I was writing my review for this figure and decided people may benefit from having a video tutorial and my thoughts on the ball mode. Do you have a better non official version? Let me know.

Mike, good point! There are probably a few more ways to get that ball position for the Droideka! We got a video right now that actually shows a different way than you showed. I think yours and what we posed looks better than what Hasbro posed. But I agree with you, Hasbro's pose doesn't look right. Thanks for the vid!
Oh for sure, I’ve seen a few great looking ball modes out there.
I just got two of these. Now I can pose one in Roll mode and the other in Attack mode! Thanks for the post😊
I got two also!
I’m having too much fun just exploring all the joints and shapes this thing makes as a big ole gun toting insect thing to care about a ball shape. I haven’t even tried. It is interesting to see your approach. Hasbro has so many joints in this thing. I do wonder how much of a marionette it becomes. But now I’m just having fun.
There’s definitely a lot to like in this for sure! I can’t wait to get my full review recorded.
It's a great looking figure and must've been a head scratcher for the toy designers.
I doubt they could've made a perfect spinny wheel mode without having a seperate fig locked in that position.
Mike, your transformation looks much better than Hasbro's. Thanks for the vid.👍
It's so close. If the back leg could just slide down that groove, it would hit the wheel shape.
That’s all I can think of, how hard this was to make. There’s so much going on here, I don’t blame it for not being 100% on ball mode.
I folded mine in a similar way except I turned all the legs backwards and folded them in. It make more of a ball shape and it can stand in the ball position.
Neat!
Thanks Mike! This is helpful. I have been afraid to open mine (I bought 3) because I am overwhelmed about the transformation, but I am going to do so today. There is another channel (The Art of Action Figures) that showed a quick non-destructive process of connecting the head to a different peg in order to complete the circle a little closer. Check it out if you have a chance.
Oh yeah, that’s Pletho’s video! He’s one of our BSC Patreon VIP members. He’s so talented!
I’m surprised you didn’t show off the configuration from the Reddit thread yesterday as well
I didn’t want to just copy someone else’s process. This is the one I came up with on my own, but it’s definitely not the only way.
Mike Kaese did a video on how to get the droid into ball mode, and I found a video from the art of action figures , he has a decent way of getting it into ball mode.
Yeah that's pletho! He's a VIP patreon supporter of my podcast! Cool guy! his video is good too
It’s interesting bc the Droideka cg model “cheated” for the designers and animators to put it into wheel mode. Very good that Hasbro gave it a good try to let it be in ball mode, can’t wait for mine. Good video
More like inexcusable to release the figure basically incomplete
I really just wish that back leg slid along the groove to be accurate.
He’s like a transformer lol. My dad saw this today but I told him to get me conehead instead at GameStop
Both are good figures!
@@MikeKaess ik but I didn’t want him to spend too much money on me I’ll get the droideka myself
Am I the only one wondering what the 2 silver dots on the the chest are for.
First I thought they were metal pins for the arms to hinge but they're not metal and have no connection to the arms.
I still think it looks like something should attach to the chest🤔
Mike Kaess, Droideka Police
Stop, in the name of the lore!
Mike thanks. That's a lot of great tips. I may form him into a ball once. But on myself he's going to be an attack mode. I really love this figure and yes hasbro should have gave instructions. Appreciate you man.
Yeah, for me it’s something that’s cool that it can kinda do, but it’s not the end all be all of the figure.
Goated video
Too kind, shill.
Yes another transformers joke lol!
It’s how I love my life.
@@MikeKaess you and I both lol, love it, keep the good videos coming!!! Always fun to watch!
Got mine and its real cool
There’s definitely a lot to like!
"But it won't be screen accurate without droidussy articulation!" - definitely not Hasbro designers 😅
100%
Is this gonna be the first guy who gets it right?
Edit: He's the closest so far, but the black series isn't even strong enough to get it right
There isn't really a way to get it 100% right unfortunately.
Thanks for sharing this! I was pausing and watching in slow motion and realized that back leg needed to move too, but I do like your method here!
Glad if it helped. Yeah, that back leg not moving is the key to why the ball isn't 100% accurate.
I followed a similar process as the one recommended by Lego for their new buildable droideka… I would post a picture if I could, but you have to take my word for it that it kinda works… that’s kinda with a lot of wiggle room. The best transforming droideka till date was the Lego technic droideka.
I should pick that up for sure.
Whatever your doing, your doing it weird and wrong. The middle leg is a cervical connection to link with aliens to bring forth the end of the world 🌎 😂
It’s so simple, it was there all along, right in front of me.
They had one job. Hasbro can bend a clone trooper rifle into a perfect curve, why can’t they make the goddamn droideka circular FFS
🤷♂️
Hasbro fails again
Wrong
@zacharndt9221 Im sorry. They failed horribly.
That’s a little bit of throwing the baby out with the bath water. While it’s not perfect, calling it a failure is an over exaggeration.
@MikeKaess For me, if a droideka can not transform to ball fully, then it's not a Droideka. I hope Bandai makes one and actually gives us what we deserve.
Really wish this came with instructions, it’s basically a Transformer!
Pretty much!
@@MikeKaess I managed to get mine in a pretty decent ball shape but someone told me I “wasn’t doing it right” because the legs aren’t supposed to swivel up like that. Brother at least it can _roll_ now.
