Used to go to the Tree on Peachtree and see him play. Then Cafe Erehwon on 5th street in Atlanta....he was wonderful and his bongo player too. Heard he moved to Cashiers, N.C. Those were the days.
I don't know if anyone realizes what a fantastic piece of work this song is. The repetition of the groove is very difficult to maintain for over 9 minutes, not to mention the very neat vocalizations. They are mixed in at various points in between the melancholy lead vocal which is beautiful and acrobatic at times. There is some scatting which is very cool, and what one might think are flute interludes are not, he is in fact doing that with his voice. And there is a section where he is tongue-clicking while vocalizing a melody at the same time, while also keeping the hypnotic guitar groove going at the same time. This is extremely difficult and extraordinary. Put that all together with some lyrics that can get to you and you have a pretty great piece of genius. If you let it this song can get inside and haunt you, in the way that only truly great songs can.
Never tire of this man's great talent. He can do incredible things with his voice and his little guitar. Always loved his Barry White and other comical renditions. So very talented.
Wow, we used to love going to Cafe Erewhon down near GA tech back in the 70's. Heard him a few years back up in Highlands, NC. He was as great as ever. So great to hear one of our favorites again!
I can remember going to Cafe' Erehwon and eating the grilled shark and listening to great easy listening music. I remember taking about eight people there one Saturday night it was standing room only. Cy is extremely talented.
Cafe Erewhon was a wonderful mystical place sparkling with stars and the incredible talent of Cy Timmons. Loved the shark steak, champagne and great tunes.
What a great memory---I was looking for Cy to tell a friend about Cafe Erewhon and his commercial for Eastern Air Lines---what a great musician and artist. This music will last forever.
Wonderful memories from Café Erewhon Same show every night, but we never got tired of the music and jokes. Never knew what celebrity would be there enjoying the same.
I first saw Cy at The Tree on Peachtree in the 70"s. His music was something you could not explain, it had to be experienced. I had his original album that came in a cover shaped like a back pocket from a pair of blue jeans and was actually made of blue jean material. My favorite date place for years until he opened his own place Cafe Erewhon off Spring Street on 3rd St.
I remember the wonderful performances with Cy Timmons in Los Angeles back in the 70's. He and my sister Didi were great friends and often performed together. Gotta dig out the Erehwon album.
Used to go to see Cy Timmons at Erewhon as a h.s. senior in Decatur with Emily Saliers (Indigo Girls) We were both BIG fans.. "Gerbil on my shoulder..makes me nervous"..to "Sunshine on my shoulder..."
Does anyone know where I can find any of his music, a cd or digital download? I actually saw him playing at a piano bar in highlands, nc that he frequents back in December 2014. Still plays awesome music.
Beautiful. Elegant, Brazilian tinged melody and rhythm.
How could such a performer not have a more successful career?

A gem 💎
I saw him at a Christmas concert in Atlanta, over 30 years ago. I have been a fan since.
This is really a nice find.
I wanted this to never end..

Yes, music is SO much better now that we have The Voice to spoon feed us mediocrity.
