Slightly off subject here,....but,...nice to see someone eating with table manners. So many foodies with RUclips channels take massive bites,...or dress like slobs when they go out to eat. I appreciate the classier approach you bring,....especially to the higher-end restaurants.
While James clearly did not "dress like a slob," to my mind a restaurant as fine as this calls for a jacket or blazer at the very least for a gentleman. (It was once very common for men to be _required_ to wear a jacket at most fine restaurants.) If I were there myself - especially by dint of an invitation - I would also wear a tie. I may be old-fashioned, but such "proper" dinner attire would help me to show my appreciation for the top-class style of the place, the solicitous service, the effort put into the food and presentation, and most of all - the invitation to dine _gratis._
@@WeeCarBoot Well,...certainly all of what you said is correct...however,...considering most young(er) people have 0 class or manners it was nice to see he wasn't in a jogging suit with a baseball hat on backwards.
@@Tonymanero1960 Ha! You are also correct... sadly. The hats-at-the-dining-table thing absolutely floors me. My father would be _scandalized_ by such boorish behaviour. As I've said to ballcap-wearers before: a gentlemen *NEVER* does this, and a lady *ALWAYS* notices it!
Amazing to see you getting invited by such a legendary restaurant, I would never want to leave the coziness of that dining room and the food looked incredible
All of these old-school urban social clubs have such interesting histories. most of them have gone away, except for Chicago and New York, which still seems to have quite a few.
This looks delicious! Can't wait to try this place. I went to make a reservation at Cote today and realized they only book tables for 2+. Dining alone should be easier!!
They need to fix their reputation from previous bad management. Very stylish place though. Most fine dining establishments (even 3 Michelin star) skimp on their menu graphic design and the Lambs Club menu is pretty nice.
It's very cool that you got that invite. The wife and I looked at each other when you mentioned the invite. At that moment, we felt proud of you!. Lol. But we did. Excellent video. Hope to see you in May. Before you are Mr. Big time. 😊😊😊
Just discovered your channel. You deserve more views; your production is about on level with most TV shows about restaurants. Can't believe it took this long for the algorithm to recommend you to me, I watch food content regularly.
What a beautiful restaurant. Everything looked really good, and your skills as a presenter are near flawless. Your honesty is commendable that they comped your meal. You're doing the heavy lifting getting the word out with your time and talent, and hopefully this will be the norm for these high end places. Thanks for sharing this.
Again a very good video. Before my next visit of New York i will definitely screen all your videos again, to get some inspirations what to visit. Your subscribers going also up faster and faster. A compliment to your high quality works. Greetings from snowy Germany
The camera work, the music, and your narration blended seamlessly with the ambience of the restaurant and the presentation of the food. Keep up the great work James!
Amongst all the spot-on and drool-worthy elements of this video, I greatly appreciate your comment about the salt on the steak, and potentially foregoing the sauces just to experience how delicious (or not, in some cases) the meat is. Sometimes, less is more. Thanks again, James - oh man, more terrific camera work, narrative and music. This channel is firing on all cylinders.
Thank you! Yeah, I always have to be honest, but I'm also glad that I really liked the food. It would've been pretty awkward to make a review about it then.
Headwaters crystal river fl. My friend when restaurants in Manhattan invite you, you have arrived! What an honor. The food was incredible, what got me believe it or not was the squash, how beautiful and tasty was that! The steak was medium but not overly done, it happens. All the sauces served with the steak was impressive! Bernaise served with a steak in Florida is hard to find sometimes, love it. Look forward to the next review.
I really enjoy the reviews. I love how he describes everything he eats instead of just filming himself eat. You get a real idea of how food really is. Thanks for coming to New Haven as well. I think you cover our city well.
Wow James, I loved the dining room at the Lambs Club and the food looked so incredibly beautiful and delicious. I'm not usually a big soup guy, but that soup looked velvety ( is that a word?.. well you know what I mean) and heavenly! You know I never really noticed the music you play in the background. But in this video it really stood out and added so much to the experience of watching your video. Now I feel like I have to re-watch your other videos to enjoy the music too! Thanks again for taking us on this delightful dinner at the Lamb's club 🙏🏼
Thanks for watching! Velvety would be the perfect description for that soup. It was excellent! Yeah, I try my best to find good music to pair with my videos, but sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge. I'm happy with how the music went with this video.
Thank you James for this dining experience! As a former native New "Yawker" I had dined at hot dog stands to fine restaurants as a resident there for so many years. The choices on the menu look inventive and delicious. It has been an interesting culinary journey since we subscribed to your channel. I've even recreated some the the dishes you ate. Bravo & thumbs up!
I’ve seen a few of your Steak videos. For a high end restaurant to send out under seasoned Steaks is a sin. I do enjoy your work, sir. Watching you consume meals in various establishments is most relaxing.
Another enjoyable episode. The calm contrast of the restaurants interior compared to the frantic noise of Times Square is difficult to ignore. A thoroughly enjoyable experience to be able to “escape” the outside world and relax in such a serene environment. Best of all with great food. Touche!
Your video presentation was flawless. You picked a good selection of foods and I salute your keenness to select vegetables rather than a starch for your side. Starches would have probably not allow you to finish the meal. Steak can always be slightly off (too rare, too medium) but the cut looked good.
Thank you! Yeah, it was a meal that had nice variety. While I love potatoes, I do prefer to have something on the lighter side when pairing it with a steak, which was still very good though, even if it wasn't perfect.
Way to go… getting yourself invited to a restaurant and being noticed. You do a fine job of reviews. The restaurant ambience was perfect and very inviting and set the mood for eating some fantastic food. Everything looked amazing that you ate. I would love all those steak sauces. Great job. Thanks you for the video.
Indeed! It was beautiful and the steak was very good, but I thought that it was more of a medium. I should've shined a light on the steak because the red plate and my camera made it look a little more pink than it actually was.
@ldeanjr2 Haha! We'll see. If someone takes the time to watch my videos, I feel that it's only right to respond to their comments. Although, I do get a lot of them these days and it can be easy to miss one, I do really appreciate all of them.
I’ve been watching a number of your videos now and I must say I prefer it when I see you paying for your meal. It means you’ve got more skin in the game and not being treated to a dinner. I like that you’re honest but when you pay for your food you are like “one of us” who are watching your video and will have to pay for our meal. I get that one of the key benefits of producing the video reviews that you do allows for this type of subsidizing and it’s what many RUclipsrs who are trying to make money from their channel are aspiring towards. Sponsorships are great but the rest of us will be paying full price. Anyway, I’m enjoying your reviews so thanks.
Thank you! I know what you mean. I'm pretty selective when it comes to restaurants inviting me. I wouldn't go to a place that I wouldn't normally go to if I was spending my own money.
Wow... that looked like one of the best meals I've seen you review. It's a downpour here in Vancovuer this evening and that soup looked like it would've been perfect!!!
Great review and congratulations on the 20k subs! Looks delicious, seems pricey for the amount of food serving. However it does have a great atmosphere, fantastic service and good food.
Nice review again, James. As I've aged, like your cocktail, I never pass up an opportunity to have soup, and soup was well illustrated in the review. Everything looked great, and I think the mood of your presentation probably exemplified that of the restaurant. You said you wondered why the place wasn't packed. That may be, in part, why they invited you. Some marketing person suggested a sensible way to draw in new diners... and you've done everything right in terms of full disclosure. So The Lamb's Club is now on my list.
Thank you! It was indeed a really nice place and I'm sure you're right in that regard of why I was invited. It's hard for even really good restaurants to succeed in NYC when there's just so much competition out there. Hopefully, this fine place will get the crowds they deserve. Also, I did go early on a Monday night so I'm sure it's probably a bit more filled on weekends.
I went to the lambs club in 2017 when Jeffery was still there. The food and service were fabulous as was the dining room. One of the top ten meals I’ve had.
Bravo James! All looked excellent and I'm so glad you found it to be a fine dining experience. Btw, how did you manage to get invited to The Lambs Club? Just curious. Ciao.
While I tend to avoid Midtown, I'll keep this on my radar! I love the old school NYC vibe going on here. Chimichurri is my favorite steak topping if I decide to add one, and those carrots look phenomenal! Wonderful review as always sir!

This looks like such a cozy place, I would be interested for sure if I ever find myself in NYC. You can just tell that caramel sauce on the sundae was amazing!
Great review I went there this year and loved it. No lamb though they said sometimes they have it sometimes dont. This is one of best in times Square. Also if you want to eat one of best Italian and old go to Barbetta on Restaurant row. Not many videos on it and it opened In 1905 go when it's not pre theater menu. Lots of history never been reviewed in times
I'm glad to hear that you had a good experience! I never even thought about having lamb at The Lambs Club, but that's a good point. Thank you for the recommendation as well! I'll look it up.
@@Jamesnu great it's one of the most beautiful restaurants in city old fashion and great outdoor fountain. I'll be at Noksu Dec 16 as my next big restaurant and probably Delmonicos after that. I'm really thankful to have gotten that opportunity. It's a great restaurant! Yeah, the service was fantastic and it was only right to leave a good tip.
This restaurant seems like the very place for single dining or dining with friends. It looked cozy and nice and as you said, more people should have been there but maybe, after watching your channel and the good reviews you gave them. It might change things for them! By the way the food looked good and so did the dessert! 😊

I recommend doing a video review of The Waverly Inn..which was an "it" spot scene restaurant back in 2007 - 2010..but it's still a great restaurant minus the paparazzi now..check out Frank Bruni's and Adam Platt's great reviews from back in the day
@@Jamesnu I was one of the token nobodys that had a regular table there..I could give tons of historical insight about its glory days..check out Chef John DeLucie's book The Hunger which covers his tenure at The Waverly Inn

Great reviews...One distraction is if you could set the camera more at face level or above face level so we don't stare up your nostrils while eating...Just a Zoom pet peeve of mine...
Thank you! Yeah, it's tough sometimes placing my camera on the tables at restaurants. There are times when the table is too small and I can't get everything in the frame so I have to place the camera at a lower level. Plus, putting a tripod on the table could be a bit distracting for other diners.
That was a huge amount of food and certainly worth the price (well, the real price, not yours) in my opinion. Great video of a place that I'd never heard of...

Thanks for watching! Yeah, I thought that the restaurant had a great atmosphere.
Great review!
Thank you!
Interested in the photo of how the cutlery was left on the plate after the squash dish, can you explain please
When I finished eating, I placed all my silverware on the plate.
Looked amazing.
It was a great meal!
This was so fancy. I had to pause the video to put on my suit to watch rest 😅
Haha!
Hello my friend, I hope you can remember me. I watched and enjoyed your videos since the beginning. Since I am on a massive digital detox these days, I missed out on a few of your lastr videos. I hope everything is alright and I wish you and the family a merry christmas and a great start to the new year. Best regards Boris
Thank you Boris! Of course I remember you and I've always appreciated your support. I hope you and your family have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year as well!
I recommend doing a video review of The Waverly Inn..which was an "it" spot scene restaurant back in 2007 - 2010..but it's still a great restaurant minus the paparazzi now..check out Frank Bruni's and Adam Platt's great reviews from back in the day
That's been a restaurant that I've been wanting to check out. I'll definitely make a video about it when I do.
@@Jamesnu I was one of the token nobodys that had a regular table there..I could give tons of historical insight about its glory days..check out Chef John DeLucie's book The Hunger which covers his tenure at The Waverly Inn
great review! btw you're one of the few people that don't make me cringe when seeing them eat on screen.
Haha! Thank you!
amazing video. i want to live in nyc now
Thank you! It's an amazing city!
Thank you for leaving an appropriate tip. I dislike when people don’t do that.
I don't like bad tippers either.
Quality speaks for itself!
Indeed!
The last time I was there it was eerily quiet. There was Silence in the Lambs! 😉
Haha!

the cost is not too bad for such fine dining. expert review. you should try the petrossian next or afternoon tea at one of the hotels
Thank you! I'll keep those places in mind.
The Peter Luger sauce is not intended for the steak, its for the tomato/onion app, salads, and bacon.
oh that sorbet on the menu sounded fantastic
I agree!
Damn, you are getting noticed to be invited by restaurant. Good job on the video, keep it up 👍
Thank you! Yeah, it was a great opportunity!
That steak looked perfectly cooked, better than most steak houses that slather their meat in pools of butter
Also excellent review as always James, as a New York resident embarrassed not knowing about this fantastic and historic restaurant, can’t wait to experience it in person
Thank you! I know what you mean. There's a ton of amazing places that I'm just learning about too.
You really have great content. You should have a lot moRE subs than you do.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
This boy can eat!
It's my favorite thing to do!
Try Burn's restauant in Tampa, Florida! Its wonderful!!
It's definitely a restaurant that I want to try in the future. Thank you for the recommendation!
Plus, putting a tripod on the table could be a bit distracting for other diners.
was your visit recent? the menu price looked pretty cheap for current market. for what u ordered, $181 for 1 person is pretty good.
Yeah, I went there right at the end of November. I thought that the pricing was definitely fair.
@@Jamesnu awesome, i will definitely try out this restaurant as per your recommendation. great content, keep up the good work!
@@OperationNonsense Thank you! I hope you enjoy it!
What a beautiful place to enjoy a wonderful meal! Question....how do you stay so fit considering all of the eating you do? Just asking. :)
It was definitely a gorgeous restaurant. Running is one of my favorite hobbies and I'm always active, which helps me stay in shape.
That was a huge amount of food and certainly worth the price (well, the real price, not yours) in my opinion. Great video of a place that I'd never heard of...
Thank you! Yeah, it was a ton of good food and I thought that it was priced fairly.
You should carry a small baggie of that maldon finishing salt with you everywhere you go. Just in case, lol.
@@jeromeapuan7126 Haha! That's a good idea!
James is a master of language. Did I hear “palate fatigue” and “mouth feel?”
🤔
Thanks! I try!
