You changed so much over the years. Lost a lot of weight and your teaching style changed too. Your videos are alot shorter now. I like both, the old style and the new. You're always a great teacher, but I see how you improved.
Hello again Sandra. Regarding my previous comment in response to your comment about-- "requests" -- well, MY BAD. I meant to say, "That's All" and not Moonlight In Vermont. You've already done a wonderful lesson on Moonlight In Vermont. I just wanted to let you know this. Again, I almost feel a little greedy requesting something else just when I'm getting started on, "Road Song." I was just responding is all. Thanks for all you do!!
I did Eleanor Rigby already. But these Pop songs aren't jazz standards (this is a jazz channel!) and they immediately get demonetized, as soon as the upload is finished. So all work in vein for me. You can buy the TABs with the chord grids. A single video takes me one week in the making (this is a full time job, not a hobby!). If you don't want to spend the 3.99, you could see it as an exercise to transcribe it yourself 😉. All the info is already in the video - for free!
@@GuitarversumSandraSherman Hello! Well I was thinking of Wes' versions. His Elanor Rigby changes seem to be way different and more moving than the Beatles versions. And Wes' Windy is a great crowd pleaser jazzy version, but I think I just found a good chart of Wes' Windy! Thanks! I enjoy your lessons and am working on several of your ideas now, as in: Road Song, Affirmation, Mr. Walker and Mercy Mercy Mercy.
Hi Sandra. Is this the tutorial for the whole song? Your playthrough at the start seems somewhat shorter than Wes' four minute version. Thanks for all your effort, the tab is great and the video is clear and concise. Sol
Hi Sandra. I'd just like to thank you for your continued efforts in the jazz/guitar/RUclips community. I recently played Road Song in addition to one of my compositions for a university, and I have been offered a place on their course. Thank you for showing me that jazz doesn't have to be impossibly hard, and for your thorough lessons. :)
Sorry for a strange question, but is there a possibility that Wes may play slightly different chords / set of notes here? Or you are positive that this version is 100% accurate? Thanks.
You're correct. It's not an "Off-the-record-transcription", but my own arrangement. The chords are the same though, just different voicings and different all together arrangement.
I love Nica's Dream. It's a tricky one, though with the 2 part counter voice going on. I'll check if there's any chance arranging this as a playable version.
I love that song. I have never played it. I am probably going to transcribe it during the summer, if I have time to. Yes and then I can make a tutorial. Will take a little time, though.

Wes didnt move the wrist of right hand, it all came just from the thumb movement. He had the ring finger anchored on the strut holding the pickguard.. does it sound different ? It does... less percussive, more subtle - with more control of dynamic, I guess .. 🙃
I have no intention to 100% copy Wes' right hand technique. Just like I don't use only 2 fingers of my left hand whenever I play a Django tune, just because he did (he severley burnt his hand when he was 18).
@@GuitarversumSandraSherman Sure you dont have to 🤗 .. those who care, can learn it themselves.. But Django - we all know this old tale ..while the fact is, even his burnt fingers still could play on the fretboard, bar some techniques... he NEVER really played with only 2 fingers. He´d have to call it quits ;) This always puzzled me, how he would be able to do it - until I learned how it really was ! P.S. I admire what you´re doing.. 😍 forget my nitpicking, please..
