Nothing at all to do with the arrangement or performance, which are faultless, as always, but as a musical dinosaur I really appreciate the fact that Jonathan plays from paper copies of his music! I'm so glad he's not, as yet, been tempted down the e-route!! I've seen so many fellow musicians come a-cropper with frozen screens etc etc etc!
@@organbuilder272 Not easy to do when you are juggling four to six keyboards, 3 octaves of pedals, a combination of anywhere in the region of 1 to 125 million stops (most of which would be unplayable but could be selected by error), swells and decays with overall volume control by pedal and master buttons . . . Well you get my point that there is so much going on and so to prepare for it the Artist needs more than the notes of the music. Moreso he needs his basic performance notes, which are cues to anticipate those stop changes to alter the timbre or sound of the notes. But you will notice Jonathan has everything all on one page, even for a long piece of music. And, notice that Jonathan never needs a page turner, nor do you ever see him touch his paper while playing during a video. Jonathan is a pretty amazing artist. (As an aside, the legendary organist Virgil Fox recorded a live performance of one of Bach’s most famous fugues, and video subsequently shows that he did not use notes. About half of the way through he forgot where he was and went way off track, eventually finding his way back to a point where he could progress to the end. Even for a master like Fox, at the peak of his artistry, disaster can strike in an organ recital without notes.)
@paulbinns9375 Carlo Curley was recording another Marche Militaire and keychanged himself into a corner. He vamped for a good 20 seconds until he found a way out, worked his way down to the original key, and his Whoop! Of joy is clearly heard. He remarked to me that he was a couple of bars away from giving up and raising his hands from the keyboard in surrender when he saw a door open as if by magic. He keychanged down to the original and finished with a typical Carlo Cecendo. Boy, do I miss him.
It's a perfect meeting of geniuses: an ancient and wonderful composer with our incredible organist under the camera of another genius: Tom! Thank you both for this beautiful video!
Great stuff Jonathan and Tom. Lovely music and its wonderful that despite being an international concert organist of repute you have not forgotten your roots and take us to unknown churches in the small towns of 'the North' and with great pipe organs that are loved and cared for.
Once more registration perfect for this organ, yet another organ manufacturer, with a different array of stops and beautiful pedal sounds, thanks once more for a lively performance , and also thanks to Tom for the technical performance.
If you were a painter Jonathan, you used every single colour on the palette with this dynamic and flawless performance as always. Tom, no one should forget your tremendous sound, film and support. I love when you both play duets!😊
Whenever these fine gents post a new video and it starts to play I like the video as you are zooming in to the church before the music starts because I already know it’s gonna be good no matter what they are doing , perfect example is here , this is a new piece I’ve not heard before and now after seeing and hearing it in such a way I now have another piece to appreciate, even those that I do not have a taste for at first grow on me and I love it , Thank you both Johnathan and Tom for educating me and broadening my musical spectrum and helping me to appreciate such a masterful art
Oh dear, I am compelled to comment, again! This piece of Schubert is magnificent and performed excellently 👌 I sometimes wonder if we'll have something like a church organ in heaven? Absolutely heavily! Thank you ❤
Love your rendition and arrangement of Schubert's Military March for the organ. Those big trumpets and the 16 foot trombone/pousane is something and yoy used them well Jonathan.
What a great match of instrument to composition and arrangement ! The timbres are so open and woody that this organ is the perfect substitute for a military band with all its clarinets and woodwinds backed up by the brass when needed. Of course I think Jonathan’s skillful arrangement makes a difference. 😊 ❤. Thanks to both of you for such a satisfying experience. A great way to start a day. Hey I think I’ll use it as my alarm clock ⏰ wake-up sound. Do you mind ?
I have heard this piece before on a Douglas Reeve LP, played on the Brighton Dome, Hill, Norman & Beard organ. I would like to hear Jonathan play this organ, maybe it will happen one day.
Schubert is difficult and not necessarily harmonious, he was the punk of his time, but thanks for the upload, dear Johnathan! You have to be able to put up with Schubert somehow. He just has something of the sleazy kids of his time. He was, quite simply, a poor composer, a wannabe artist who wouldn't be thrown a euro in his hat these days.
Just imagine, all those pipes were looking forward to a nice quiet Saturday night gathering dust, and then this happens!
Great music and fantastic organist !
That was fun! Thank you both.
Love this perky toe tapper! The bass sounds tremendous on this organ. Thanks for sharing. 👏🥁👏🥁 🎹🎶
Fantastic Jonathan!😊👍👏👏👏
Beautiful playing.
I have the urge to skip along to the music. What fun. Thanks to both of you. xx
Wonderful arrangement for organ & as usual well played. Glad it is in a Methodist Church as I'm a Methodist.
The registrations are so spot on! Not to mention the faultless playing. Thank you and encore Maestro!

Better yet, memorize the notes on paper and then play the music .

Seems a massive organ for the space, I love it!
Marvelous! So upbeat, and the arrangement is terrific! Spirited performance by Jonathan, and beautiful audio & video recording by Tom, of course!

Cheerful and pleasant music to listen to. Thanks. I loved! ❤🎶🙌👍🎶😘

Wonderful! Thanks Jonathan & Tom 🎹🎶💕💕🎶🎹
Thank you Jonathan and Tom for another enjoyable rendition of a favorite piece!
Love this ❤ Well done indeed!
There is just something about a church organ that speaks to my heart and soul
Haven’t heard this piece of music in a long time …thank you it’s so jolly!

Perfection as always from Jonathan, but he's conditioned us to expect nothing less. BRAVO

What a lively piece! Beautiful church and fantastic organ. Thanks for sharing your music Jonathan and your audio/visuals Tom. You two are the best!!

Was there (birthday boy) Absolutely breathtaking.
Bravo très beau morceau les jeux sont très bien choisis 🎹 ❤❤❤😂😮impressionnant
Magique superbe merci Mr Jonathan Scott 👍👏👏👏👐💞
Such amazing sounds. Fantastic arrangement as always. Love your playing. ❤
Well played. One of my favorite pieces.
Fantastic as always Jonathan. Thanks so much for sharing.
This is the most fun I've ever had at a funeral. In fact, Jonathan Scott puts the 'fun' in 'funeral.'
Wonderful to see these old municipal organs. And wonderful to watch and listen to another performance. Thank you 😊😊😊😊
This is a church organ!
@@DiegoLiger ok. Looks like a municipal organ. Sorry
I used to play this piece (which was a piano duet) with my father, when I was a kid. Very interesting to hear (and see) Jonathan's take on it.
Man that is just fantastic
Wonderful arrangement. I learned this as a 4 hands version on the piano. I played primo.
My favourite piece :D
Really love this one! I played this organ in 2004 when we visited North Yorkshire on holiday. A very impressive organ i remember😊

Znakomite wykonanie.Nogi same maszerują.
Up to 2010 I played this organ at various functions. It looks as if the console has been rebuilt? I remember much physical registration changes!
Nice to hear the Celesta.
Only heard this once before on a Carlo CD, played at the RFH.... All thats missing is the giant "whoop" from the console
Wonderful to see a new organ by an organ builder totally unknown to me.
New? It was built in 1923/24. Yes from the video it looks very smart and quite new looking - likely has had a recent rebuild.
Biggs on the pedal harpsichord; Scott on the organ.
Two great takes on this great composition.
😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
I love how it partially sounds like circus music
👍🤗💎🍀🌸😍
👏👏👏
I think you should play the final count down

The organ is good, but I prefer the original. by Schubert. I still admire Jonathan Scott and his brother.
Schubert wrote it originally for duel players on piano. Jonathan arranged it for the organ.
Five days till Thanksgiving!
Красивая музика єта!!! Токкату 538 дорическую Баха давайте,она великолепная!!! Александр Одессит.
L'orgue c’est bien, mais je préfère l'original. de Schubert . je suis quand même admiratif de Jonathan Scott et son frère.
Something sounds wrong with the "A" and "D" about 2:53. Maybe just my ear?
