  • The Atlanta Braves were unable to keep the Philadelphia Phillies in check when they needed to in an 8-6 loss at Truist Park on Friday.
    Grant McAuley and Jake Mastroianni of LockedOn Braves break down the tough start for Max Fried, who surrendered a pair of two-run homers to Trea Turner, some uncharacteristically poor defense that ultimately put the game out of reach in the seventh, a few encouraging signs of life offensively, and preview Saturday's Game 2 matchup.

    Jake you said this game could've been different if a few things were different? First of all, that's the case for every single game ever. Second, the Phillies HAD 15 HITS!!! You're right, the Braves also could've lost by 10! I think this team has broke your brain, bud.

    Unfortunately you saw a struggling/average team again tonight. A team that can’t pitch well when they hit, or hit when they pitch. Errors in crucial situations, bad baserunning etc etc. a change is needed. Where/how? Your guess is as good as mine..

    at the end of the day the braves gave the phillies the first game with the errors and Max was just off all night so leaving him in to face turner again was a mistake on snit. Game 2 looked sharp we'll see how we look in game 3 with Lopez on the mound

    I blame Alex Anthopoulos for the Braves unraveling this year. He could have bolstered his pitching staff by acquiring Seth Lugo at a reasonable rate. Lugo is having a fine year for the Royals.. Why didn't he get Teoscar Hernandez at a reasonable rate? Now he is hitting for the Dodgers and his home runs could have made the difference for the Braves. With some of Brian Snitker's questionable moves, he should be called Brian Snicker.. Alex's ' failures as a GM centers around rushing heralded playersahead of time and not giving them time to develop in the lower leagues. Forest Wall and Luke Williams will never be the answer in left field. They are career minor leaguers and that is the truth. Zach Short is an offensive iiability regardless of his defensive prowess. And Adam Duvall needs to be replaced. His best days are long since past. Alex Anthopouloscannot continue to cut and paste with a thin farm system. He has to have the guts to spendn for necessary quality. and sign Max Fried to a long term deal. He cannot afford to be stingy when the quality of a great Braves team may be compromised. Yes, this is an injury prone season and that does happen, but those holes have not been plugged satisfactorily in any way.

    • @MassBoost
      @MassBoost 5 дней назад

      You must not know the pitching staff is 3rd in ERA, and 2nd in FIP and xFIP? Also Adam Duvall was a better hitter than Teoscar Hernandez last year, so you even mentioning that is an afterthought. Funny you talk about Anthopoulos about stingy when the Braves have one of the highest salaries in baseball.

    • @brucesimon7085
      @brucesimon7085 4 дня назад

      @@MassBoost Fine, so let me ask you something? Don't you think it would be prudent to offer Max Fried an extension? otherwise he could be wearing Dodger blue next season. Spencer Strider will be back next season and so will Ronald. Spencer Scwellenbach could be th e . I admit that is a surprise. But trading for a proven outfielder in left would provide extra offense. And who is going to replace harle Morton next season? Could it be AJ or Huston Waldrop? I would still maybe trade for another proven starter. Maybe Garrett Croche from the White Sox could be the answer.The Dodgers are still spending and if th eBraves still want to be competitive, they have to have th ecourage to spend more.

    • @MassBoost
      @MassBoost 4 дня назад

      @@brucesimon7085 Max Fried could do a lot of things, but what he's doing next year has nothing to do with this year. Schwellenbach has been solid this year, and looked good last night against a very good offense, and considering he has a 3.57 FIP and 3.62 xFIP which is far greater than his ERA, there's probably a good chance he could become a good pitcher, especially with is arsenal. So who are the Dodger still spending on?

    • @brucesimon7085
      @brucesimon7085 5 дней назад

      I sort of agree. The braves just could not surmount major injuries and Alex Anthopoulos did not have th eoff season foresight to make better trades and offer workable free agent deals. We could have had Teoscar hHrnandez or Seth Lugo, but Alex let those players get away. He is not as savvy a GM as everybody thinks and Brian Snitker has made disastrous decisions in the ecourse of a game.

    Phillies will likely win the division this year if the Braves cannot get it together. We need an infusion of good players at the trade deadline to maybe give us a spark. Another arm for sure, another OF for sure and some will argue another SS but the price tag for all that may be too high. We will see but this is just not a very good baseball team right now. Incoming sweep by the Phillies this weekend. 47-41 by the end of it. Can book it. These Braves don’t have it this year. Can’t score when the pitching usually holds, can’t pitch when hitting finally gets them scoring some. Errors plenty. Zero RISP scoring. Most barreled outs. Even small win streaks get shut down by more upcoming ineptitude. Just miles and miles of continuous of misery. The most disappointing team in MLB.
