    No wonder we have been getting our A-- kicked. Holy crap, Hurlie Brown was the only man in the room who seemed to understand what UM should be going after.

    Hurlie the only cat who kept it 100

    If you're 4.8 you better be instinctive in order to get to the ball on time. It's crazy to think that a program with Sean Taylor and Ed Reed would settle for a 4.8 guy at safety.

    • @zabrainadams7304
      @zabrainadams7304 9 лет назад +3

      sean Taylor was 4:43 guy and had the speed to hawk people down from behind or probably a half angle ed reed was a 4:48

    I have respect for Larry Scott, Kevin Beard, and Ice Harris. Wish they were kept but that's the business side. I'm glad they cleaned house. That's what's needed to start fresh

  • @duncansmith1119

    The fact No D wanted to offer a safety who runs a 4.7 is all you need to know about that guy lol

  • @TOBrienUSA
    @TOBrienUSA 8 лет назад +16

    Paul Williams is UM's DB's coach and says ABSOLUTELY nothing. Hurlie Brown is a UM legend and looks like he's asking himself "WTF am I doing here". This just looks like a staff that's not on the same page led by a guy who knows nothing about the history, scheme, DNA and type of player UM normally recruits. Defensively, UM played at the worst level we have seen since the late 70's and this is an indication as to why. Mark D'Onofrio was a Golden Boy and had no business coaching any element of this team.

  • @jasonth13
    @jasonth13 7 лет назад +5

    The arrogance from someone who sucks as badly at his job as D'Onofrio is really striking. Good luck, Houston. You're gonna need it.

    Out of all the people in that room, who played safety at the University of Miami????? That's who I'm listening to. Matter fact why is he not the db coach? not a peep out of paul williams during the debate/discussion.

  • @Plzwork4

    The kid they were evaluating was Colby Reeder from Delaware. Watch his film and then re-watch this video. I hate you Mark Do'Nofrio...then pack all your shit.

  • @Evocati2008

    Who are they talking about? Cedric Wright maybe? And Sean Taylor ran in the 4.5 range & was a RB in high school.

    4.8 Safety should not be at Miami

  • @funguy7979

    Coach NoDick is actually making a lot of sense for the first time in 5years. It's funny to me how he continues to turn around and face PWilliams right in the face and try to bring him into the conversation and PW continues to sit back and do nothing but hold up a notepad. What the fuck is going on here????

  • @funguy7979
    @funguy7979 9 лет назад +2

    What I'm noticing the most here is Paul Williams, our DB coach, literally is sitting there like he's in "time-out". He doesn't say anything and has no opinion. What does that say about our secondary if the coach doesn't speak or have an opinion? WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE?!?!?!?!

  • @JohnDoe-dp1if
    @JohnDoe-dp1if 8 лет назад +19

    Thank God "Coach" D is gone. This video is absolutely disgusting.

  • @JohnDoe-dp1if
    @JohnDoe-dp1if 8 лет назад +24

    You guys should take this video down. It's an embarrassment to the University that you actually employed these people and put them in charge of your football program. It makes the athletic department look like a clown show.

      That's exactly the point of this video. It's public relations. UM releases a video that makes one of its most criticized employees look like a quality coach. See through the smoke, guys.

      Sam Jacobs Or it could be that D'Onofrio isn't the moron the typical fan wants to believe. Those who understand football understand that it's not black and white. I think D'Onofrio would be a very good linebackers coach, but he lacks the ability to successfully formulate, and implement defensive gameplans. Calling defensive sets is an art, it requires an innate understanding of what your talent can do, and what the opposition can do. A classic example would be Dave Wannstedt. Dave is one of the best defensive coordinators in recent memory, but he is one of the worst head coaches ever. Did he magically forget how to coach once he got promoted? No, his talent is calling defenses, preparing defensive units, and going from there. I like that D'Onofrio in this clip doesn't fall in love with the measurables, and understands that you do need football players, not just athletes, but I like Hurlie Brown even more. Hurlie is asking the questions that only a former 'Cane would ask, and that's the difference between pretty good teams, and elite teams. Can this guy be an ELITE player, not just a good player? Can this guy be the kind of guy that breaks games open? That said,you need a mix of those players, the nasty football player, and the gamebreaker. No elite team is full of gamebreakers, and no elite team has only good football players. It's on Golden to find the right mix.

    Please make Hurley our head coach!!! Just from watching this I can tell the entire staff is OK with mediocre players! Just what Hurley said, he might be good, but is he Miami good!! Noo!!!

    • @callmetrip

      Brandon Bailey So true. Its really disappointing to watch this guy talk himself into how this mediocre kid is "good enough".

    • @ChocDelight12
      @ChocDelight12 9 лет назад +1

      Brandon Bailey Idk what video yall talking about. There was nothing mediocre about the player they were describing.

    • @swagsick6808
      @swagsick6808 9 лет назад +3

      ChocDelight12 they were saying he wasn't fast, he's not showing burst, his footwork wasn't the greatest. All things that can be coached, but you look for a kid that already has that. Why buy a car that needs work when the one that has everything you want is right next door??

    • @westfinest20
      @westfinest20 9 лет назад +1

      That said he could be an elite saftey. Only one coach said he didn't have the burst but Ice clearly says he likes his foot work. They compared him to joquan Johnson & dion bush. That's not mediocre. I think they were comparing him to playing cb & saftey at the college level.

    • @ChocDelight12
      @ChocDelight12 9 лет назад +1

      westfinest20 Thank you, apparently me and you watched the same video. Just because a guy doesn't have blazing speed or hit power doesn't mean he is mediocre.

    The way Miami has been playing the last decade they should be watching film of coaches at work instead of making a film. This is how you build a perennial 6-6 team. How is the head coach not a part of this discussion? I hope Al stays in Miami forever!

    It is apparent that most of the people commenting on this thread don't know ish about football. It is not about how fast a player is in the 40 yard dash. Football speed and track speed are two different things. A kid that "knows" football and "understands" football is better for a team than a guy that runs a 4.4 forty.

    • @Ricaneswag
      @Ricaneswag 4 года назад

    As "disgusting" this may sound...... This is a typical collegiate meeting. This is how college coaches evaluate players. Although I do disagree with Safety being the hardest position on Defense. That goes to a Nickel Corner.

    • @JohnDoe-dp1if
      @JohnDoe-dp1if 8 лет назад +5

      Yes, it's typical in that it's college coaches sitting around, watching film, and discussing whether or not to offer a recruit. What's not typical is a school, located in the most talent based area in America, having only ONE coach step up and say, "Yeah, this guy doesn't have the physical talent to play here," and the rest of the coaches saying, "Who cares about physical talent??? Who cares what 40 he runs." Nick Saban once coached LB's at Kent State. I promise you Nick Saban has never turned to a coach during these meetings and said, "Who's the best LB we ever had at Kent State? This guy is just as athletic as that Kent State LB, lets offer him!!!" And any coach who claimed that Saban should offer a kid that ended up signing with Delaware, would be fired on the spot.
