What is the TCP/IP model? It's a model to standardise computer networking.
The OSI model, while widely referenced isn't used in the real world. The TCP/IP model, however, is the real deal. Thankfully, it's not all that different.
Here is the original TCP/IP model.
    Application, Transport, Internet, and Link.
Just like the OSI model, it's numbered from the bottom up but the direction depends if you're sending or receiving traffic.
So this is the original TCP/IP model, but, it has been updated.
The link-layer has been split into Data Link and Physical
and the Internet Layer has been renamed the Network layer.
Layer 5: Application protocols such as HTTP, FTP, and SMTP
Layer 4: The two most common transport protocols are TCP and UDP.
Port numbers are also added here.
Layer 3: At the Network layer, we have the Internet Protocol or IP.
Routers also commonly operate at this layer
Layer 2: The data link layer contains Ethernet related protocols.
Switches usually operate at this layer. Although you can get layer 3 switches that have routing capabilities
Layer 1: Think of everything you can touch and feel here.
Things like cables, hubs and Network interface cards.

@@Certbros Sorry to say but you do have a boring monotone voice. But your videos are great anyway because you really, REALLY know how to present and explain ideas very well and simply. You've got a new subscriber and, even though I'm not the least bit interested in the CCNA course or even the CCNA cert itself, I'm buying your course when it's out.

      Original Model of TCP/IP:
      Application
      Transport
      Internet
      Network access
      Updated model:
      Application
      Transport
      Internet
      Data Link
      Physical
Can you please clarify? as this will easily confuse people. Your Diagram says different
"Network" was never part of the updated model of TCP/IP right?
and "Network Access" is part of the original model.

I hear the Network+ exam expects people to answer layer 2, even though it has a physical component. Does the CCNA expect layer 2 as well?

@@AnilSharma-pl6cw I'd say it depends on the professor, some you can definetly blame I mean I had a professor that provided machines for everyone to work on during online class because of the pandemic and then I had one that used a 2007 powerpoint and read of it to teach, some professors see the job has building the future of ones country and some see the job has a paycheck at the end of the month. (the machines provided weren't physical the professor had a server of his own on which he created several virtual machines for each student because some students didn't have the means to have online classes).

I learned some new features of the tcp/ip model so thank you:
    - There was a 4 layer tcp/ip protocol where the phisical layer and data link layer was a link layer and the name of networking layer was ethernet layer.
    - The idea of 2 sides encapsulation in the link data layer is that the head part contains important staff like mac addresses and the tail contains some error checking data.
    - Great diagrams to easy learning
    - Super useful information
    Keep going
