It is about the British tabloid press guessing that something is wrong with Freddie and that Brian in 1988 divorced his wife and dated Anita Dobson (they married in 2000 and are together still) a famous actress.. The press was following Brian's and Freddie's every step and making stories ... 😮

  • @JaneRtn
    @JaneRtn 6 дней назад +5

It was recorded late 80’s - the reason for younger sounding voice is often attributed to the fact that Freddie stopped/drastically reduced smoking after 1987 and his voice became clearer akin to his earlier years.

Really love your reactions to Freddie and Queen. I'm sure some people who watch your reactions are also new to their music.. Thank you for keeping their music alive and introducing them to others who've never heard of them. Queen forever.

Fun fact about this song, Freddie's vocals and Brian's lead Guitar work were done in one take and used for the release. So professional.

It was near the end of his life, there was speculation about his illness and Brian's marriage breaking up. One that you really need to do is "It's Late" lyric video is best but terrific song. You will not be disappointed.

One of Queen's underrated songs. It was written by Brian May. The press people did not treat the Queen Band well especially Freddie. IMO, the press that kept speculating about his illness at that time only added to Freddie's stress. following his every move. But Freddie is smart, he chose to remain silent for the betterment of his brothers in the band and his family. He only announced about the illness the day before he died (if I'm not mistaken). What can we expect from the Paparazzi but to make or write things about famous people to make money. This is still happening in our society. The Queen members have not been arrested in any case so the press prefers to talk about the private lives of the 4 talented musicians especially Freddie. It's sad but that's the reality of life. Thank you Prada for your great reaction. Stay safe!🙂👑

From the album The Miracle in 1989. This was two years before Freddie's death😢He had grown a beard to hide the Kaposi Sarcoma tumours on his face. The rest of the band, his personal assistant Peter "Phoebe" Freestone, and Mary Austin knew of his diagnosis. I personally love his beard - but not the reason he grew it.

The voice became clearer as he had given up smoking. He was told he would gain more time although the others were told that he wouldn't make Christmas,so they went all out to do whatever he wanted.
Freddie kept quiet because it was a different time then ,those who had Aids it was a death sentence then and those suffering were treated like criminals. I had a friend who worked with me as a social worker, and was sacked and abandoned by his family when he was diagnosed. There was only me with him when he died,I climbed into bed with him and held him till he passed.
Freddie was eventually driven out of the country to Montrouxs
( I don't think that's the right spelling ). The press were putting cameras through his toilet window and about 100 of the surrounding the house it was a different time.
This then Headlong are the last videos that you will see him with the traditional mic, after this time he was not strong enough to hold it,after this there was none or very little moving around. Freddie had lost half of his right foot and standing became very painful. The the next few videos he had to wear 3 layers of clothes to keep warm and hide how much body mass he had lost.
You should look at slightly mad video. No one could explain how Freddie did that, it was a song Freddie wrote about the effects of Aids and the medication he was on,they made him sleepy, confused and generally feeling he had lost control of his life. The song is a humours way of explaining what was going on for him. It took a while to film as Freddie could only work for a couple of hours then needed to sleep and "bedroom" was made up for him at the studio. Both Brian and Roger said Freddie never complained or wanted special treatment he just wanted to make music till he could not physically do any more, which was exactly what he did, sorry for the ramblings.
Prada, have you been talking with me on Instagram? I'm concerned he might be someone pretending to be you? Let me know xx

Your friend was blessed to have a compassionate friend in you. Yes, it was a different time and so many were left to alone and afraid. I didn't know anyone directly affected but I (probably all of us) knew Freddie was ill and despise the press for their disgusting treatment of him.

Hey,Prada! Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your reactions. I’m a 62 old retired guy who has a lot of respect for you for opening up your mind to all of the various genres of music. I happen to be a big Queen fan so, I’ve really enjoyed you jumping on the Queen train recently. I try to do the same and have to say that your music is really incredible. I’ve listened to several of your songs and you are an amazing talent. Thanks for doing what you do and keep up the good work!

This album was released in 1989 at a time when Brian and Roger had both split from their first wives and had been all over the papers and Freddie's ex-assistant Paul Prenter had sold sordid tales about Freddie to the press. There was speculation as well about Freddie's health but he told no one except the band and select friends about his HIV status. His parents were strict Zoroastrians and he never told them of his illness. You should check out the video to The Miracle. It's one of Freddie's best songs and one of their best videos. Also Breakthru which features Roger's new girlfriend Debbie Leng another great video shot on a steam train!

This song is about when there were 200 paparazzi’s surrounding his house, day and night, and making complete false Allegations of him for year's.
Roger was Furious and tried To run one of the paparazz over with his car and missed. They had to leave and go to their studio they owned in Montreux Switzerland And that's where they Recorded the album

‘Scandal’ was written by guitarist Brian May about the British press, in the wake of media-fuelled controversy about his recent divorce, his relationship with Anita Dobson, and Freddiey’s rare public appearances due to his battle with AIDS. Brian played keyboards and did the guitar solo as a first take. Mercury’s lead vocals were also a first take.
“I have kept the first take, as Freddie did for the vocals. In one evening, the song was finished, because we couldn’t do a better take.”
    Brian May - 1989

Hey, great reaction - as always! Please react to "The Show Must Go On" One of the greatest tracks! Here is some history about it:
Brian May tells what happened the day Freddie recorded 'The show must go on':
"He was very ill, in pain, could barely walk...I said to him: Fred, i don't know if you'll be able to sing. Here are notes too high, you are very weak.
He looked at me and said seraphically:
    'I will dear!'
And so he downed a glass of vodka, went into the studio and sang at very high notes.....and i was in shock."

The sick was not announced to the public till the day before, close friends knew this included the band who drew the wagons around lied through their teeth to protect their brother. All Freddie wanted to do was make music till he could no longer sing which he did. The band gave him love and support till the very end they wrote so beautiful songs about Freddie after, later with those. He didn't want to be a poster boy for Aids ,he was an artist that was all that he needed anyone to know x

Definitely want to listen to Death on Two Legs - the ultimate diss song from Freddie to his previous mgmt (trident) . You may have noticed Freddie showing his bum to the audience at some point in all live performances - this was literally him saying “you can kiss my a$$ goodbye “ and all the money they missed out on 😂

It’s great to watch Queen perform live but to truly appreciate Freddie’s incredible range then studio recordings allow his voice to soar. Freddie’s highest notes really happen when his voice is fresh and not singing song after song in a row. If you want to hear Freddie’s very last song then listen to the official video for “Mother Love”. Freddie’s voice was absolutely beautiful but his body was being ravaged by disease. He was too tired to complete the last verse and said he would finish it later. Unfortunately there was no later and after Freddie passed away the last verse was sang by Brian.

Queen was not scandalous, they were quite ordinary guys comparing to some other bands, none oftth them was arrested, none of them was sent to rehab, so the tabloids were creating scandalous stories about the band, from time to time.
Freddie stopped his medication 2 weeks prior to his death, and then he was living on some pain killers only, he was an extremely strong person, but enough was enough to him at that point.

i think he was very ill when they made that and his voice was a little thinner. Still brilliant. Brians love affair with Anita was written into the song he wrote called Too Much Love will Kill You. Its a wonderful song which i think most people can relate to. As far as the Aids, he published he had it the day before he died, mainly so that he could postumasly help the aids cause and Queen set up an Aids charity which is still going today.

Actually yeah I’ve never heard this song but it’s a really good song and again you know they know how to turn out song even if it’s a real song no on a real event they know how to do it.
