"Time for that NA pension plan" - that is a reference to when a European or a Korean player are not good enough to play in their region, so they go to North America to play just for the money. The best punchline in the whole thing in my opinion.

The 4 people Rapping are all Casters in the LEC( League of Legends European Championship).
The Boi In white is Vedius he's rapping on behalf of Fnatic ( one of the top teams in the LEC)
The man in the Beanie and Black Jacket is Drakos, he wrote most of this Rap and is Rapping on behalf of G2 ( Another top team in the LEC who won the last 3 seasons back to back.)
Now the two girls are representing MAD Lions and Rogue.
Frosk(The one with the Pink Hair) stands for Rogue and Sjokz (Girl with the glasses) stands with MAD. (Btw the people in the back are some of the players of said teams.)
Now understand that these guys really are just casters, (Commentators) so this really is comming from a band of amatures. Yet I, a league player who has played and whatched the game since 2012 and really most of the people whatching pro League for at least some time can understand most of the references ofc. But I can imagine it being hard to understand for someone new to not just League but to E-sports in general. Still I hope you enjoyed listening to it and just maybe, this little explanation of mine could help you out in understanding at least the concept of this video.
Also forgot to mention, but the True Damage Giants song, Phoenix, and KD/A's Pop Star are all songs made for this very games World Finals. One is made each year. Also, if you are interested what each team raps about and stuff. I am sure people in the comments would be more than happy to explain. But in a nut shell, G2 and FNC were the top 2 teams for years and have been rivals since ages. But this very year 2 other teams finished as number 1 and 2 in the Summer regular split. Those teams are MAD and Rogue.

If you just want to be a follower of league of legends (watching pro games, watching the cinematics, catching up with lore etc) then the community is really one of the best. Ingame is different.

These are 4 of the analyst and caster crew for the professional European league and by far the best entertainers in the business, they're probably more famous and respected than most of the players.
Imagine a NFL commentator being more popular that an star player of an NFL team... This is the level they operate on.

Drakos is the real G
So the LEC is the professional European league of legends scene. They play 2 splits a year where 10 teams play each other twice. The top 4 this summer were, in order, Rogue, Mad Lions, G2 and Fnatic. They are being represented here by casters (commentators) from the same league. FNC and G2 have a historic rivalry generally being the two best teams in the league. However both have looked weaker this split especially Fnatic. Meanwhile Rogue and Mad lions (especially the lions) are being touted as the new talent on the scene. The whole battle was written in a day, recorded the next day and filmed and edited over the 5 days after that as well. Sjokz has a whole behind the scenes bit on her RUclips. The majority of the writing was done by Drakos who represented G2 here.
Btw something I didnt see in the commenta: this whole thing was written in 1 day and recorded in a day+a night.
So this started as a bet from a EUphoria podcast whoever lost the bet then had to rap (if I rember correctly). That resulted in The Nukeduck Rap (Nukeduck is a player and back then one of the top player in the LEC). Rap caught on in the league and then the casters started making one after another and started calling it Mediocore Rap Battles.

These 4 teams (+ the two that you can see in the end) made it to this years playoff.
This season ended last weekend, which gave them very short time to make this:

2 days to shoot

So LEC stands for League of Legends European Championship. The rappers are actually the broadcasters and commentators for the tournament. Fnatic, G2, Rogue, MAD Lions are the names of League of Legends teams from Europe. Fnatic and G2 are old teams with a lot of titles behind their backs, but this season Rogue and MAD Lions, newer teams with young players are challenging G2 and Fnatic for the top spots in the tournament. Its a four way rap battle between old star teams and new rising talents and the commentators each represent one of the four teams.
One important info: they made the lyrics and everything else in less than a week.
It was written in one day, filmed in one day and edited in 5 days by Drakos, Vedius, Sjokz and Froskurin from the LEC team

L9 refers to the player who replaced Broxah who played those 'sinner' picks but couldn't get ahead while the actual carry (Rekkles) was stuck on a support champ and couldn't make a difference - also they finished the split with 9 wins and 9 losses, while the previous split they were 13 - 5)

200 years in the beginning refers to the nick of aphelios
Also it's important to say that rogue & mad lions are the rookie teams that are trying to take the place of the 2 old powerhouses G2 & Fnatic
The TSM part refers to the meme propagated by EU fans that Rogue (last place EU team in Spring 2019) could beat TSM (second place NA team in Spring 2019).
"coinflipped your whole season" because two of FNC's players are commonly known as coinflip players, causing fans to ask for them to be benched
FNC is described in a fall from grace way because they finished 2nd last split, losing to G2 in the finals, even though they were the favorites. Now they are losing a lot.
FNC also went to world finals in 2018 with Caps, after which Caps left the team. This was a super controversial, as G2 and FNC are big rivals. Caps and G2 then appeared in the mid split international tournament (which they won) and world finals in 2019. Both teams lost 0-3 in a best of 5 series to Chinese teams.
Kaiser is a front runner for the summer split MVP, but it hasn't been announced yet. However, he is currently considered the best in his position. Caps is also a front runner.
"team without Syndra" this is also a reference to G2 winning in clutch moments (last game of a series) by picking Syndra outside of the position she is normally played in. During one international tournament, this confused one of the tournament favorites, allowing them to pick up the victory and go on to win that event. So Syndra is a defining pick for G2
Why Caps is mentioned so often:
Caps is mentioned so often here because he, along with his teammate Perkz (Luka Perkovich) are commonly considered the two best players that EU has (as well as the best in the Western world), even though they are on the same team. However, Perkz has slumped for the majority of the split, while Caps has been putting the team on his back, so Caps is currently held in higher regard. He is the only Western player, and one of the only players in the world, to ever appear in international finals 3x in a row. He is also the only Western player who has ever received an MVP in an international final, and has overcame almost all the criticism of his play, so he is untouchable.

LEC is the European League of Legends regional league. LEC and LCS (the North American league) are like NFC and AFC for football.

And Syndra is a character whose spells are all with balls. she is literally throwing around balls. But in league you only pick 5 champions out of over 140 champs. So if your team doesn't pick Syndra, you don't have the balls.

The rap is about the top 4 teams of the LEC (Mad Lions, Rogue, Fnatic and G2) Since the beginning of the european championship in 2013 either Fnatic or G2 won basically every season. This is season however 2 new teams (mad and rogue) finished the regular split second and first and now Schalke04 (the 6th place team) went on a 10-0 run in the past few weeks.
Today the play offs started and they are the most interesting ever.

I love your reaction to this! Drakos, the dude in the black, wrote it about the League of Legends European Summer Split Finals this weekend. This split/season had been CRAZY as the greats (Fnatic and G2) have been not so great and rookie teams are doing awesome. Drakos writes a lot of their ads and promos.

Alright, I know you can already tell these lines are decent because they get you as an uniniciated, but they are fire when you know whats going on, just a random example here:

Rogue is the team that finished first in the regular season. They are known for slow and methodical play, especially from their star midlaner Larsson. A lot of people are still kinda counting them out for playoffs because they are unproven in longer series. (the regular season games are always just one and done in europe, in the playoffs we play best of five matches though, meaning more adaptation is possible). One could say the community is sleeping on them, both because they are boring and we don't actually think they'll win even though they have the numbers.
Now for the second layer of this: In game there is a champion that saw a lot of play this season. Her name is Zoe and she has an ability called "sleepy trouble bubbly". As you can see all three words show up here and they are in perfect context. The bubble often hits the tanks (big beefy charakters that are meant to absorb damage so the ones behind them are safe) because of their size, meaning they fall asleep in game. When you hit them while they are in the bubble, the damage actually does get doubled on the first hit. meaning now in playoffs that you all are asleep on Rogue, they are going to switch gears and show up big time. All the other teams on that stage (fnatic, G2 and Mad) at the time of the shoot could still technically get knocked out and not be a part of worlds so when they continue to ignore rogue, pretending like they are still a middle of the pack team like they were last year, they might pay doubly because apart from playoffs, their chances of being a part of worlds, (Leages big international tournament) will go down as well. That's why they are in trouble.
I know you can appreciate the lines without the context but man with context it goes so much deeper, just like the real rap battles that they tried to learn from.

The others in the comments already outlined the main context but I would like to stress that the production crew in LEC rebranded last year and they have been extremely creative with adds, songs, and other small gigs.

Those 4 people are casters and represent teams that are in the play-offs for the EU League Championship for League of Legends... basically the finals.
And Fnatic and G2 always were the biggest teams which everyone was talking about.
Now tho they are on third and fourth place and Rogue and Mad are First and Second.
Fnatic talks about how they are still good, G2 is still cocky and basically says "we got third while playing for fun"
Rogue was first, but the Team needs a lot of time to close out games, they still say that they are top tier.
And Mad is still somewhere in between everything.

@@outofsyncsamurai That one was ALL flowers. Basically it was like EU kicking ass and NA hiding away, then popping out when Flowers starts, then hiding away again. Not to mention the lyrics did much better at specifically dissing NA players and performance, etc, while the NA side of the rap just felt a bit weaker - mostly lacking in any "bite" or attacking lines. Then again, maybe it's unfair to Flowers. He had to defend NA when (no flame) it's international results just aren't very good.

There's a LOOOOOT of meta bars but it's true that a lot of bars, even some of the meta ones can be understood via context and still hit hard enough.
It's about the League of Legends European Championship (LEC), which is just getting into playoffs after the regular season ended. The top 4 seeds of playoffs were represented in the video.
If you want a quick (wasn't that quick when i finished lol) rundown for each team represented by a caster, it'd be something like:
-MAD Lions: Roster full of new blood, were promising in spring split and showed up big time on summer split holding the best results for a while. Finished regular summer as 2nd.
-Rogue: Another pretty new roster. Known for slow but methodical and consistant play; Also got A LOT better from spring to summer. Finished summer as 1st.
-G2: Widely regarded as the best EU team for the last few years, despite not being a new team its considered sort of a pioneer of the current era of EU league due to their quick rise to dominance and ever since they joined the league they only dropped from first place on two splits in 4 years ( won 7/9 splits, currently in playoffs for what would be their 8th if they manage to win ). They are the best performing european team at worlds in recent history, and despite their slump in performance this split, the rumour is that they dont play the game as much to avoid burnout and that they're going all out for playoffs and worlds, which gives EU fans a lot of hope for this team. Despite finishing summer on 3rd place i think it's fair to say that for a lot of people G2 are the clear favorites.
(Also their Twitter Account has a massive presence and a lot of their memes/trends appeared in bars, most notably Hakuna Matata and #UnitedInRivalry which i believe is a FNC thing that they just memed harshly)
-Fnatic (FNC): Old org with a lot of prestige, only dropped a single split before G2 came to the scene. Their "superstar" player Rekkles is often thought as the face of the team and has been in innumerable versions of the roster. Pretty much since G2 joined the scene it has been all about their rivalry and it was thought of almost a given that every finals would be G2 vs FNC. FNC has recently been struggling and playing very sluggishly compared to their highly regarded usual "FNC clean play" and people are starting to lose faith on them, sort of leading into a new blood era where MAD, Rogue and G2, the "new guys" dominate, not just due to players but also different approach to coaching staff, etc.
If you watch playoffs this weekend you'll get a pretty good idea of the storylines since they usually try to put that on the forefront, and if you wanna look up something else, there are 2 more teams in playoffs and right now one of them, Schalke 04, is the hottest storyline as they barely made it to playoffs on a surprising comeback spree after starting the split 0-7.

It is the League of Legends European Championship league where Fanatic and G2 have been the only teams to have ever won the title since its creation. G2 have won the past 4 titles and are looking for a 5th this year. MAD Lions and Rogue are up and coming teams that have challenged these two historic teams to be the best this year 2020. I am a Fanatic Fan and it has been tough watching G2 dominate, but i'm sure it is our year!
