Thank you Clive. I recently needed different shades of brown for an old shabby roof. This really helped it stick in my head. I learned to mix tiny amounts as I go. Seeing color mixing demonstrated is way more effective for me than trying to memorize combinations.
This is really great for me. When I went to the mountains this summer I took the primaries and black and white with me. I had a devil of a time making any good browns to work with.
Hello Clive, this is a great vid. I'm a new painter and a new subscriber and I discovered your channel and it is so helpful. I'm glad you did this mixing live to show us how to work out color mixing. You give me so much confidence. Also, one of the most important take-aways for me is how you lightened the color to show the undertones. Brilliant! Thanks from Chicago in the U.S. --nina.
+HARDCASE44 ok I tend to use Yellow ochre + White Burnt Umber + yellow + White In various tones you can mix in some vandyke brown also Or that's Burnt Umber + Black Try several tones of colour play with the mixing
While you're trying to mix the Vandyke I'm screaming at the screen "PUT YELLOW IN IT!". The patch where you've added the white has a definite yellow tint.
I have a basic pallet and the red is different from yours as well as the yellow and blue. I don't want to spend moore money on more basic colours. Do I just play with the primary colours and black and whit?
there are several tones of red, blue, yellow whats important is that you use what you have if you mix colours try and use the same reds, blues, yellows all the time i try to standardise my pallet to make it easy clive
Nice 👍👍👍
