    This is a nice design. I bought a QAV Pro Whoop earlier this year and would have bought this instead. Seems much more versatile and useful for the $$$ spent. Putting it on my list for 2023 builds 😉

    Looks very nice but I really don't like DJI antenna placement, since I prefer to run 200mm Matchsticks from TrueRC, it would be really cool to have antennas facing up

    • @strawhatsam
      @strawhatsam  Год назад +1

      You can totally have the FPV antennas face up using the SMA 3D prints as described at 2:54 and use an ufl to SMA pigtail extension.

    Is this frame able to accommodate your naked black magic kit? If not currently, do you plan to retro fit your naked BMPCC kit work with the vulture in the future?

    • @strawhatsam
      @strawhatsam  Год назад

      No, the Vulture is not recommended for naked blackmagic. It is mean for standalone cameras with 1/4-20 mounts. I do not plan to create a retrofit for it either.

    This setup is awesome. Your rotorbuilds page is described very well.
    I like that you settled for a 6" setup.
    The big stator, 1700kv motors and high pitch props make up for the smaller disc area.
    Like you said: it is more easy to reduce jello and still stay very manouverable, compared to 7" or larger.
    Maybe your azure 6" were just unlucky. I like the gemfan 6042-3 a lot too.
    Have you tried the hq 5x4x6 on this setup?

    • @strawhatsam
      @strawhatsam  Год назад

      I should try it! I think it won't work very well though because I have designed a couple other frames that are 5" quad with beefy fast motors with the HQ 5x4x6 and the Gemfan 5" 5-blade props and with both, I didn't get much thrust and mostly hot motors and terrible Lipo sag, but with ducts and without.

    Wow, this looks like an amazing frame. Does it accomadate the new OS3 Air Unit? How does it freestyle? Not that it's meant for that but one might want to add a dynamic shot into the cinematic shot as well. Do you think it can handle a Sony Ar7 II mirrorless camera? Great video!

    • @strawhatsam
      @strawhatsam  Год назад +1

      Thanks! It does natively accept DJI O3 thanks to the 20mm vertical plate spacing. No side plates in view either. It freestyles like a monster with a gopro/Sony Rx0ii payload. With Sony A7 II and similar cameras it is a very capable cinewhoop. Small split S and roll spins are easily executed in cinewhoop-mode.

    Insane! I have motors in 2808 1500kv would it be usable on it or too little kv?

    • @strawhatsam
      @strawhatsam  Год назад

      1500kV will be too slow, I recommend 1700kV for both action cam and cinema cameras.

    • @julienchevalon1165
      @julienchevalon1165 Год назад

      @@strawhatsam So I'm thinking of doing it in Xnova 2808 1900kv then, these motors are amazing in 2808.

    if I put 35 V 1000uf capacitor it's okey? why did you put it that big?

    • @strawhatsam
      @strawhatsam  Год назад +1

      This is fine for gopro and sony rx0ii type of payloads. For cinelifting mode you will want 50V 1000-1500uf due to increases voltage and current spikes.

    Can you use the DJI 03 unit in this frame?

    • @strawhatsam
      @strawhatsam  Год назад +1

      Yes absolutely it fits natively due to the 20mm spacing of the vertical plates.

  • @radfield6089
    @radfield6089 Год назад

    would something like the brother hobby 2808s be to much for this? only 1500 and 1900kv. also what are your opinions on the BH 2806.5 vs the xnova?

    • @strawhatsam
      @strawhatsam  Год назад

      I would steer clear of the Brother Hobby 2808 motors because they slip magnets like crazy. It is a design flaw with that particular motor. If going 2806.5, I would choose Xnova 1700kV, but the Brother Hobby 2806.5 1700kV motors are good too, not not quite as much power.

    You cannot take ground footage with inverted motors

    • @strawhatsam
      @strawhatsam  Год назад +1

      You mean camera super close to the ground as you fly? Yes it will be a few inches higher, but not really noticeable once you get comfortable with the drone. You can still get quite low to the ground while flying to acheive that effect.

    • @strawhatsam
      @strawhatsam  Год назад

      @@Rohit-oz1or Based of my experiences with real flights you get about a 30 second bonus with heavy payloads. So instead of 5 min, you get 5:30 for example.
