On the starting rotation front: Crochet Houck Buehler Bello Giolito Whitlock + Kutter to bullpen Kutter I think is a great 'spot start' guy when injuries happen or as Coley said slotting him in against teams with shitty lineups. Biggest issue remains how volatile the rotation is beyond Crochet... Houck has 1 year under his belt and wasn't the same guy in the second half as his innings climbed, Buehler coming off TJ, Bello is up and down, Giolito I think has to be in there just because of the $19M salary but Spring Training will be very interesting.
I remember the 2nd furbush interview, I asked if he was the first player to appear twice before debuting. The tweet blew up overnight while I was at work. Then I put the podcast on when I got home and right after the intro they mentioned my tweet. I damn near jizzed down my leg.
I'm confused. How does taking Devers off third instantly fix the problems with the infield? Devers is the least of the problems with the infield. The problems with the infield is that there hasn't been a solid everyday shortstop since Bogearts AND there hasn't been a solid everyday second baseman since Pedroia. THAT is the problem with the infield. Taking Devers off of third doesn't fix THAT. Story got injured because he stupidly jumped for a grounder that was absolutely pointless to jump for. The guy is a bonehead.
Moving Devers to DH moves the active leader in 3rd base errors out of our infield (141 errors in 8268.2 innings, Arenado, a possible replacement at 3rd, has 132 errors in 6000 more innings) and the move allows Devers to focus on hitting while staying healthier. I choose to look at Story’s effort on the play he got injured as our shortstop who is a leader on the team leading by example and putting his body on the line for the Sox, but that’s just me. I agree that moving Devers is not a quick fix for our infield, but regardless, replacing Devers with a gold glove 3rd baseman would undoubtedly make this team’s defense much better.
@@SpunkyBunk So you move your most productive player and heart of the team off third in which he doesn't want to do. So you have a disgruntled player who has to learn a new position which weakens him and the new position now to get Arenado. He is a declining overpaid guy who flamed out in St Louis a great and encouraging place to play into the snake pit of Boston and the east coast. Arenado's numbers were inflated in Colorado, he is a guy who has been declining each year out of Colorado. So now you have Raffy disgruntled and probably a year of regression due to that for a overpaid player and give up some prospects on top of it. Arenado/Bregman moves are how we got Story and Yoshida. Reactionary moves after failing with better opportunities. It would be typical wrong moves made by this team to show they are doing something. Their best options are all gone, dont double down by making foolish moves on top of it. This team is done. Just play out this year and hope for some luck finding players and making smaller moves to improve slightly in other areas. Taking on 3 years of Arenado or 6-7 with Bregman are just going to keep this mess of a team, not help. Lets get guys who are declining to big contracts so they can join Story on the sidelines this year. But also move either people on the team or these guys to new positions and weaken those also. No this team is a bad team, lets just move forward and get this year out of the way and hope better players can be had this year. Though with this ownership it really doesn't matter. This is a bad situation that isnt going to be better for awhile now.
@@TheEWFX29 Grissom was hurt all year and Hamilton was forced to play half his games at shortstop. Once healthy at the end of the year, Grissom’s bat looked good, and hamilton is a terrific 2B especially if he can keep a ~90ops+.
@@astralflick Grissom hasn't done anything in years. Why do you think the Braves dumped him and Hamilton is a bench player at best. The only hope is that Campbell can do something. But the Sox putting these rookies in a tough situation of having to be a star player and having to really contribute when they come up shows the poor planing and bad roster makeup this team has. The pressure that is put on these players is why a lot of them fail. They dont have time to get acclimated, they are immediately starters thrown in mid season and have a fan base look to them to be big players also. They cant get used to the majors and its changes to the games speed and talent level. They arent used to the travel and fan interaction and the media interactions. Some of these guys are in their mid 20's and its sometimes too much and they end up failing. This is the situation the Sox are putting on these players. They should have a solid team around them to help them get themselves used to the rigors and expectations there is in big league baseball. This is going to be a bad year. On this current team a lot of these guys are going to regress. So many players that dont have experience or the know how to move forward. Duran is definitely going to regress as will Abreu and Hamilton. A lot of these guys are going to start posting a more average result. Its going to be like last year. They are a bit better pitching wise but much weaker offensively.
This team is in big trouble. They dont have anything but middling prospects and it seems like that's all they will have. I think Anthony will be the good one but I dont see Mayer being much. Besides being hurt he isnt going to be much of an offensive player. This is going to be a lousy year. I actually think its going to be the start of the real decline for this team. Already a lot of players dont want to be here but now that they arent going to pay anyone their chances of picking up players is going to be nonexistent. Welcome to the Orioles, Brewers, Mariners dead zone. No significant moves, no players staying after their contracts expire, no destination for big free agents. Just a middling team that makes a half hearted attempts to make the playoffs. Its sad, and the fans will still buy tickets. We used to have discerning fans that challenged management and wouldn't support half assed teams. But now these clowns throw money at this team and dont hold management or the team accountable. This is going to be a nice summer of not worrying about losing streaks and players regressing or not being very good. Done with this foolishness.
@ He has a lot of shit takes because he’s overly negative about the team, it’s what his show does and it works in Boston. He is actually pretty knowledgeable about the team. At least he’s not just saying the same shit everybody else is saying.
@benl9775 i like the baseball hour listen every day. The only take that really pisses me off is his Duran take. Mazz says the Casas doesn't want to be coached and works on specific things that might come up once in a season instead of the fundamentals. He is a primadonna, and his pregame routine grates on everybody's nerves, especially when he isn't producing. He struck out looking way too much. This is a little bit of what Mazz said last season, but he made a lot of good points.
I love Coley, but he does act like his takes are automatically better and smarter than anyone else’s. That “Pay Houck to be a closer” was legit one of the dumbest ideas I’ve ever heard…how does taking your second best starter and making him a closer (and just hoping he’s fine with that and that it works) a good idea at all? Why are we trying to make Kutter a guaranteed starter lol
Take a drink every time you hear “hypothetically”
What's another word they could use lol
Clean 40 boys. Well done.
My favorite is when Jared will hear a joke and then he’ll just repeat it in a slightly different way immediately after
This show rules so much. Good job, boys.
Steve being pumped about a Buzz Lightyear action figure in his 30s is very endearing and relatable lol

Did Coley really call the Diamondbacks like that?
He sure did.
Dan Perrault has won a Peabody award alongside his many Perrault of the Week and Perrault of the Year trophies.
Love the Correa for Masa trade Steve! Make it happen
Damn Coley killed the Burns signing 🤯
Yoshida is a great hitter.
I still believe in Vaughn Grissom
Clean 40
The Danley Cup would be pretty cool
Any of these guys ever hear of Jared Kelenic. Stop acting like Campbell might not be a bust. You never know until they are up in the majors.
Put some respect on Yoshida's name 😭
He's had some great hits with the Red Sox!
Ok boom

Who tf is Tyler (first time checking this channel out)
Why has no one edited Dan Perrault's wikipedia page to add the 84 POTW awards
Don’t make fun of Tyler’s health
Nice, a clean 40 for once.
Millibars is doing a shit job of selling the Yoshida talk. He had a goofy smile the whole time.😅😅😅😅
Bobby Dalbec. Bobby. Dalbec.
Nomar 1/1?!?!
Facts like why can't you talk about that?
Tight 40
Jake gets some facial hair and ages 30 years
Gotta love a quick 40
