Pipelines for Beginners - How does an oil pipeline work?

  • Every day millions of gallons of oil moves from oil production fields in the far north to refineries in the far south that are thousands of miles away. To put it in perspective, the oil that makes this journey produces enough refined gasoline to power 20% of all American cars on the road. How does all that oil get from Canada to all those American cars? The answer is pipelines, and in this video I’ll explain how that happens. How pipelines move oil from the place it’s pulled out of the ground all the way to the truck in your driveway. Let’s get started.

    20 percent , where does the other 80 Percent come from?

      The 20% is what comes from Canada if I understand your question. The other 80% comes from a combination of US wells and wells in other countries.
