I agree 100%, I may be a little biased here, but when I think of smooth and beautiful screams Rob Halford owns the title FOREVER. Love his low, mid and especially high range.
I feel like Mariah Carey should have been #1. Ken talked about placement, clarity, and beauty, and she has all that. She hits those whistle notes so well. Maybe I’m just really biased, but she’s one of the best singers the world has ever known.

But not of her. And Guiness had already removed her "G10" and corrected it to a note several octaves lower... apparently they re-added it later... this is all kind of weird
Speaking of high notes with clarity and support I would add the high E flat sung by Maria Callas at the end of Aida's 2nd act in Mexico in 1951. The size and ring of that full throated metallic sound is still amazing to this day.

Man, Dimash. He's so good. I would love to see LOWEST notes. I feel bass singers don't have as much recognition as they should have haha. I think they sound awesome, you should check out Avi Kaplan, Tim Foust, Geoff Castelluci, which are more modern TRUE basses.
@@kentamplin Supposedly, Tim Foust hits an A-1 (is there such a note?) in "Country Roads". But I don't have any "speakers" that can express that... but he definitely hits an A0 in "Sold". Oh, and an A5 in "Coney Island Babe"
La diferencia es que es una nota en frío... Dificilisimo... Si.. Pero te preparas para sacar esa nota.... Dimash lo hace cantando en vivo... Eso es inigualable y nunca visto... Un saludo desde Argentina
Rob Halford's last note in the first song off of Unleashed in the East smokes every one of these Imo .And he's dead on and that album came out in 79 there was no Auto-Tune or Melodyne. He couldn't have nailed that note any better. It gives you the chills. He has subtle harmonics you hear in his voice when he hits a real high . It sounds like more than one note but they are perfectly in key with one another.
Whistle tone is so hard to gauge without a frequency meter. I did some research and I believe Dimash is almost on the verge of accomplishing that E#8. I believe His D#8 is right around 5100hz which is D#8 plus 42cents and at 5126hz is where E#8 minus 49 cents starts. I could be wrong since I am no expert. Would love to hear your input on this Ken, you are the man! Keep doing these awesome and informational videos! P.S I think Dimash's whistle tone is much clearer than anyone else on this list. He has such good control of every range he has, plus it was live, fit the part of the song perfectly, sounded like an actual "Note" and he had been performing an entire concert, killer in my opinion.
I know that mariah can do above Bb7 because according to lambs mariah has a friend that said mariah was actually hitting higher than Bb7 notes but her friends said that its not pleasant to the ear and better stay at the pleasant hearing whistle.
Technically, Dimash is the best vocalist. Usually, if you can go very high, your low register may not be as perfect, but Dimash’s low notes are as good as high notes, which is phenomenal. He has unique voice of 6 octaves, and with fantastic technique, no one can do that in live. His voice takes the whole row of the piano and another note..
From his timbre and the evolution of it and his tessitura across his whole range, whould you also say he's a tenor,?dunno if low, but not very high like say Bruno Mars, that's to respond not you, but to those who would call a baritone anyone who ca reach good low notes in his middle 2nd octave and a tenor anyone with a good upper 4th and 5th octave range, but mostly the latter as low range is assumed to be more limited in the ability for anyone to expand it, because we tend to speak closer to it and there's not infinite relaxation, etc, but that's forgetting the ability to refine resonance, mixing with M0 to make a strohbass that sounds very full.
For the curious ones, H is used in german and scandinavian music notation instead of B for the same note. B is actually used to represent what others would call a Bb.
To sing those extremely high note during a song(not just to scream them for a second)it is capable,in my opinion, only Dimash(i meen d8).And you are absolutely right,he is owning the world.Nice comment, like always!
@@kentamplin I'm a sucker for "top ten" style lists, especially when they are well thought out, properly researched, and well executed. And you tend to do that very well!
Kyo from Dir En Grey hit a belted G#7 on the studio version of "Rotting Root", and he hit a falsetto C8 on his solo project Sukekiyo's "304 goshitsu shita to yoru", he regularly hits higher live. He hit a B9 whistle during a live performance of "Ware, Yami Tote", and a belted B7 at Wacken 2011.
"I'm Ken Tamplin" at the beginning seems to be a recent addition and it's a very nice touch. I don't understand why, but it is. Next up should be a top 20 on how many t-shirts one can wear in 9 minutes ;)
I've been waiting for a video like this for a long long time. I Knew most of them (not #2) and I've listened to other vocal coaches where they show a very weak and strained A9 from Nicola Sedda. I was also expecting Vitas although I think that nowadays he doesn't sing live (lip sink all the way). He achieved a C#6 and a D6 in Opera2 (he was the composer). As a side note after Dimash sang an Eb6 in his interpretation of Opera2 in the Singer competition, he threatened to sue him if he ever sang that piece again (talk about being jealous).
Dimash can whistle higher but he values musicianship above all. also, georgia brown did not sing a G10 ,that's a hoax. P.s. Piet Arion sung a B7 in his cover of s.o.s
Is Phillip Bailey of Earth, Wind, and Fire on the new list. He seems a lot higher than most on his song "Reasons" and he doesn't scream. He does it with control and ease.
This is absolutely amazing so glad I found this... now while some of them hit the highest ever in history it doesn't mean that sounds all that great. I'm still a huge Mariah Carey fan for the way that she smoothly transitions her voice from falsetto to alto with such ease
Every women is crazy about sharp clean man ! Ken, as Roxette once sang may she rest in Peace- Hes got the look ! Keep changing Ken, please these are men not one lady has said a word ♥️
Okay, I looked it up, because a G10 is hard to find, i basically had to calculate the frequency and it is slighty above 25 kHz. Average human hearing goes only up to 20kHz and even most HiFi equip cuts out a 24kHz. Most recording tools will cut that off as unnessecary frequencies, as will most audio compressors. To measure that, you need stuff from an acoustics-laboratory, not from a sound studio. That's on the low end of dog whistles!
I love you and your vids Ken but, I have to say, Dimash not only sang his D8 with 1 chance to do it but also incorporated it into a song during a live setting. Adam Lopez and Wang, from the looks of it, A. weren't singing, B. weren't performing during an actual song, instead, they look like they were just asked to take the mic and try to make a noise as high pitch/note as possible. That's totally different than what Dimash did and makes Dimash's feat even more incredible & stand-out to me. You probably know this already since you're basically a musical genius but I thought I'd mention it anyway :)

😊
@@kentamplin Supposedly, Tim Foust hits an A-1 (is there such a note?) in "Country Roads". But I don't have any "speakers" that can express that... but he definitely hits an A0 in "Sold". Oh, and an A5 in "Coney Island Babe"
Кен!!!! Спасибо, что оценили Димаша!!!!
👍
Света Вас 🙋🏻♂️👍🏻
I have sustained an A#7 before when I was practicing my whistle voice a lot more.
😊
Mariah Carey the Queen ❤️👑🐦
Dong Bird Supreme according to Guinness 👑
👍
He's exceptional, there is no doubt. A complete master of his craft. Thanks for weighing in. Rock on!
Singing a Bb7 whistle note with smile face😀!!!ONLY Mariah Carey Can DO👍👍😍
👍👍👍
I know that mariah can do above Bb7 because according to lambs mariah has a friend that said mariah was actually hitting higher than Bb7 notes but her friends said that its not pleasant to the ear and better stay at the pleasant hearing whistle.
@@lambgaming5498 Yeah that's true. Anything in the 8th octave and sometimes 7th is not pleasant.
He's incredible, Tamara!
That's a TOP! Never have heard such high notes in singing.
Soldier Breakneck 👍
From Pavarotti to Pantera, Ken Tamplin droppin’ knowledge and droppin’ names. Never a boring shirt, either!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, dijamo1969!
Super fun video, thanks Ken!
👍
That was great. I especially liked prime Ian Gillan. Nice husky tone behind those amazing falsettos!
😊
Ken, today you’re the best magic man of the world! I like your one hundred t-shots! And I think DIMASH is DIMASH! He is the best voice in the world!!!
Thank you, Svetlana.
Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy )) Thank you for your great reactions and analysis as always!
Thank you, DIMASH has almost everything have all this singers
👍
I'm surprised you didn't have any of the Brothers Gibb on there, especially Barry. All those years of high falsetto.
For the curious ones, H is used in german and scandinavian music notation instead of B for the same note. B is actually used to represent what others would call a Bb.
😊
To sing those extremely high note during a song(not just to scream them for a second)it is capable,in my opinion, only Dimash(i meen d8).And you are absolutely right,he is owning the world.Nice comment, like always!
😊
I like how you included such a variety of vocalists! Kinda ran the whole gamut there!
Great list!
I'm glad you liked it, Ask Steve!
@@kentamplin I'm a sucker for "top ten" style lists, especially when they are well thought out, properly researched, and well executed. And you tend to do that very well!
Браво на всички , браво ДИМАШ 😍😍😍
Sonia Loizou 👍
Kyo from Dir En Grey hit a belted G#7 on the studio version of "Rotting Root", and he hit a falsetto C8 on his solo project Sukekiyo's "304 goshitsu shita to yoru", he regularly hits higher live. He hit a B9 whistle during a live performance of "Ware, Yami Tote", and a belted B7 at Wacken 2011.
😊
I love that he gives a background story for every singer!!
😊
Yaaaaasss ken included as should!!!
Thanks, John!
Mariah's whistle is Bb7!!!!
👍
"I'm Ken Tamplin" at the beginning seems to be a recent addition and it's a very nice touch. I don't understand why, but it is.
Next up should be a top 20 on how many t-shirts one can wear in 9 minutes ;)
Thanks, Eric!
AGAIN, LOVE THE SHIRTS!!
👍👍👍
I am from Honduras, I do not know English but I still see your videos, greetings 👌🏼😎
Hola, Beckham!
Have you heard of Yma Sumac's voice? She was amazing! I thought she was going to be on the list.😁
👍👍👍
Thanks for including Dimash, he is the best singer for me🌹🌹
You're welcome, Adeline!
👍
I made this list: (soon a video of this list!)
Absolute Top 10 widest melodic vocal ranges (studio and live) (9 January 2020)
Top:
10, Mihai Traistariu, D2 - E7 (5 octaves and 1 semitone)
9:Rachelle Ferrell, D2 - F7 and Luís Iriel Eb3 - F#8 (5 octaves and 3 semitones both)
8, Mariah Carey Eb2-F2 - Bb7 (5 octaves and 7 semitones)
7, Piet Arion, Eb2 - B7 (5 octaves and 8 semitones)
6, Vitas, D2 - B7 and Nina Hagen A1 - F#7 (5 octaves and 9 semitones both)
5, Georgia Brown, F#2 - F8 and Yma Sumac, E2 - D8 (5 octaves and 11 semitonez)(5 octaves and 11 semitones both)
4, Mike Patton, D1 - E7 (6 octaves and one note)
3, Nicola Sedda, C1 - F7, Adam Lopez, Bb1 - Eb8 and Dimash Kudaibergen, A1 - D8 (6 octaves and 5 semitones the three)
2, Thebassmanadam, G-3 - G5 (8 octaves)
1, Dante, G1 - F#9 (8 octaves and 11 semitones)
😊
что это
Finally some love for Piet. Such a fantastic singer and his whistle notes are so clean.
👍
That’s not singing. That’s lip syncing to the sound a tea kettle makes.
Hahahahaha
Aaaaaahaaaaa, good one!!!
True.
Italian dear 4ever he said it in a sarcastic way 🤦♂️
@Italian dear 4ever I think it was a joke mate :)
Dimash can whistle higher but he values musicianship above all. also, georgia brown did not sing a G10 ,that's a hoax.
P.s. Piet Arion sung a B7 in his cover of s.o.s
ronnie B 👍
@@kentamplin thanks Ken. would like to know how to hold breath for singing long passages, thanks!
i believe Georgia Brown hit a frequency @ G10(not a musical note) the Guinness acknowledged this
You had me at Prince
👍
Like the change of shirts between songs 😁 Dimash gets my vote, because his d8 was in the middle of a song, during an actual concert.
Thanks for stopping by!
Is Phillip Bailey of Earth, Wind, and Fire on the new list. He seems a lot higher than most on his song "Reasons" and he doesn't scream. He does it with control and ease.
*Nobody *
Ken Tamplin when someone hits a high note: Imma switch my shirt
Audrey De Souza Oliveira 😆
Mariah and Dimash ❤️❤️❤️
😊
Cheers Ken - interesting - but i think it should count in a song rather than a few notes x
😊
Love the burning note t-shirt
This is absolutely amazing so glad I found this... now while some of them hit the highest ever in history it doesn't mean that sounds all that great. I'm still a huge Mariah Carey fan for the way that she smoothly transitions her voice from falsetto to alto with such ease
I think the title must have been wrong. I think the intended title was 20 most psychedelic shirts :P
Per Westermark 😁
best comment hehe sth confusingly great for the ears AND the eyes in this video
Every women is crazy about sharp clean man ! Ken, as Roxette once sang may she rest in Peace- Hes got the look ! Keep changing Ken, please these are men not one lady has said a word ♥️
I want his T's!!
Thanks for sharing that with us, Caligo!
Thanks for pointing that out, Vince!

When did she hit that? Her officially highest note is G#7
@@petercauter9691 it's a Bb7
