Hey man - really like your review. One of the nicer ones out there for this jacket :-) About the "magical powers"... I wore my Atom SL on an all-day hike where the temperature was 0 - 5 celcius (32 F at the bottom of this scale :-). At the peak it got down in the minus area, so I'm thinking it got close to the 25 F you were talking about. The hike was from 2.100m to 2.700m in the bulgarian Rila mountains. Guess what - I was toasty warm as long as I was moving. No magic powers - I simply had a light polo and my nike longarm running shirt underneath. Like I said - while moving it was almost too warm (but almost almost). When stopped for a short sandwich-break, I did have to throw on my hardshell to cut the wind, otherwise I would have froze to death :-) But yeah - no magical powers, but if you are not casually standing around, you are on the move, and you have 2 thin layers beneath... then you could get away with an all-day adventure with no additional jacket or bulky fleece or softshell...
@@DansVoyage Yes - it was amazing. Search von "Seven Rila Lakes". Breathtaking. I have been using the Atom SL now for about 4 months. I love, love, love it. Now with the colder weather, I got myself the Atom LT. I find it even too warm for some days, but will keep both...
@@sudanjackson That's great! I ended up getting the Patagonia nanoair at the end of last season I wonder how they compare to each other. That hike looks so pristine. The lack of tees really surprised me.
Me again :-) After spending some days at -7C to -11C in Bulgaria, I decided to try out the Atom LT o_O... My observations: I actually end up grabbing the SL more often. This winter has been quite "warm", never getting below 0c here at home in Cologne Germany. Once or twice I threw on the LT do go Nordic Walking - but it was way too warm at 3C and things got really sweaty, really fast. This was with one very simple base-layer... Same circuit, same level of exertion, same temps, but with the SL was more comfortable while moving. As stated below - slowing down and resting a minute in the SL at 3C is chilly and not very comfortable. In the LT it was toasty. So - hard for me to call. I love my SL, and it is with me everywhere. The winter here has not been warm enough to merit the LT, and I almost feel like I wasted my money getting it, although it has its merits in colder conditions, or as a commuter at around the 0-5C range it is great.
personally, I wear a cheap tracksuit top on top of a base layer for x country skiing, or something more expensive like the Rab vapourise alpine jkt. I also use this for ice climbing... when I stop for a belay or lunch, I put on a beefy down jkt, or a synthetic one.
Yup. I use it most days usually as my outer layer since I’m in California. As far as favorite goes I wish it was a little longer in the torso, but it’s the only active wear jacket so I guess so haha.

Thanks for the comment. That sounds like and awesome hike. How long have you been using the jacket for?
if you do wash it, i recommend using the tech wash to clean and reapply the dwr coating to bring it back as close to the factory spec.
great video!

Sounds like the jacket is hitting the perfect sweet spot for you!

Hugely informative. Can you wear a light sweater/100 weight fleece under it easily? Keep up the great work!
It would have been great if you would have back up one time a littke to let us see the full jacket and not only half of it but otherwise great video
Thanks for the feedback!

Do you still use and your favorite?

Hi.Which one do you prefer to wear in warm weather? Atom sl or Proton lt ?
(My english is bad sorry)
what size you wear?
I wear a size medium in this jacket. I am 5'11
I'm 6ft tall, athletic build, 220 lbs. I wear their rain jacket in a large. Do you think a large would fit or would you recommend the XL? Thanks!
