As an owner of the same car the Eco is nowhere near as portrayed here. The stop/start can be controlled by the pressure you apply on the brake - zero issue at roundabouts or junctions...
Have you had an opportunity to try/drive the mk2/mk3 audi TT? I saw your review for the MK1, but not sure if you have tried the newer versions. I am considering selling my mk2 Audi TT and possibly buying a 2015 upwards SLK/ SLC. I'm also considering the mk3 TT, but not sure would the Mercedes be a nice change, especially with the hard top. Which did you prefer driving wise? Very detailed review, thanks!!
do you know, I think I prefer the TT, I find the TT handling to be excellent, and there's more legroom for the driver, SLK is great too having said that, its all down to personal choice, erm but still the TT
@@BarrieCrampton thanks so much! I've yet to test drive the SLK but will be test driving a 2015 SLK in a few days and will decide after. Reviews seen to be missed, so I'm interested to see if I actually would prefer the mercedes. Thanks!
Good review got my eye on one at the moment think you have convinced me to go buy it. By the way totally agree with the start stop system, I call it the death button.
Thank you so much, you will love it, great fun car. Like the "Death" Button, I think of it as a stop/delay/crash button as i am sure that it causes accidents when trying to get onto a busy round about
Hi Barrie, you’ve driven a lot of cars, this car, Z4 2.0is auto or tt roadster tdi. I’m 52, want a nice convertible that is fun but don’t intend terrorising country lanes. Think I prefer the looks of the Z4 but don’t relish the fuel economy, like the looks of the TT but at my age might look a bit of a pratt, the slk 250cdi looks like depreciation has hit a bit harder so probably presents better value. Any words of wisdom?
All good cars, i like the stability of the TT 4 wheel drive version, i like the room in the Z4 but not the drive if its fitted with run flats, best all round imho is the SLK depreciation isnt too bad, they hardly ever go wrong and with a diesel they are very economical too, we have 2 fantastic examples in at the moment an Slk and a Z4 www.ggcars.co.uk
Thank you for the really prompt answer, like you say all good cars. I’ll bear in mind your cars but my cash doesn’t come through until June though. Really enjoy your reviews many thanks
Bit late to the game seeing this review but you didn’t mention the hold system when your stopped. And you should have demonstrated it in sport mode as it’s a different car altogether wIth that engaged! No air scarf? big no no on SLK. Otherwise interesting review.
And the roof. No need for pano roof when you have a convertible, I like feeling cozy with the roof up. The pano takes that away. Horses for courses though.
Hi Barrie thanks for review I'm looking slk 250 diesel 2015 is this car economical on fuel ? I'm a normal driver and use town and motorway both how much miles per gallon 😊 ?? Thanks again mate
Digital Service History a waste of time?and a paper one is not lol, have to be stupid to lose a digital one it stays registered online, you should have a cardboard folder like yours to place the single sheets of paper into if you want too. Can also buy the Magic Sky roof option for around £2000:(
There are a lot of stupid people out there, and wven more stupid service receptionists who get it wrong then it cant be changed, and when we want to check our cars history and you ring the dealer over and over again to check it butbthey are too busy, or you ring the manufacturer and they tell you they cant give you it due to GDPR, or that mitsubishi and bmw just give a Dealer number so you have to ring them again to find out who the dealer is and their telephone number, basically if you had spent as long as i have done trying to authenticate a cars service history you would realise too that service books are best and digital history is stupid
Well, knock me down with a feather. Just had a test drive in one of these and was amazed by how crap it was. Not only did it feel somewhat cheap an tacky inside, it sounded like a herd of tractors. The diesel noise is totally ridiculous, even with the top up. How Mercedes have fallen from a quality car manufacturer. Probably sounds great if you're a farmer....
Really informative and interesting dialogue. Would like to have included the different performance experience between economy and Sport settings 👍
This could be my perfect mid life crisis car. Lovely
its a nice car, but if you are going to have a mid life crisis you really need the SLK AMG 55

It cant and it is
