The L series and the R cabs were the best cabs ever built by Mack. All the rest were either junk or too small for a 6 foot 200 pound driver. BTW, the pinstriping that is on those trucks is amazing. Out here in the PAC NW, most trucks are just functional with very little "dress up."
Woah! @29:48 -- Kevin! I remember you -- you drove the F250 fuel truck around 1977 or so. I was about twelve years old and at the time, FMC had a beautiful Autocar with a 318 Detroit that used to scream 'round Sudbury. I was lucky enough to enjoy plenty of rides in that truck back then -- I wound up working for Frank as his flunky/sidekick and to me, he absolutely had a heart of gold (Jeff, Bruce, Donny, MaryAnn -- they all had hearts of gold!) -- Thanks for reminding me of those precious memories!
Hi, Mike. My first full time truck driving job was an ‘89 R model Mack tri-axle dump. 300 with a 7 speed. I loved that truck. Within 2 years I was in an ‘85 W900 tractor, 425 Cat, 13 speed, pulling a 45’ Transcraft Eagle flatbed. Bounced around running Petes, KW’s, and Western Stars pulling dump trailers, flat beds, intermodals, refers, and vans for a few years. Full time career fireman for over 16 years now. Sometimes I miss trucking and I’ll always have a place I’m my heart for the R model. Thanks for your videos, brother.
Lots and lots of Macks on this video. Real nice looking ones. I loved it and appreciate you sharing it with us. Thank you for the hard work and dedication.
@@brianburns7211 same in NY, NJ & PA back in the day! They owned the field in construction, refuse and firefighting equipment. Pretty much anywhere every dump truck, mixer, garbage truck or fire truck was a Mack! I grew up on Mack reign. I love them!
Thanks for the Memories! I’m from the Southwest, never saw so many Mack’s, must be an East and East Coast thing- great video, down home interactions, I really enjoyed it!! Drove White Freightliner and Emeryville in 1975-76; best job I ever had.
Excellent content. Starting when I was 5 in 1960 my Grandfather would take me on produce hauling adventures from Sebastopol in Northern California down into the central valley Bakersfield etc for as much watermelon as a 5 year old fart could possibly eat lol. Brand new fire engine RED, FORD COE 650 with about a 40 foot box. That was a special time...
Thanks Mike, enjoyed the trip to the past. Used to go by Red Enright's Wellesley Trucking barn In Wellesley where the truck were washed daily, year round. Red did not send a dirty truck to a job. He established the standard for trucks that looked professional, and ran reliably. This was the mid 50's and I remember a B81,. LF, B61 and a Ford 10 wheeler, all with red chassis, black body, and block striped and pinstriped. The show you videoed brought back thos great memories.
Over the course of my driving career I have driven many of the vehicles shown. I guess that makes me an antique too? Truckin" was sure different back then.
What's up Boston Trucker? That is a cool video my friend, love all that old school truck's. They don't make it like them anymore. Plain and simple that's what trucking was back in the day. Why did life get so complicated? New is nice, but old school rules. Stay safe out there my friend and keep the videos coming and always travel safely catch you on the next one.
Great video Mike, I grew up in Providence on Federal Hill I lived on a main street called Broadway in The summer I used to sit on my front steps and whenever a semi came by I would give him the arm pump and he would give the horn a blast, they were always cab overs I always wanted to ride in one but i never got a chance but I was satisfied just seeing them..Ah that was back in 1971 the good old days Love your channel Mike I look forward to your videos.
That's Great!!!...ah,that was my world ..thanks for for enjoying yourself when i was a kid that was the hub of organized crime ah ....i was a good kid but my brothers were involved it ...whata ya gonna do Great videos brother i look forward to your to your next one.
Was at the show today, spent a couple hours but wasn't able to catch up with you. Was a great show, hopefully I'll see you at another show. Keep up posting the great videos.
@@TheBostonTrucker there are a couple of old truck bone yards not too far from the fairgrounds, worth a look and maybe a video. Hopefully I can catch up with you to give you the 411.
Awesome Mack Thermodyne @ 21:54, I drove a 1988 Mack Biscayne single axle 5 speed, should have took pics of it, came to the terminal for work and she was gone!! Damn!!
I went Saturday. Didn't bring His life's R model. It blew a wheel seal coming home from the gear jammer show. And our mechanics are to slammed with work to work on it. Ill see in Waltham soon. We are starting a major project within A month.
Then we're actually some really clean good painted trucks whole lot of Mack felt like I was a little bit of heaven there I don't know why it just seems like the older trucks look niceer
The older that i get the more i love R models👍
Same here.
Can tell you're not 6'6"!

I loved your conversation with the "seasoned" truck driver! No flip flops, no shorts, etc. Bring profession back to the trucking industry!
Have seen my proud profession go down the toilet. Not many old truckers anymore. But still have the old trucks

The Powerliner was initially built with a big ol Screaming Detroit with 12 cylinders!
This one has opted to Caterpillar..wonder if it is an 8v
Ahh okay. I thought that's what it was but wasn't sure.
I've seen it before. I believe it has a KTA Cummins. At around 600 hp. Not positive though.
That oak ridge autocar you were looking at is a 66 or older. They changed the dash in 67 and up
My favorite
It was good to see ya and say hi today

Thanks Jim, I've got a feeling she's leaving us 😥
I used to see those grand Mac's in NYNY as gravel, trash, salt, snow plow, etc. My opinion the prettiest trucks ever.

@bostontrucker, hey I think you have someone trying to scam your subs. Look at the comments.
Seeing those big cab protectors, a real throwback to cable shovels doing the loading.

Sorry can't connect to Telegram in the UK for some reason.
Can’t believe I missed this show I’m pissed thanks for showing us,how do u get a Boston trucker hat
i liked this one:) have you given the white 9k any thought
I wonder how the knees of Cab Over drivers were after a few years behind the wheel of those rigs. Nice vehicles.
I drove them for a few years, the leg room is pretty adequate, you just can't kick your right leg out because you're up against the doghouse.
Notice more Mack's in New England than down South. I'm a retired Teamster from Local 251 and most of my 28 years I drove a Mack.
I went Saturday. Didn't bring His life's R model. It blew a wheel seal coming home from the gear jammer show. And our mechanics are to slammed with work to work on it. Ill see in Waltham soon. We are starting a major project within A month.
10-4 Erik, I'll see you on the road.
Looks like it was a great show.
I thought I was your #1 fan ?!?
You going to the Big Apple truck show? In October
I'm planning on it.

That overnite was a beaut
I think Brockway was the first to have a tilted wheel all the 300 series that I drove did
Thats FLC would be early 70. My 73 shaker has the same dash
2:48 Wards- I see the truck all the time down the street from my parents house
👍👍
Nice to see the trailer and few trucks that we detailed past few weeks
You guys should have took the Autocar!!
Nice old trucks but Antique? Most of those are still in service somewhere.
Way nice
sad thing is all the guys that are missing
I couldn't meet you
Nice daily drivers
GILLY LOPES 1ST.class guy
Mack FS 700L endt 673 250 hp
Man you can always tell those 1693s sound like they got marbles in there head 😅
The only thing more annoying than a dog barkin or a broad crying is a baby crying someone stuff a sock in its mouth
That R D 800 lowbed is unbelievable
Nothing like a 500 mack in a superliner with a 12 speed animal of a truck triple frame sick truck sounds awesome on the Jake
Really cool trucks Boston trucker but your gonna get your self in trouble one day putting your hands on someone else's property
where is the show at now? i used to go when it was in hudson
Bolton Fairgrounds
