"Like The Wind/Check it in, Check it out/There's no Place." This Rendition of the song created in 1984, with Alvin Dean on lead vocals, Forward Music Quintet as the band, with Yannis Beltakis playing the guitar. They are all from Greece and could speak and know english very well. Song originally written and created in 1982 by Statues in Motion (I believe with slower guitar playing like in their song "Man in Black" and with no DX7 Synthesizer usage, of course), but left off their debut album. Demo of this song played on West German NDR2 Radio one time at the end of October 1984 by guest DJ Wolfgang Hahn. How he, the DJ, got the demo is unknown, but probably by Alvin Dean personally, who is said to have visited West Germany (Hamburg) for Oktoberfest in 1984, shortly before he returned to Greece... Then, disappeared from all recorded history.
Okay, they did some compilation demo tape with other artists, and I've listened to their demo song "Make Sure". Sounds nothing like this mysterious song. I think we can rule that one out as well.
@@CZghost Um No you can't. First off ALvin Dean is Defintely singing Vocals. His Freind and former Band Mate, Von Claus of Forward Music Quintet is on drums. That reggae/Ska Bass so emblamatic of 1979/1980 is being played by Billy Knight's former Band Mate of Parthenogenesis, while Natassa Streusberg is using the New DX7 she was able to by after earning good money having toured with New Order in Greece in late 1983. Lastly, The Twangy Guitar is being played By Greek Guitar soloist Yannis beltakis, former band mate of Billy Knight in the Greek Rock band 'Trash.' This song was made in Greece by Greek Artists who all knew each other. The Demo was to be the lead song for Forward Music Quintet's 1985 album, which got delayed becaue Alvin and Yannis Got arrested for Heroin possession. Still, EMI executives got ahold of the 'Like The Wind' Demo and managed to give it to NDR2 substitute DJ Wofgang Hahn and he played it on October 27, 1984. IF anyone eles out there wants to refute me go right ahead and provide your own theory, so I can question it. Go Right Ahead I am waiting!
Yeah, this theory of the song's origin rings true. The production/performance is not just some rank amateur demo. The piece was well crafted, well-rehearsed, and well performed. Too bad Alvin Dean or anyone involved in that performance hasn't surfaced yet to confirm it.
I've seen too many comments saying that the song is so and so. Here is what it's not. It's not statues in motion, It is definitely not "The sun will never shine" by num212, and it is 1982% not "Ride Like The Wind" by Christopher Cross. The song has not been found yet, and is still a mystery. If the song has been found, I will come back to this comment. Just letting people know.

@@johngarcia1340 wrong. if statues in motion made the song, then why hasn't anyone come out about it? I mean, I guess billy knight talked about it, but his evidence was very interesting when he talked about it even more. When Billy was first asked about it, he said no. But after a lot of messages, he suddenly says "Yes! That is our song!"??? Then, he claims that the song was made in 1982. Which is impossible because the main synthesizer used in the song, was the Yamaha DX7. A synth that wasn't released until 1983. Yes, Alvin's vocals sound very similar to the song, but go to any obscure song from the 80s, and you'll find the same answer. That kind of deep, echo-ish incoherent voice, was all over music in the 80s. Take "Strangers - Sinking Ships". That song was released around the very early 80s - late 70s. The vocals in that song, are arguably closer to TMS then Alvin. Also, if you take into account the veeerrrrry different genre Like the wind is, compared to the rest of the Statues In Motion album, there is no way that it was made by them. Most of SIM used a fake drum machine, and is mostly synth based. TMS however, is heavily guitar driven, using very real drums. For a band, to make a muuuch different sounding sone, and having to learn multiple different instruments, only to record one song, that you don't even put on the record, sound way to far fetched to me. I doubt its made by SIM. The only person who could really confirm, or deny this debate, is Alvin Dean himself. The man, who is even more mysterious then the song itself.
