    Yesterday my father-in-law visited. He is 79 years old and lately has some very serious pain in joints, hands, arthritis type. He told me that he was just told by his son that wild lettuce is said to be a very potent pain killer. Why didn't I remember? I am a "hobby herbalist", learning all the time, making tinctures and growing some plants myself. When I came across your youtube video explaining how to make this powerful pain killer, I set about making it myself using your method. You have to do it while the plants are available. I kept it in the fridge "for all eventuality" and so I gave my father-in-law some to try. I still told him that he has to take a relatively large dose to be effective. This morning I received the following message: (the previous night I understand he slept hardly any, if at all) "I would never have imagined the wild lettuce would be so effective. Got to sleep at about 8. Pain-free bathroom break at 2, pain free snooze till 6." (he took 6ml before going to bed) Wow! What great news to start the week with!
    I didn't powderize it as in your video but just kept it in liquid form. Because it has no alcohol as preservative I stored it in the fridge. I made it in January 21 and it is still good now after more than 1.5 years!

      @tzimmermann 6 лет назад +8

      @Emma forster Hi! I was answering Asis Samsuhang's comment. He talked about "boiling" stuff out of the equation, which I found funny and I just had to be sarcastic about it.
      I'm not a chemist myself (scientist nevertheless), but I did study it and practiced a bit. I can say that one must take good care in choosing the right solvent for an extraction job. Substances don't dissolve just because you want them to. A solvent will interact differently with a substance if it is protic (has a labile H+ ion, like water, which can self-ionize into an H+ ion that can go and protonize something else) or if it is polar (has a slight electric charge separation due to one atom or a group of atoms being more electronegative and displacing the electron orbitals towards them, like the oxygen in water).
      Terpenes in general have a tendency to precipitate in water (that's why drinks like pastis will become opaque when water is added). Sesquiterpenoids are a large sub-class of terpenes, from which sesquiterpene lactones form a significant subset. I don't have the experience to claim that none of them will dissolve in water (I think some of them will but only slightly, and heating the water will improve solubility but not much). Artemisinin for example just won't dissolve in water. And more to the point, the two active molecules from lactucarium (lactucin and lactucopicrin) look like they need an organic solvent to dissolve, maybe something aprotic (non protic) and non polar (or slightly polar). Historically, lactucarium from wild lettuce was conserved in alcoholic tinctures and syrups, I would argue that there was a good reason to it. I would desiccate the plant matter and use absolute ethanol for the extraction if I was to eat the product. DCM or chloroform could be better candidates otherwise.
      Hope I elaborated enough :)

    • @tzimmermann
      @tzimmermann 6 лет назад +2

      @Emma forster Have a great day too! But hey, it took me 10s google search tops to have a look at the molecules and reach a conclusion, and again, I'm no expert.
      If you truly wan't that lettuce juice, this video told you how to get traces of it (but you wouldn't know because she didn't measure any yield), I told you how to get all of it.
      All things in Nature are inherently complex, we can either ignore that complexity and design simple but inefficient / impractical / infeasible ideas, or dive in and do science. As a pragmatist I chose the latter option.

The world has been going through a veil thinning and I am a person that suffered from what the proohecy of the rapture describes as missing, vanished. I am still here waiting for GOD and Jesus but myself vanished and I temporarily had to suffer with being someone I'm not, while others falsely portrayed themselves as people they aren't. Love and Prayers from Him, through me, right now. You are precious in His eyes and always will be.
      We all have purpose, even if we tend to get lost in the woods now and then...or like me, constantly....lol.
      I'm just so happy I have Faith and nothing makes me happier than when I can share that with someone. It's the ONLY reason I care to draw breath, and believe that all I have suffered in my 54 years can somehow help someone who's struggling, hurting or feeling unloved.
      You are Loved more than anybody us will ever know, same as I , who is a nobody, homeless, estranged from the only family left living, and perpetually fighting addiction just to keep things interesting.
      But somehow, The Lord has been with me, and despite my willfulness to do things I know displease Him, He keeps loving me and accepting me as I repent, and I DO. Most likely keep making the same stupid mistakes...like He He knew I would before I was born, yet still He found me worthy of His Love and Forgiveness, just as He will for You.
      Not sure if this helped any, but it's my way of for once trying to be of service to my fellows, as He would have me do.
      My thoughts and Prayers go out to you and yours, and anyone else that happens to read this, it applies to them Too!

The scrape it off and cut a few centimeters down and repeat. Youd only need one plant, compared to multiple tops. And you can eat the leaves, since the import part is in the stalk.

    Remember before your harvesting the plant be sure to address the plant and thank him for allowing you or giving you that permission and when you give them thanks then they plant put extra good energy into their leaves or flowers or stems or branches or fruits and they're extra charged and to make you if you need to be healed or just feeling better I know a lot of people can't hear the plants and the trees communicating yet but you will it's just a good start to begin to address the plant before you take its parts off or dig it up because they do have feelings and they do communicate their living things they're full of life obviously they nourish us and animals and cause us to be able to live on and I speak to the plants and the trees I can since I was a little little kid I could do that so not so strange to me but there is a sadness and they do have feelings what I do know about them is they love to assist in the nourishing us and in providing light and life for other things they love that so they're usually very very happy about giving their light and energy up so that you can sustain yourself and when you start being able to speak to them they will actually guide you to what parts to pick or dig or where they can tell you a lot and trees too before you cut trees you should always address the trees tell trees love when people interact with them they love it and they all have different personalities so you find that out and how to interact with each one but they will tell you exactly how to trim them the best way in which to prune or trim that will not hurt them because they feel pain too they get hurt and they also get emotionally hurt by getting butchered just like we do when we are hair gets butchered or something you know something like that just trying to pass this on everyone's waking up to this and becoming more aware of the great spirit we're connected with so thanks for the vid and blessings to you and your family

    Lactucin is actually a strong agonist at the adenosine receptor- the same receptor caffeine antagonizes, adenosine is a waste product generated by neurons and other tissues as they consume energy, it's build up lets your brain know it is time to rest and breakdown/drain the waste of the day, I must admit I was skeptical of this plant, but there is definitely pharmacological evidence for it being a sleed aid, combining it with melatonin would closely mimic the natural state of tierdness. Not sure about analgesia but it could be.

I've worked hard to find alternative treatments for the patients I treat. There are many ways for each of us to treat ourselves if we simply look and give the effort. I wrote a book about my personal journey through fibromyalgia syndrome entitled "The Roses and the Oasis- Journey into healing chronic pain and fibromyalgia". I wrote it to give hope to the hopeless and healing where there was none. Hope doesn't have to stay in the future. Be of good courage. Cheers, Andrew H Knapp

      That was/ Is their whole plan. To lie and convince everyone that Weeds are bad and grass is good. And that can't be furthest from the Truth. We Cannot eat Grass, We are Not cows, deer, But We The People can Eat Weeds. I'm going to get rid of every blade of grass and turn my front back yard into Weed Factories. And We Must spread the Word.

    I would rather dehydrate the leaves and then grind up when dry. Much less mess that way!

      Heating and then condensing is what releases the medicine from the plant and makes it potent.

      She is wasting nutrients that are removed with the water. My dehydrator is a heater.
