    Take that wrist strap on your zip cases, attach it to the zippers (up to three at a time). You can unzip the whole case in one go. Alternatively, or if you need more than one pull on a big case, look for a keychain holder or anything with a clip and something to grab (you can also make your own with cord or ribbon).

    • @RachelHendersonColouring

      Thank you, I did try to make one with a ribbon and I was worried it was straining the zips a bit. I think I may try the keychain idea though!

    Just as a hint, if the lead starts coming out of the pencil, try putting it in the warm, such as on top of the car dashboard, leaving it to get warm, it worked well for me.

    you’re absolutely right about prismas and their range of color, i like them but i can’t love them. I’ve always wanted polychromos but in my country they’re the opposite of affordable, they’re about 5 times the price of prismas 120 set. And aprox the double of the price i see in the uk amazon link. Not for me haha

    I've had so many sets and rehomed most of them. My favorites (keep in mind I color over alcohol markers or watercolor pencil most of the time depending on the book) Are Polychromos and Chromaflow. I mix my polychromos with my brutfuner macarons and will probably replace those with Holbien as they wear down.. literally resorted the entire thing into one big set in color family order, and it made all the difference in how much I enjoy them and reach for them. I adore the chromaflow, I just wish there were 150 of them. They are right in-between polys and prisma with the thin core of a verithin but soft. I found the Goldfabers are very similar to the chromaflow and have some different colors.. not quite as good (a bit harder and not quite as vibrant) but close enough to add in some bonus colors with the same thin core.. especially the faber greens which are lovely, a lighter purple, and a midtone grey that is missing and annoys me. I'm currently debating whether to pick up the full set. I do love my Prismas but I color with them differently.. adding color down in the darkest areas and then spreading it over the white paper with the blender. Nothing else can do that and is a very fast way to color, this is my primary pencil for J. Bassford books. I add a Prisma white to every pencil set I own. I also own Arteza expert, Stadtler Design Journey, and Lyra and enjoy them but only reach for them occasionally for a change of pace since I get bored using the same thing all the time, they are all harder on my hands (the Arteza are soft but I find I'm just not happy with the finish unless I take a blender to it, and that's a whole other layer of work). I have Arrtx (not a fan, hard, weird color selection, probably going to go to a new home soon) and Markart (the closest thing I've ever found to Polychromos, lovely unique colors...but not open stock so I tend to ignore them and just grab my Polys). The rest of my collection is mostly watercolor pencils.. museum aquarelle (lovely, not enough colors, not sure they are worth the money), albrecht durer (way more colors and by far the best for value for money IMO), Kohinoor mondeluz (great for the price especially if you buy the cardboard box version). Inktense which are their own thing and are great but I hate the color selection.. they really need more variety and more natural shades... I like them for my Kirby books especially just on their own. I have a small collection each of Luminance, Lightfast, Pablo, Coloursoft, Procolor, and Supracolor.. I don't like any of them enough to buy more. I keep pulling them out, coloring with them, and putting them back in storage lol. My alcohol markers are the two Ohuhu pastel sets combined with their midtone set.. and it's fabulous for basing.. perfect colors. Everything else is acrylic pens, gel pens, fineliners, etc. I keep going back and forth on buying the Derwent watercolor pencils... if I find them on sale this holiday season I may pick them up. They are soft to lay down and a different color palette to the others.

    What I do with my Derwent pencils is combine them as needed. I have most of the Derwent line so there are many colors to choose from. As far as I’m concerned with the lightfast, is that there should be a set of a 100-150 in order to create more color choices. The only thing I can find fault with as far as the Lightfast goes, is the lack of colors. I would love a large set of Lightfast pencils.

    I love your pencil collection. It's funny to hear you say that you wouldn't recommend the first two Staedtler. They are my favourites. I get the best results with the Noris colour and with the Design Journey. Must be something to do with my techniques? I'm not sure. I am curious about getting another set of Pencils to try and have seen lots of collection videos, but most of the vidoes have just been people with a large collection and nothing used, and that dosent realt for me make me want to Get them 😂😂😂 I have my set with faber castell polychromos (started buying only a few Colors but now im only missing a few, so could probably just have gotten the set ratheer than open Stock😂). Im so happy you mentiond the metallics so a can rather Get the other ones. But a question when knowing what a already have is There a set you would recomend with a litle different colors? And maybe a pastell set?

      I am glad it was helpful. Prismacolor has some good pastel shades and different colours to polychromos and you can buy them open stock. They are very soft compared to polychromos though so take some getting used to. I have only tried a couple of pastel sets and unless you want to pay a fortune for Holbeins then I would recommend the Kores pastels if you can find them or the Castle Arts. The Castel Arts regular pencils are pretty good too if you like purple shades and want something that is ore in a budget range.

I love vibrant colors, need a nice range of browns (not red brown, real browns) and dark colors. Thanks.

      I would get polychromos. Buy the biggest set you can afford with the money (not sure how much they are) and then if you have any money left buy a few open stock in your favourite colours. I have a swatch chart where you can take a look at the colour selection here - ko-fi.com/s/dfd58540c6

    Hi Rachel. I really appreciated you showing your pencil collection with min reviews. I have several of the same pencils and it was fun and interesting to mentally compare notes with my own opinions. I am from thecUS in hidalgo IL, but I definitely hear you on the expense of Derwent products even though you would have to worry about import duties; that would annoy me too! I am on the fence with the Chromaflow but I already have Primsacokor. Chromaflow might be a good companion to Prisma since they are a little harder, right? Thanks again! Rita

    I don’t recognize those brown orange pencils. Did Derwent change their pencils somewhere along the line?

      I don't think so, I think you are referring to the Derwent Drawing pencils, they are still available to buy.

    Hi Rachel, I’m trying to buy castle arts soft touch pencils through your link but it’s not deducting the 20%. Any ideas?

      I think it might be a one use only code so if you have used it before then it may not work again

    Love this video! I’m considering buying Pablo’s. I have Polys, Prismas, etc. Polychromos are probably
    my favorite. Not sure if I should spend the money for Pablo’s. Do you think they are worth the price? Are there certain books/paper that they work best for you? Thank you!!!

    • @RachelHendersonColouring
      @RachelHendersonColouring  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you. The pablos have some unique colours that the others do not. I am not sure of the price as I was lucky enough to be gifted them, so am therefore not sure about value for money.

    Thanks for this useful video! My absolute favourite pencil is the pablos from Caran d Ache, they just blend like a breeze for me. I own prismas but I regret buying them, they are too soft and messy for me and they keep breaking, so they are catching dust right now. I also have some polychromos but I don't reach for them because I do not like their feel and I don't enjoy the layering process they take. Does anybody know if there are other pencils out there that act like pablos and blend just as well? I looked into Arteza expert but the opinions differ a lot on these, and I am also drawn to the Black Widow pencils, I think they have a great color range, but here again, the opinions differ a lot....I would love to add some more color choices to my pablos. Anybody have any advice for me please? Lots of love to all of you here!

    So many sets with so many rubbish yellows, how many people actually use these yellows 🙄. I really like the brutfuner metallics too, the pastel set is good too.

    • @RachelHendersonColouring
      @RachelHendersonColouring  10 месяцев назад +2

      Lol, that is a great question! Depends on what am colouring, whether I need a hard or soft pencil, what colours I feel like using and sometimes I just pick a set because I have not used it for long time!

    Where I live or lived Prismacolor is 1,5x the price of policromos. Not worth.

      I think it all depends on import duty and postage.

      Where do you live? Here in Australia we have Officeworks as well as 2 actual art shops ( geelong area) and you can get the prismas as open stock in all of them, $3.32 approximate price each. I'm just building my set up, I have full set of polychromos bought gradually over years!

      @@heatherhoward2513 I think you may not have been addressing me but here in the UK we can only buy prismacolors online, shops do not stock them
