He is such a humble guy. Bless him. I can totally relate to what he saying about treating people with certain biases because of the kind of jobs they do. I'm a receptionist at a certain place and I have been amazed by how people can be mean to others just because of the jobs they do. But again you learn not to take it to heart.

I love it when I hear positive things about my home State, Texas, born and raised. We're not all bad. My mom who started out as a kitchen worker in our local hospital was so loved and respected by both Blacks and Whites that two doctors who saw her loving and caring nature asked if she would consider going to school to be a nurse? These two White doctors made this possible for her and paid her way , the first Black woman to become a nurse in our small town, 25+ years as a nurse. My dad trained to be a plumber by a White man, the first Black man to do so and did plumbing for almost 60 yrs. Like I said Texas has good people all over!!!!!!!

How you navigate those challenging moments of discrimination where many of us would choose to explode is nothing short of divine. I'm reminded of Jesus' words to the men who crucified him..."Father forgive them for they know not what they're doing." God bless you sir!
This is such an incredible learning for me. Thank you David. I too acknowledge my own personal bias as a Ugandan and it's mostly ethnicity. But I've also suffered similar biases of race out of Africa. Am not as big and educated like you're but am also working to help my community improve health outcome. Thank you David.
True Biblical truth,” Humble yourself before the Lord and He will raise you up! We are all equal before God and humility is a virtue of a true gentleman and gentle lady! Empty tins make most of noise! Hongera Dr. David Wachira, and Lynn for good job!
The man is blessed 🙏 beyong measures. Unfortunately, when our black brothers reach a certain status in society like this gentleman-- they hardly pick a wonderful black woman. It's like they believe more in the white image in order to be accepted in the high rank society. When these black folks die _ all their inheritance return back to their white partners _ hence to the white society. No wonder why our black economy always crumble. The black people in power who have money continue to reinforce the economy of the white man. Compared to other races, we black people are so caught up in that white Jesus given to us by the white man - that that colonial mentality of the slave master make us think that we need to have a white partner in order to be considered better and fit in in the white community. David W. Will continue to face all types of discrimination _ unless he decides to surround himself with his own black folk and be with a black woman like him. Otherwise, his ancestors will be chasing him all the time. Chinese are good example to follow - They are about their own. They never deny their own culture. They carry it every where with them. The Chinese shops and restaurants are always decorated with Chinese items. That's so powerful.
Sense alot of humility and Godliness in this guy's life! What an inspiring story! Wish Kenyans would hear this and learn from Dr Wachira story! God bless you Lynn! 🙏❤️
This was amazing & brought me to tears. To hear someone of such caliber display empathy & compassion towards those that was disrespectful towards him is beyond inspiring❤️
This guy has a good heart. We need to treat people kindly no matter how they look like..The fact that he just acts nice and kind even after being mistreated it's just something out of this world. I have been inspired so much inspired today
But this type of treatment is so common in Africa. Even something as simple as traveling with your white friends to Africa, reaching at the airport, the airport staff treat you different. They treat the white people better and not their fellow African. It is very absurd. I am based in the UK and I have witnessed this on several occasions. It’s very absurd.
@@faridahfaddy4215 very true , even just go to restaurants like Java and Artcaffe, you see the waiters paying much attention to white guys and even serve them before you.
I am really inspired by Dr. David Wachira’s story of resilience and strong desire for human dignity and respect. I particularly love the phrase “treat people with respect- Period.”
One thing I have learnt and appreciated from David is not taking things personally you can't really control someone's perception of you but you are in control of how you persevere yourself unapologetically.
This is a son of a very humble man of God here in USA. Humble and intelligent family in USA. This young man is real inspirational to young people. See how watu wetu are so judgemental. Just because he is married to a white girl they assume he is a driver. Never judge people by their look. Humility is a virteous thing. They see mukurino and judge. The guy is high IQ. Biases and puting people in a box. Never anyone
Wow Lynn! How do I explain how I feel after having heard this interview? All my life as a black girl raised and educated here in the United States, has been as I now see, a life beneath what my possibilities are. Though I am greatful for the many blessings I have received, I now see how many more of them have not been taken advantage of. I can give excuse after excuse why and how this is true but at the end of the day, they all end up with me and my decisions . I wish it was possible for me to have seen this interview as a young girl even though it would have been difficult for me to have done so as there was no internet back then and there weren't even cell phones . Please don't ever consider not doing this work that your are doing. Being a journalist may not be you being a doctor, yet you still have the ability to save lives. The only thing we patients have to do is listen and let the inspiration of your stories provide as fuel for us to propel. This interview caught my interest because of the title but it turned ot to be about so much more. When I listened to this interview the fibers of my body were charged. Thank you so very much! Now at 53 years of age I am concentrating will be concentrating on being the best navigator of this plane called self I can be. To David and his wife I wish you peace, and many many more blessings. Thank you for being who you are.
12:58- 13:08: "Sometimes you may not be able to change your circumstances but you can change how you perceive, respond or act on those circumstances". Thank you Lynn for these stories.
This is what ave been trying to tell Africans, yelling or speaking aloud and aggressively is not a sign of strength or knowledge. If you have anything to tell people, say it in an articulate and intelligent manner so that people can understand, like this gentleman, I could listen to his intelligence and calmness all day!!
Yep and be considered the driver. Who the hell goes around telling a race of people that they should speak in an "articulate intelligent manner so that people can understand"? What are you really trying to say?
Living in Mombasa for years taught me not to go into details 😂 Because of my looks somehow pple thought I was a "mswahili" and many times, while outdoors, the wonderful warm coasterians would greet me in Arabic, "Salaam Aleikum" and I would just answer with a smile. I got used to it. I found the diversity of cultures, races, tribes and religions at the Coast very very refreshing. What a beautiful inspiring story indeed. You, as an individual, are responsible for your reaction, always be kind, because everyone is fighting a battle. Lynn, as usual you've wowed us.
David is a special person. He epitomizes all that is admirable and good. God bless him and his wife as they make this world a better place. Thank you for this interview.
Wisdom, intelligence, integrity, professionalism, and confidence from David are on another super level, thank you Lynn for bringing David - a real legend and his lovely wife. You are blessed.
David's testimony is an inspiration. It is true that you don't need to speak back to defend who you are. Simplicity and humility is the key here. Let your work and actions testify about u. God is the one who will lift u up at the right time. Thanks Lynn for this interview
I loved this episode and just to say that David is such an inspiration in a generation where it is all about self, self, self, me, I, myself, etc. Even the Bible says that God uplifts the humble and brings down the proud. Lovely show Lynn.
It is the third time I am watching this. The humility and inspiration exhibited are very educative, especially to young people. Bless you and your family, David!
"their position does not define their self worth" - well said, David. This is something I encourage people I coach to internalise from both sides. Sometimes due to circumstances in/outside the workplace, many define themselves solely by the work they and others do. Or they elevate the worth of others merely based on the work those people do, which can lower self confidence and communication of their own value. Thank you both for this interview.
@@oscarwaiharo Coaching is part of what I do, to help stressed professional regain or develop their confidence to move to the next level in their career/job, by upgrading their skills for interviews, presentations, meetings, handling job changes. Many times changing self- communication allows for more creative ways to deal with work challenges that can derail us. That's one reason why this interview resonated with me.
...wow... how wonderful to hear Dr Wachira telling us all to respect each other..."period" irrespective of their colour, race, class... just respect all. Wonderful wife for supporting the community work they are doing in Kenya. Well done Lynn 💙👏
He doesn't need to tell black people this because blacks always worship other people and treat them better than their own....he needs to preach that to his white supremacists in-laws.

I am so happy to see this today. I am from Trinidad and my son is presently at graduate school in Texas with some of the same dreams at 24 that David had. David Wachira's take on bias and racism is truly inspirational, his sense of responsibilty to his team and his fellow man is amazing. I had already sent his information to my son for him to look at. I have been disregarded and treated as this ‘average probably loud Mswahili girl’. A patient once complained to my bosses that they met this rude Swahili doctor ; I hadn’t been rude in any way and I had only communicated medical facts empathically but truthfully and it was something they didn’t want to hear . My bosses were shocked and upon enquiry, we noticed it was all in their mind. I have also been dismissed as an average student in academic institutions I have been to only to prove everyone wrong all the time . Let’s stop wrong perceptions and treatments.

The world needs more like this young Doctor. Really inspirational.
That's normal. 😊
@@faridahfaddy4215 inferiority complex with Africans leaving in Africa
@@faridahfaddy4215 very true , even just go to restaurants like Java and Artcaffe, you see the waiters paying much attention to white guys and even serve them before you.

I am really inspired by Dr. David Wachira’s story of resilience and strong desire for human dignity and respect. I particularly love the phrase “treat people with respect- Period.”
If humility was a person! Very inspiring. Thanks Lynn and Dr. Wachira.
"Treat people with respect"
My fellow Kenyan countrymen, this is for us....Jifunze kuheshimu watu.
What a humble great man!
The humility with this guy is just unbelievable.Dr. Wachira, you are truly inspirational. May God keep enlarging your territory.
Waoh! My primary mathematics teacher mr waigwa...he used to discipline us vizuri bila tafadhali..
Wow Lynn! How do I explain how I feel after having heard this interview? All my life as a black girl raised and educated here in the United States,
has been as I now see, a life beneath what my possibilities are.
This is a very inspirational story.
God bless you and your family David.
"A live beneath of what your possibilities are"
That didnt happen because you are black.
That happens cause of network.
Amazing.Whats your email Jo walker?
Kindly I need a job abroad, what do I have to do...I'm currently in Kenya
12:58- 13:08: "Sometimes you may not be able to change your circumstances but you can change how you perceive, respond or act on those circumstances". Thank you Lynn for these stories.
Woow
This is what ave been trying to tell Africans, yelling or speaking aloud and aggressively is not a sign of strength or knowledge. If you have anything to tell people, say it in an articulate and intelligent manner so that people can understand, like this gentleman, I could listen to his intelligence and calmness all day!!
A very inspiring and motivating story.
Wachira you such a gem....Lynn ...keep giving us such interviews....Be blessed...Kudos!
So you are just low key insulting us.
"Intelligent and articulate manner" ...smh
Ooh! this man is so humble despite all the achievements he has made ,treating people right is the key to me
David is a special person. He epitomizes all that is admirable and good. God bless him and his wife as they make this world a better place. Thank you for this interview.
David is such an humble man yet so blessed. No wonder God blessed him with such a beautiful wife. This is quite inspirational
David's story is very encouraging❤️😍it's full of hope, hardwork and triumph! The role models we want for our young kids🙏
Wow wow this is so inspiring Lyn...am supposed to be aslp bt trust me ve decision to watch this till da end...God bless u
Was looking for your comment, wanjiru muya, you are a true fun of Lynn
I always beam when I get to see people interact with others without getting upset about small small things. David has a heart of gold.
Wisdom, intelligence, integrity, professionalism, and confidence from David are on another super level, thank you Lynn for bringing David - a real legend and his lovely wife. You are blessed.
Very inspiring
Very very inspiring. God bless the wachiras
Wow. Am loving this whole story, am inspired
"I'm who I'm because of the path I've walked through" 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾...inspiring interview right there!
David's testimony is an inspiration. It is true that you don't need to speak back to defend who you are. Simplicity and humility is the key here. Let your work and actions testify about u. God is the one who will lift u up at the right time. Thanks Lynn for this interview
Lynn I like your style. You give the interviewee time to share their stories without unnecessary interruption. Thank you for the great work
I loved this episode and just to say that David is such an inspiration in a generation where it is all about self, self, self, me, I, myself, etc. Even the Bible says that God uplifts the humble and brings down the proud. Lovely show Lynn.
What I have learned is that most educated African are very humble, kudos Dr David you are a big icon for the coming and current generation.
It is the third time I am watching this. The humility and inspiration exhibited are very educative, especially to young people. Bless you and your family, David!
I absolutely LOVE this interview! David is such an inspiration. Treat people with respect PERIOD!
Huyu ni real king David he's Soo smart , educated, brave and above all he's humble Soo dawn to earth.
I am in tears watching this most inspiring interview...thanks Sir Wachira for sharing your life with us and humanity. Ciao from Italy.
Your channel has changed my thinking for the better Lynn. Keep on inspiring us
🙏🙏🙏
"Then I wait for more orders" for making tea...this man!!! I love everything about him, very humble.
Are you a life coach?
@@oscarwaiharo Coaching is part of what I do, to help stressed professional regain or develop their confidence to move to the next level in their career/job, by upgrading their skills for interviews, presentations, meetings, handling job changes. Many times changing self- communication allows for more creative ways to deal with work challenges that can derail us. That's one reason why this interview resonated with me.
“Treat people with respect.” Hope people can learn something from this interview. Lynn good job. Keep soaring
Love this guy. He is so humble and down to earth.
The humbleness in this man.David you're so inspiring
...wow... how wonderful to hear Dr Wachira telling us all to respect each other..."period" irrespective of their colour, race, class... just respect all. Wonderful wife for supporting the community work they are doing in Kenya. Well done Lynn 💙👏
He doesn't need to tell black people this because blacks always worship other people and treat them better than their own....he needs to preach that to his white supremacists in-laws.
In Kenya tribalism is a killer. This is very mild.
Amazing story...Bless you guys ..Im originally from Nakuru...born 1955...in uk since 1967... proud of my birth country Kenya..wishing you all the best 👍
When i pray for Humility, God this is what i mean 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙆🏾♀️😫
I just love the humility that Dr David has, I can watch him all the time. He inspires me alot.
He has achieved so much but still so humble .His parents did a good job in educating them
I have loved this episode! God bless you David and family for your kindness to the youth in Kenya. God bless you Lynn for the amazing work you do. I am truly inspired. My mum once taught me that the watchman is just as important as the president, and this is one lesson that guides my life! Be kind and treat everyone with respect.
I don't get tired of listening to David or his father.
Thought provoking, Enlightening, Empowering is how'll I'll describe this session with David🙏my goodness, worth every single second
You can tell he has been raised very well and by a mother full of great wisdom 💯
Waaw amazing interview, Dr Waigwa his dad was my professor in university in Texas, indeed one of my favorite professors. DR David is like his Father. Great personality and humble.
God bless this wonderful family.
Thank you for your content.
Wow so inspiring story - what a humbling person .
I had the pleasure of interacting with David Wachira, his wife and amazing parents at Breeze Hotel, Nyahururu..at the reception. They are very humble and joyful people. God bless their generosity too.
What a humble and inspirational person Dr. Wachira is. Watching this ignited ambitions in me, this kind of humility is very rare. Bless you!
I love the fact that though he grew up in the US he has retained his accent
Epitome of humility, eloquence...pure inspiration! I watched a clip on him time back when someone asked him to serve him coffee....only for the guy to see David was the main speaker in the meeting they were both attending😏🤭
His humility n simplicity struck me so hard then n I felt so proud that he is my fellow countryboy...man😄😄
Cheers to you, David... you stand soo tall!!
You know, I love this Darling
Very inspiring episode. I finally see someone who understands the value of treating people with respect and upholding dignity for all. Thank you.
Great examples of how Diversity, Equity and Inclusion needs to be learned by all.
Hmmmm Congratulations to everyone involved in this story. WOW. Lynn, your team, Dr David, his wife Cecilia(my mother's name, by the way), & Dr David's entire family - Lynn, you've found carbon-copies of yourself - just as humble as you are. Fantabulously awesome. Well done everyone of you. 👏👏👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏🙏👐👐👐👐
This story has inspired me alot ....and made me change the way I perceive things ...imma change for the better
Humility is key😇
I am a finalist,,, this talk was done 2 years ago but it has really changed the magnitude of my life,,, i wish I met him in person,,, he is the definition of what I want to be in life. Congratulations Dr. Wachira.
i love this interview you could see David showing humility effortless.... what i taken from this interview is "you choose how respond "..........treat people with
respect because they are people "
Lynn, a great follow up would be an interview with David’s parents. We would like to see and hear from parents that raised such a humble and inspiring young man. “Treat everyone with RESPECT PERIOD.” I am so inspired. Thank you David for sharing your story. I definitely will be checking my unconscious biases.
oh my! this man David Wachira inspires me so much and especially for the fact that we are in the same career field, makes my hopes even brighter.I know i gonna have a testimony someday as you do.Thank you Lynn for bringing to us such men of impact.
Just from watching this interview and to be honest, have never seen such a humble person in my life,he puts his position down and assumes everything else around him to be just normal, someone else in his position would have maybe caused a commotion and made someone lose their job,I love his personality💯💯💯
Wow. Thank you Lynn for having Dr. David Wachira on your platform.
Thanks to Dr. Wachira for showing us humility and tolerance. Again one can only teach by example.
What an inspiration!
I feel so proud watching
Dr. David. I'm speechless. The man is brilliant. That's what excellence is all about.
As a mature black woman watching the interview I cannot find the words to express my feelings in this moment.
I guess I have to make a commitment to myself or make a decision to go back to school to finish my studies as Dr.David parents did.
Bye. Till next time. Watching from the States.
Waah make it happen by the grace of God.
This Guy's humility is out of this world! Mad respect Dr. Wachira. And many blessings to you and yours.
Am left with no words to describe David Wachira a part from “respect people Period “🔥
You are such a humble person Dr. Wachira. May God bless 🙌 the work of your hands. Proud to see a Kenyan like you changing lives. Watching from Indiana.
I never get enough of Dr. David's' interviews I might have watched all of them. I've been privileged to meet him in person the humility is baffling.
I nust admit...I just stumbled on this story. David Wachira is now officially in my bucket list of people to meet this year, so help me God. Very inspiring. Thanks Lynn.
I really appreciate you Dr David as a true human being. You have shown what true humility looks like. I've learned a lot from you today. It's a better story 😌 ☺ 🙂
David, keep teaching people. The world needs more David. Not to mention, your parents journey is also very encouraging
This dude! Amazing! I can listen to him all day. We need to get rid of these biases!
Awesome! Exactly my sentiment ... “treat everyone with respect and dignity”! One’s work does not define their humanity!
We usually use the term amazing human being so many times without really understanding what it means, Dr. David Wachira your humility is truly inspiring and you are truly an AMAZING HUMAN BEING
THANK YOU, LYNN NGUGI, FOR HAVING THIS BRILLIANT, ARTICULATE, YET HUMBLE YOUNG MAN ON YOUR SHOW! THIS GENTELMAN HAS THE 'WISDOM ON THE AGES' IN HIS HEART AND SOUL!! WHAT AN INSPIRATION HE IS TO ALL OF US, NOT ONLY THE YOUNG PEOPLE, BUT THE OLD AND 'OUT OF TOUCH' WITH THE CHANGING REALITY THAT IS TAKING PLACE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, TODAY!! I LOVE THIS WONDERFUL, PRECIOUS YOUNG MAN AS A SON THAT I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE AS MY OWN!! GOD BLESS HIM AND HIS DEVOTED WIFE AND SUPPORTER TO CONTINUE THE GREAT WORK THEY ARE DOING. THE SELFISH RICH AND POWERFUL, SHOULD LISTEN TO THIS CARING AND COMPASSIONATE YOUNG MAN AND ASSIST HIM IN MAKING THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR THE PRESENT GENERATION AND THE GENERATIONS TO COME!!
I believe in myself as a black woman. I am not limited to success. God bless David and his wife.
If theres one thing I have learnt from David always be humble no matter what position u are in especially here at home many people treat others badly for where they are I wish I had this humility
This man has a servant’s heart and God will use him mightily!❤️
David is such a humble man. I have really learnt a lot from this interview. Thank you Lynn & Dr.Wachira
I went to Kigari TTC with his dad Waigwa. He was a bright man and no wonder he has done well for him and the family.congrats David
From the depth of my heart, I love you, David. You have opened up more doors of humility than I thought ever existed. I now have more doors of humility to explore. Perhaps, I would meet with you someday in person.
