Finally another Canadian book seller. I sell mainly Textbooks. Buy for 10$ sell for 100-300$. ROIs is insane. Will be full time in 6 months. I also do RA for beauty but my Textbooks sales cant be beat.

I am trying to figure out how much per month you are spending on subscriptions (Scoutly, Scanlister, Amazon Seller Central, keepa, etc) and also what you think is necessary to subscribe to, mainly at the beginning? I am guessing once things are rolling spending 120 per month on apps and subscriptions works its way out. I am also curious, if you remember, what your first huddles were at the start? I am presently looking at lots of videos and i have purchased a few small items ( Printer, labels and barcode scanner) and I have also purchased a bunch of books already. I was about to sign up on Amazon Seller Central for FBA, but wanted to know if you created a second account to sell items on amazon seller central. Or if you had a better chance to get the buyers box/ button. etc if you used your existing amazon account. Thanks and sorry for all the questions lol
@@Tommydis you’re right. In the beginning the monthly costs seem a little daunting, but they pay for themselves eventually. I think you’re in the right track. You might be starting off in the red, but eventually things will even out and pull begin to see things come around. I created a separate Amazon account for my seller account. It just makes sense to separate your business from your personal. Unfortunately user your existing account has no effect on gaining buybox eligibility. The only sure thing that we know is a must, is selling on a professional account. I gained buybox eligibility pretty quickly. I think my first month. I did however, go from 0 to a 100 in my first month and doubled down on it. Best of luck!

@@shastinehudson8375 Scoutly states that you cannot use two phones simultaneously on one account. For this, my partner and I have two separate Scoutly accounts so that we can scan at the same time. Mind you, I’ve never actually tried using two phones on one account…🤔
Perhaps I missed it in the video, and my apologies if so, but why are you scanning all the books with a fob but some you pull out and scan with your phone? How do you determine which you purchase as I see you aren’t buying all you scan.
@@kimkempel hi there. Sorry for the late reply. I used a Bluetooth scanner for the barcodes on the back of the books. However, some books, mostly older books, don’t have a barcode, and instead only display the book’s ISBN. For these, you have to use your phone and switch to the OCR scanning function. To figure out what to buy or not, I base my decisions on whether or not the app says it’s a good buy, and by analyzing the information provided. Sometimes good buys come out as Decline.
Are you involved in arbitrage or FBA? Do we need a business license to sell books? Can we sell books on Amazon without approval? What methods do you use? If you don't mind, could you please provide some information on this?

However, I quickly realized that sort of schedule wasn’t sustainable, considering that I have a full time day job, and have a daughter and partner at home. So, I cut my sourcing down to perhaps twice a week. My volume isn’t as high, but it allows for better work life balance. If I wasn’t already working during the day, I might source every day. The amount of stores I’ll go to largely depends on the amount of time I have. On a Saturday, I might scan 3-4 stores. But during a weekday, 1-2.
So I’ve found a few books that were green and had no sales score and decided not to buy it. Am I missing profit ? I get scared to buy when there’s no sales score. I also don’t buy books that Amazon is on. What’s your advice on this ? Thank you for all the answers ! Love your content
@@lindsie101 I think when you’re first starting out, it’s best to avoid those. You made the smart decision of not buying them. There are instances where no sales score books are profitable, but it takes deeper knowledge. Keep it safe at first!
@@lindsie101 totally missed the part about books that Amazon is on. Here’s my opinion: I think, if the profit is there, buying books that Amazon is on is perfectly fine, for a few reasons. The first, is that Amazon for the most part only sells new books. As a used book seller, as long as your books are price below Amazon’s new price, you’re fine. Think of it this way. Would you buy a used book for more money than a new one? Secondly, If Amazon is on the listing, this tells me that the book has at least some value to sell, or else why would they bother stocking it? Furthermore, when Amazon is selling a book, and then it goes out of stock, this presents an opportunity to third party sellers like us to increase the price of a used copy for more profit. I’ve seen some books shoot up way past new pricing in these instance and still sell, just because the demand is so high. So, don’t be afraid to buy books with Amazon on the listing. This shouldn’t affect your buying decisions. Instead, think of it as a good sign. A sign that the book has traffic, and sales history. Just make sure your used price is below the new price, yet still competitive enough for Buy Box eligibility. If you’re not there yet with the Buy Box, just keep your profit margin in mind when pricing. Hope this helps!

The larger your inventory, the greater your sales volume. If you had let’s say, 30 books for sale, you might see one sale every month or two. @@thelyonex hi! I do not use custom triggers. I’ve always used the default triggers. That being said, I like to keep an eye on the screen during scans to make sure I’m not missing something the default triggers could possibly ignore.
@@thelyonex are you taking advantage of their 20% coupons which you get whenever you donate something? It’s a must. Also, they have a max spending limit of $50 each coupon. When you go, get several coupons and break up your books into multiple purchases under $50 to get the most out of the coupons. I’ll grab free books that won’t sell for anything and use those for my donations.

If you’re serious about selling and making income from this, a professional account is a must have. When I first started, I went from buying and sending 50 books a week. I quickly went up to 100 books a week after my first month. Now I buy and send about 150 books per week. Good luck!
