- A video companion piece (video taped in 2008) to my 2013 book "Lord Of Garbage" (Kicks Books, Brooklyn NY). Vinyl Culture is mentioned & my place in it is mentioned in BOTH Video & Book.
I was 68 years old in this video. 72 years old in the book when written. The book was released when I was 73 years old.
2 more books have been written. I is a 3 volume set. Check out my Medical Adventures Video "Reality?" made in 2013. • Kim Fowley - REALITY?
Kim Fowley is OUTRAGEOUS!
I shot this in 2008, drove out to Redlands and had no idea what we were getting into. I wanted to know about his records. It was amazing....!
That's pretty awesome! I've listened to his music for years but am just now starting to go through his entire catalogue. Soooooo much good stuff and even more extremely weird tunes. You were real lucky to be able to interview him...
Thank you! People don't realise he was there right from the beginning both in Hollywood and London. That he knew Keith Moon when he was in the High Numbers, or that he was Motown's first PR guy in California and got the gig by calling them up from a gas station.
These bozos who call him a creep don't know the many acts of personal kindness he did. 2nd volume of his autobiography out soon it seems, and I'm involved in another KF tribute project too, hopefully.
Nice to see Scott Goddard mentioned...another genuinely nice guy, nephew of movie star Paulette Goddard.
do you happen to know who ended up buying his collection or to whom it was bequeathed?
Kim's Outrageous LP always has and always will be one of my very favourite LP's, "oh God help us all'....
Thank you vastly for this film; it should be the ignition & ennobling of new youth movements, but that would presume today's humans could actually feel their genitals and their more sublime emotions; clearly they have neither; all that's left is a Blobocracy of sado-masochistic moralizers and their ever swelling theatrical accusations and condemnations. The mysteries of Orpheus found their way back via Laurel Canyon and whoooooshed in Kim Fowley, Jim Morrison, Jack Spicer, Wanda Coleman, Chris Burden, Gram Parsons, Pamela Des Barres, The Cockettes, Darby Crash, Tony Alva, The Denny brothers, Alice Bag and all the Bags, Charles Bukowski, Jay Adams, Jeffery Lee Pierce, The Plunger Pit girls and all the "problem children" from 1964--1982...
Love this doc. Thanks for making this. You get the feeling that he was so far into the process which is everything in the end.
"The individual only listens to the sound of his own heartbeat that's all the music he hears."
I adore this genius. Listening to his flow ov consciousness is refreshing to hear & quite inspiring. I will now go buy his book, "Lord Of Garbage". Everyone should.
How was the book?
What a great & colourful character!!! May he RIP
Kim Fowley will always be remembered for The Runaways like it or not. Even if they barely sold any records in the 70s and he was involved in so many hits
R.I.P. Kim ♥
Very interesting person indeed...Had an amazing career and saw it all
lol i listen to your song over and over again
Fascinating
St John Green is an amazing album.
Just shows as long you make money for the wrong people you can get away with being a perverted criminal in the open and the general public will still call you a "genius" in the music industry. Sick.
Still love you my crazy brother!
This is so wonderful. Why hasn't Kim done a video like this before?
Got here a little late in the day.. Anyone know what happened to Kim's collection? Hope someone is taking care of it and it didn't end up at the Goodwill. Met Kim years ago when he was at the Orange County Record show, seemed very nice. Announced he was going to sign everything with a different comment. On my photo he inscribed "Everything is for sale." How right he was.
Superbes interviews.
Well, he was certainly a "garbage" man.
the bubblegum / wildfire single ! WHOAAA ! i want it ! WHOAL FA FA FA YE
It's all about 24:38. Quite possibly the coolest fucking guy ever.
if rapists can be cool. Twat.
@@garethjohn8440 cool
@@garethjohn8440 i compartmentalize. and rape is the coolest fucking thing ever.
Amazing!
don't like the way he's tossing the records around
Great film, great guy! There will never be another Kim Fowley! R.I.P. Did someone actually buy all the records? wow, what a collection!!!
Wow he seems downright friendly here, compared to the stuff he said in the Crawdaddy 1976 Runaways cover-story I've got - that was my introduction to his wierdness, ha.
found out a couple days ago he had lots of albums out starting in the 1960's
knew he manged The Runaways
Pleasure dome as inauguration of the pleasure dome? X)
Why is everyone saying R.I.P? He was a rapist.
Both Cherry Curry & Joan Jett denied his rape accusation. He was just another victim of one of the many delusional American women.
He created so much but was broke?
He seemed to sense time"s up. Noise is what's up now
I don’t understand how people can block a rapist as long as they can entertain you
is any of his stuff still for sale?
I'm sure the collection has been spoken for since 1959
Soooooooooooooooo SICKKK !❌⭕️❌⭕️
how can I get your son of frankenstien album autographed? I love that one or even your outrageous album . Love ya Kim!
Classic rockstar!
Well. The elusive Kim Fowley. I loved TheRunaways, at the age when I was target. they were with Highway to Hell in the 'tape case'. I encountered the movie on youtube recently. I didn't know the 'real' story, but I fuckin loved the movie.
Well, god bless Utoob, quickly I found something about this fool who said jailbaitjackpot.
I watched 'last interview'.
I merely hunted you down so I could tell you what a neat person you are.
Rare, and formidable and ..lol ... almost as smart as me.
BeWell
Damn Kim...
it's a Flick disc :D - yeah St John Green very unique album
For sale??? I'm interested!
Skyliners on Calico??
Who is he?
yer grampy wearing hose on mescaline
ha! fetus icecream...
is this kim kardashian
Fascinating creature...but there's something pathetic with teethless old men on death's doorstep, overestimating their contribution to the world..He sure made some interesting work, but hardly anything to get truly worked up about...
The guy just rambled on... making things up on the spot...while the interviewer pretends she gets all those names he rattles off.
All _that vinyl_ of him sold next to nothing. You would think he should have lived like Phil Spector in some Hollywood castle ,yet it seems he had not much to show for all _'that vinyl'_ living in a desolate LA suburb. It's not for nothing he recently began to eulogise Joan Jett...being the only one of his past associates who actually (despite her association with him) made something of a profitable career for herself !
>6:08< _''Are these your children''_ which dilettante was filming this ?????? You should never ask such a question to a lonely childless old man....A genius of some sorts admittedly ofcourse....
It seems his only regret was that he had no next of kin to shed a tear for him on his death bed.
Except his wife.
kim fowley Im a big fan of your artistic philosophy .I am sorry to ask but its tough for innovators. Will you help me get an art show in a gallery?i hate street art movement(i like graffiti) and minimalism .I know that I have the true voice of rock and roll photography which is based on the vibe of the music not being some guy who hangs out and sucks up to the band.I play rock to make the photos. People dont get it when I say Im a rock and roll photographer, please check it out and if its your thing make a few phone calls thats all I need .your the best www.ricadventura.com Im going to do it with or without your help but a little push helps.
He seemed to sense time"s up. Noise is what's up now
