Todays video is engraving a stainless steel Dog Tag
The laser I am using is the OMG-X 60W MOPA from
www.omglaser.c...
The dog tags were from
www.omglaser.c...
Lens used 150mm
Speed 50mms

Have a great day, any questions feel free to ask and also any pointers to improve my work too.
Very helpful!
Thank you, i look forward to discovering and sharing more
I would have loved to see these next to each other to compare. Good video! Please keep them coming.
best i have is this drive.google.com/file/d/19Ksmyc8j1lIY3Q9zRU6uj9ULf0RJJDOy/view?usp=sharing
Those look great!!! I've got a bag of those dog tags so I think I'll give it a shot !!!
my pleasure, look forward to sharing the results, mine can always be improved
Do you get the same effect if you on focus and less power?
Sounds odd to set a machine off focused.
Does the dot size increase then?? Or maybe its so little.
Good question, the offset was the solution to engrave well we say engrave but its not actually engraving the stainless steel, i believe it is just effecting the coating on top to make it black. It depends on the effect you wish to have on the steel engraving even at lower powers the lasers will char the steel. I basically discovered an acceptable image quality when i was making a marked black steel tag and forgot to offset the laser, so wanted to pass it on. Its a very fine line in power % where you will get no effect on the tag, to it burning a great big hole in it. A very informative channel is called SarbarMultimedia Russ goes indepth with the laser physics and the variables that change the quality of the beam, the punch of the power and its effects, quite fascinating.
