It is a mountain area so roads are gone. People have no way to enter or leave areas that still have a home. It has been and is horrible. They still do not know how many are dead. Piles of debris big as ball fields and they don’t know how many bodies under the debris. 90% of the help has been charities and individuals.

Sad, but funding for the fire department was an issue in the last major city election. The people who voted, did not vote for the candidate who was pro-LAFD. We voted for whoever who was more likely to do something about the homeless camping in neighborhoods which besides the usual issues were setting fires. Infrastructure was not on ballots, not a sexy or newsworthy problem, yet it impacted the ability to fight this fire. Rather than point fingers, we all need to remember the things we chose not to vote for or raise awareness about so that when we have another disaster we can do better to support the LAFD and the people of our community.

The reservoirs do not have water, fire hydrants dry - all of these problems are criminal. The point of having a Mayor, a Governor, or a Senator - is to protect every citizen, to provide services, and to ensure they are delivered without budget constraints. Its horrific for Californians to be dealing with this situation and I hope they hold the Mayor, Governor and Senator, and legislators responsible; they should be charged with criminal neglect as a minimum for dereliction of duty.This is political, anyway you look at it. If California was not a sanctuary state, imagine all the funds that have been used to not only house illegals, but to pay for medical and school expenses, those debit cards that give them food every month. It is a mountain area so roads are gone. People have no way to enter or leave areas that still have a home. It has been and is horrible. They still do not know how many are dead. Piles of debris big as ball fields and they don’t know how many bodies under the debris. 90% of the help has been charities and individuals.

Agree, there's products out there to add concrete roofs such as Insuldeck, making the entire structure masonry. Add window and doors where they are made from steel, then add additional cover such as metal shutters - should help protect for all scenarios to a certain degree.

Sad, but funding for the fire department was an issue in the last major city election. The people who voted, did not vote for the candidate who was pro-LAFD. We voted for whoever who was more likely to do something about the homeless camping in neighborhoods which besides the usual issues were setting fires. Infrastructure was not on ballots, not a sexy or newsworthy problem, yet it impacted the ability to fight this fire. Rather than point fingers, we all need to remember the things we chose not to vote for or raise awareness about so that when we have another disaster we can do better to support the LAFD and the people of our community.

I Feel terrible for Chief Crowley, having her hands tied with budget cuts, not only unable to have enough manpower for day-to-day operations, but also funding for operations. The reservoirs do not have water, fire hydrants dry - all of these problems are criminal. The point of having a Mayor, a Governor, or a Senator - is to protect every citizen, to provide services, and to ensure they are delivered without budget constraints. Its horrific for Californians to be dealing with this situation and I hope they hold the Mayor, Governor and Senator, and legislators responsible; they should be charged with criminal neglect as a minimum for dereliction of duty.This is political, anyway you look at it. If California was not a sanctuary state, imagine all the funds that have been used to not only house illegals, but to pay for medical and school expenses, those debit cards that give them food every month. The gender equality programs all paid from taxpayer funds. I cannot fathom the lives lost, the homes that were under insured or did not have any, the beloved pets and wildlife that were killed and all the people having to figure out where to live after being displaced. Californians should be furious.
