I like Daria b/c of a interview/documentary that was done on her a few years back that's out on youtube, even watched her play at the US Open in a fairly listless loss, what a difference a year makes, she's fired up. one of those I've always figured for nice try players. Welp, she's punched through to the semis of a GS no less. I'll be darned.

So happy for Kasatkina. I love players like this... quiet, understated, patient. Same can be said for Iga and Leylah...Don't need to be flashy or scream or have antics or try to be a celebrity. They just focus on the game and how to improve step by step. Congrats Dasha! Well deserved.

Leylah is flashy and screams .. watch her match against Bencic or Anisimova...she also complained about Radacanu taking timeout in USO final even though she could see Emma was bleeding. Later she said Emma was very lucky to get that injury and break at the right time. The imp was getting her ass whooped but behaved as if she had a match point and Emma got lucky. She has the face of a 12 year old, so looks like an innocent little girl. But must say, she has an interesting game.

Kasatkina averaged 34 mph on her 2nd serve. That's insane. She has a lovely, all-court game, but that serve is horrible. Even Dementieva & Kournikova had better serves.... In the men's side, you'd never get past the 1st round of any tournament if you served less than 70 mph on your 2nd serve, and even then, a 70 mph second serve would be a huge liability.

Could surprise a lot of us but i think she stand a good chance beating Iga ...She must not rally too long ( 3 or 4 shots rallies maximum ) Must anticipate, predict and intercept at early stage of Iga's powerful grounstrokes and counter it with powerful ground strokes as well, aim to her forehand side not to the backhand where she is expecting it..Do not make too much imagination in your shots..Make it simple as possible..Once Daria gets to Iga's head, things could change quiickly..I believe this an important piece of information for Daria,..if you plan to play tactically sound tennis you must reallize that you lack perfect timing and coordination and consequently , need to establish a conservative aim point well inside the lines if you want to be consistent and succesful..Your primary consideration in shot selection is attempt only those you know you can make..The second is where your opponent is..
Daria we believe in you , you are a great individual and i wish you the best in your next outing.. Good luck and try your best..

Kasatkina used to play with more variety but now it's mainly highly looping ground strokes to throw her opponents off, which makes for a very boring match. У Кудерметовой могло бы быть такое, если бы она не взяла тот медицинский тайм-аут. Потеряв импульс, который она создала, прервав подачу, чтобы остаться в матче, когда Касаткина вела 5-4.

@@Draconas That's because in the women's game, serve isn't everything. Unlike in ATP, where the top 20 is filled up with extremely tall guys who serve at 230km/h, but can't play tennis otherwise. Unsurprising that 3 broken men in their late 30's or even 40's, with more injuries than Napoleon's horse, are still dominating the game after 20 years.
