8ulls3y3 - I have to admit I was very surprised how quickly Logan aged, considering it was only a little over 10 years after X-Men Days Of Future Past. Like what happened?
Dennis Murphy true, but this was probably the most realistic futuristic movie out there, self driving cars are already a thing and the farming stuff could easily happen in years, most future movies have like time machines and other unrealistic crap

Logan a 10 out of 10 Masterpiece The Wolverine 8 out of 10 it's not as bad as a lot of people think it is. I still enjoyed it and it is on my top 5 favorite X-Men movies.
Why logan is the best superhero movie ever made: First , the cinematography is very new to such material and it felt like an indie movie , and when the camera used to move slowly into the characters it had this weird creepy suspenseful feeling to it , and lets not forget the farm use scene at the beginning , absolutely astonishing. Second , this must be the best character driven movie since the dark knight but the problem (in my opinion) with the dark knight that it had too many of them , do not get me wrong they were all fleshed out pretty well but still was not as satisfying as seeing three main characters try to interact and get to appreciate one another through a deadly and tragic cat and mouse chase. And we also got to see a broken logan , a mentally ill Charles xavier , and a kid so broken she did not say a word till the last 30 minutes , now that is depressing and all but so fucking fresh. Third , the performances in this movie is fan fucking tastic from patrick stewart who undeniably gives one of the best performances I have seen in a long time and his best but also hugh jackman , i cried alot of times in this movie because when he did something that feels tragic i lost it because i grew up watching his character from x men 1 to x men days of future past so seeing him pull off such performance filled with deep and clear motivation was so great , and by the way i liked callibean although he was kind of shoe horn in , i really thought that stephan merchant made this character look very realistic not the greatest but pretty good , dafne keen was also fantastic but liked her character more than her performance just because she was not really given that much to act till the last 30 minutes which I thought was great but the scene at the end with logan made me fucking weep like a baby. The villains performances was good but i thought they could have been better if their characters was better but it does not really matter since its about the three heroes interactions with one another. Fourth , the action is outstanding and unbelievable, i feel like that opening scene with wolverine is kind of overlooked and not talked about enough because i got chills watching it . Well choreographed , fast paced , and gory (very gory) action made this movie so much better for me , and about x-24 , he creeped the fuck out of me seeing him beside the old wolverine. My favorite part was the beginning action scenes . Last but not least , the soundtrack was amazing till the third act where it got a little jumbled but from beginning to end i was blown away with this kind of western / sad music and lets not talk about old man logan ost which is so emotional and thats nit a choo choo which is so suspenseful and creepy. Note:They chose very good settings for he movie especially the farm house. Overall it ranks first for me and then the dark knight
Great video, Logan is easily one of the best superhero movies of all time. Nice stabs at Nostalgia Critic. His "review" was such bullshit, left me wondering if he even watched the movie.
this is such a great comparison, when I finished watching it I thought wow I agree with everything you said then I realized the lack of Subscribers you had and was shocked you didn't have more considering the great video quality, keep it up
If you want to get realllyyyy technical with it, aren't there 3 wolverine movies? X-Men Origins (it wasn't really and xmen movie, they just smacked the title in it) The Wolverine Logan
i actually watched alot of animated wolverine shows when i was young, now that im older and seeing an ageing wolverine bad tempered, weary, serious, covered in scars and war hardened it really feels like i grew up watching and knowing wolverine or Jimmy as i like to call him
I personally like Wolverine more than Logan, don’t get me wrong I love Logan the characters is just so amazing and x-23 is the best but the reason why I like wolverine is that it’s the first time I see wolverine after that I became such a big fan of the character. I read a lot of comics I watched a bunch of movies
Eric, if it helps, Rob Walker, Doug's brother, is also as baffled as you regarding to Doug's treatment of Logan. For me, personally, Logan is my new favorite comic book movie of all time. I like it more than The Dark Knight, Civil War, Wonder Woman, Richard Donner's Superman and his cut of Superman II. And still, I love watching Nostalgia Critic episodes, and Doug's vlogs. Why? Because I love his style, the way he explains his opinions, and I trust him. I know, from reading your comment from his Non-Review of Transformers The Last Knight, that his review negatively affected your opinion on him and his reviews, but I wouldn't say he's untrustworthy. He's been critical on movies I've loved before(Iron Man 3 being a big example), and I still trust him to voice his opinion on movies I haven't seen before. He even inspired me to give back my DVD of Michael Bay's Pearl Harbor(which is just awful), and even helped me gain a certain mindset of what I really want out of movies nowadays. I don't think your a jerk for hating on his opinion, but I wouldn't let it be the deciding factor of how to judge him and his reviews from now on, because that is incredibly petty. P.S. Also, do you really need to hate on the Marvel Cinematic Universe so much? I get that your not a fan, but come on...
man just find your channel and I have to say I LOVE IT its the videos are made so well and if I dont really agree with u thanks to your explenetaion I can understand why u have that opinion Im sorry if I have a bad english
even though I was 12 watching this movie I cried so hard in the end and I just walked out the theater with a red face, and my favorite scene was when logan said to xaviar it wasn't me!!!! when x-24 stabbed him in the chest, and seeing that gave me a jump, and this movie was perfect
Dragonfirestudios 233 nice, I feel like the most impactful moments was when Charles was like "I'm sorry, im so sorry" when he had the seizure at the casino, and when Laura called him daddy
+Dragonfirestudios 233 Agreed. The movie was awesome and I don't see any other comic book movie from this year and the next taking its place. Thanks so much for watching and commenting buddy!
There was SOME future stuff, like the auto trucks and the bad guys having guns for hands (I get they're like that in the comics). But there shouldn't be a ton of futuristic stuff, it's only 12 years in the future
I agree that Loki is not exactly a villain. He is more like "chaos personified". He is anything he wants to be, which makes him such an interesting character to me.
If you think THIS video is one of the best you've seen. Then check out my more recent versus videos. I am proud to say that they have gotten significantly better over time. Thanks for watching and commenting!
The director, James mangold, said that he didn’t want the movie to look futuristic...he said that he wanted it to feel more gritty and in the middle of nowhere...he didn’t want it to be a world with high technology, as he just wanted it to be a world that hasn’t changed.
Just because a movie's set in the future doesn't mean it has to look futuristic. People living in the 1960's had that same sentiment about the year 2000 and onwards, and look at us today; no flying cars, no jet packs etc. If it was set a hundred years from now, I'd personally not be surprised if nothing was different.
The only part I appreciated in the Wolverine movie was the yakuza fight at the funeral and the ninja fight at the Yashida mansion (R version of course because of the blood and the added fight scene)
Logan did have futuristic technology...there was the auto trucks before the family with the horses crashed, then later the big robot things in the corn fields aswell as the reavers' bionic limbs, but it made sense not to show much of it since it's not set too much in the future (only about 12 years) and most of the film is set in rural locations
Well the movie does have some new technologies that we don't have but will have soon like self driving trucks and massive automatic farms, plus somewhat sci fi limb replacement
Nice review, Eric. But I must say, with respect (and as a fan of the Wolverine comics pre 2000) The Wolverine was actually a movie that fans would enjoy more than non-comic book readers (for the most part, anyway, there was NO excuse for a means to EVER cut adamantium. EVER!). And Wolverine Origins was very faithful (again for the most part) to the Weapon X story, and most especially the Wolverine Sabretooth relationship. However, I will agree with anyone, that the "Deadpool" interpretation was probably it's greatest flaw/sin. That and I personally think that Gambit's character could have used a little upgrade (but that's just me). Despite these flaws mentioned (amongst others that both movies possess), it's safe to say that no comic book movie can ever be 100% like the comics and still be good (be it outfits, plot points, etc.) I considered both movies to be very close to the comics (yes, even with the love interests (which had purpose and are very iconic in the entire Wolverine canon)) and what personal complaints I have I already mentioned. That said, I can respect your review, as well as your point of view and preferences. You always make great vids, mate, this is just my two cents from my own point of view. Cheers to good movies, brother ;). Looking forward to your next vid. Again, great job.
+Jon D I. An understand your view point. The relationships I know ARE important and hold a lot of weight in the comics. It's just that in the movie's paticularily with The Wolverine, they ended up being sidelined and ignored which ultimately made them feel pointless in the movie's interpretation. I'm glad you like my videos buddy. :) Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Speaking of awesome movies like Logan, have you seen Children of Men? That film is an absolute masterpiece and the best science fiction I have personally seen so far this century.
Logan is arguably the next great superhero movie that nearly everybody (but not really everybody obviously) will remember fondly for years; the wolverine is basically what Logan eventually became but never could because of the studios and the lack of a good Deadpool movie and real reason to do so.
I really agree with that shade toward the nostalgia critic, he seems so only enjoy classics too, always hating on remakes. (A lot of remakes don't do well but he rarely gives them a chance)
My top 5 superhero movies. (my personal opinion don't hate haha) 1. The Dark Knight 2. Logan 3. Hancock 4. Avengers: Age Of Ultron 5. The Dark Knight Rises
Dude, I know that it’s been a while since the dark knight rises came out...like 7 years, but I would actually enjoy sitting through a dark knight trilogy comparison. Because I think that it would be a cool video idea.
here is how I think Marvel Studio should continue the story, don't recast Logan make him stay dead and make X23 take the mantle as the All New Wolverine. Just like in the current comics!
I agree with many of the points regarding Logan and The Wolverine movies Eric. For me, The Wolverine felt underwhelming and boring. I enjoyed and loved Logan vastly more. Thank you very much for this video Eric, I really enjoyed hearing your view on them.
Logan's healing ability didn't slow down because of his age. It was because the adamantium was steadily poisoning him, though that's the most illogical sh*t ever, considering his cells regenerate almost instantly, but okay. Also, you may be tired of Wolverine being in love, but the thing that defines the Wolverine mythos is tragedy; the loss of the people he trusts & loves. He will undoubtedly outlive just about everyone he ever loves, which adds to his pain and fuels his RAGE. His love for Charles & Laura is what made him become the Wolverine again, in "Logan". He literally fought to the death, to protect the last person that he loved. Whether it was a romantic love, the love of a surrogate son for a surrogate father, or the love of a father for his daughter, Wolverine's story is all about fighting for what he loved.
Yk what I wish they made a film called Logan Vs The Predator just like AVP except it’s wolverine fighting the predator which would be rated R due to being a horror with blood and gore and language obviously
I remember giving it a 6 when I first saw it in theatres. But after watching it the second time I gave it a 5. I saw Logan twice and I came away with the same 9/10 both times. Thanks for watching and commenting Eddie! I really appreciate it.
10:35 our present day technology? The villain who tried to capture Laura had a half arm being robotic and it was fully functional which is not possible in 2023 so imagine in 2017
What do you think guys? The Wolverine would've been better if they moved on from Jean's love story, no Viper, Mariko's grandfather actually dead, no Silver Samurai and no ex boyfriend of Mariko. So that will keep it at a small scale and give room for the important characters to shine. Like Logan, Yukio, Mariko, Mariko's corrupted husband and Shingen Yashida. just five characters that can shine through. Less is more. For example of what could make the Wolverine better: - If Logan moved on from Jean, his motivation in the film would be a bit clearer and us as the audience would root for him a bit more Premise: A Japanese soldier during the Nagasaki bombings in his dying days, gives the reluctant Logan a job to protect Mariko from the Yakuza, Ninjas and her father who prevents her to take her place from her company. (It's simple) - If Shingen was the main villain, he would be seen as a barrier of honour, just like in the Wolverine comic solo series. He is the reason why Mariko cannot takeover Yashida after her grandfather died. - I think the idea with Logan struggling with the beast conquering over the man which Mariko hates but Yukio wants him to embrace. If they play that a bit more, Shingen could've used that as his advantage. Putting choices like the Joker did in the Dark Knight. The greater the pressure, the more of Wolverine's character being defined - No taking away the healing factor. Seeing Logan's vulnerability is interesting but it's better to explore the humanity of him just like in the film Logan did. - An R rating in the Japanese story would make the film better. Not because of the slicing/dicing but I feel like if Mangold really wanted the Japanese noir/samurai film with superhero characters is the way to go. The Yakuza and ninjas are ruthless to be PG 13 - Speaking of that, the fight scenes could've been a bit longer and a bit more meaningful to the point that you worry for the character like in the film Logan. The stakes will be high personally. - Finally, if only the third act matches the tone of the film and not make it an X-Men movie, the film would be much better. Fight against the ninjas and Yakuzs a bit more. Have a sword fight against Shingen. Logan winning Mariko's heart and wants to marry him. Yukio finally walks free from the ninjas.
i dunno the topless scene was just sorta... because but it was a nice little comedy moment of how wolverine would react. i mean he is a full time limo driver. he can't just claw drunk passengers.
Logan felt like how The Wolverine was trying to be. The Wolverine would have been R as well, but sux stud- I mean Fox studios called it off. Hugh Jackman even had to take a pay cut to get this movie R rated.
Literaly LOGAN has ben the only marvel movie thats about a fictonal character brought to our world with our sences and emotions and is literali the definiton of GREAT you would want in an R reated and (especialy) *The Wolverine*
Not gonna lie I just watched Logan and in my opinion it was more fun to watch than the dark knight. I’m not saying the dark knight wasn’t fun it just sometimes felt slow but this was an awesome film
How does your channel not have at least 100,000 subscribers already? you're content is very good. I also agree with you I think Logan is an amazing movie! I do think the nude scene in the movie was unnecessary though.

@TJP 123 what did he say? I swear if he shitted on this movie...
If logan was pg-13 it would have been trash in my opinion , they did a good job making it R rated

There were a couple of futuristic elements, as driverless freight cars and the crop equipment on the farm both come to mind.
Exactly. It's only 10 or so years in the future, I really think that aspect was handed really well.

casual complaints no Wolverine woke up in the 70’s in one scene
Logan is a masterpiece, but if only the song of the credits was "Hurt" By Johnny Cash, I would've given it an 10/10 but no movie is ever a 10/10

Logan is The Best X-Men film. Period
And the best superhero movie ever with the dark knight
7:25 and 12:34 In Deadpool 3, Wolverine is resurrected
Fun fact just like Harley Quinn and Batman Beyond X-23 made her first appearance in a cartoon
I DONT CARE ABOUT SPOLIERS
The wolverine 8/10
Logan 10/10

The best thing about The Wolverine is the deleted scene where we see the comic accurate Wolverine suit
Do Avengers 1 vs Avengers 2
+Henry Reinoso How about Justice League VS The Avengers?
I need to get this of my chest it’s a cliche to have future tech in movies
Logan *does* have a prominently featured love interest; it's just not romantic love. His love for Laura (X-23) shines throughout the whole story.
It's a father daughter love
Wonder what the film would like with Beast instead of Plot Connivance Man
Just because a movie's set in the future doesn't mean it has to look futuristic. People living in the 1960's had that same sentiment about the year 2000 and onwards, and look at us today; no flying cars, no jet packs etc. If it was set a hundred years from now, I'd personally not be surprised if nothing was different.
Is Patrick Stewart better as Jean Luc Picard or Charles Xavier?
+Joseph He does an excellent job playing both. However I prefer him as Xavier.
Picard I like Xavier but why they killed him off in Logan that pissed me off.Plus he need to come back I hated James Mcavoy.
If they would've kept the deleted end credit seen with The Wolverine movie.. oml it would've been the best thing ever just for that moment
one thing why I dont watch logan so much is because I always cry at the end and its hard to process that
Nice review, Eric.
Logan was really depressing to me and is my 1st favourite now
Logan's not dying because he's getting so old... The adamantium in his system is poisoning him. Besides this, love your videos man lol!
Speaking of awesome movies like Logan, have you seen Children of Men? That film is an absolute masterpiece and the best science fiction I have personally seen so far this century.
Eric how would u rank The Dark Knight trilogy
Logan is arguably the next great superhero movie that nearly everybody (but not really everybody obviously) will remember fondly for years; the wolverine is basically what Logan eventually became but never could because of the studios and the lack of a good Deadpool movie and real reason to do so.
I really agree with that shade toward the nostalgia critic, he seems so only enjoy classics too, always hating on remakes. (A lot of remakes don't do well but he rarely gives them a chance)
One thing I don't understand is why logan didn't get adamantium poisoning when he lost his healing factor in the wolverine
My top 5 superhero movies. (my personal opinion don't hate haha)
1. The Dark Knight
2. Logan
3. Hancock
4. Avengers: Age Of Ultron
5. The Dark Knight Rises
Missael Guzman-Ramos civil war was alright
Dude, I know that it’s been a while since the dark knight rises came out...like 7 years, but I would actually enjoy sitting through a dark knight trilogy comparison. Because I think that it would be a cool video idea.
The Wolverine was a good movie, except for the last act... But I liked the oriental adaptation.
here is how I think Marvel Studio should continue the story, don't recast Logan make him stay dead and make X23 take the mantle as the All New Wolverine.
We need a vs video on the original trilogy of x men
Logan's healing ability didn't slow down because of his age.
You should do the newer Point Break movie vs The original Point Break
+Corby Cunningham That's a good idea. Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks, you keep up the good work!
“And that’s because the Wolverine isn’t Logan”
5 is a little low for The Wolverine. I'd give it 6.5 to 7.
I remember giving it a 6 when I first saw it in theatres. But after watching it the second time I gave it a 5. I saw Logan twice and I came away with the same 9/10 both times. Thanks for watching and commenting Eddie! I really appreciate it.
Eric Carter did you find the adamantium bullet death lazy?
Steve Rogers No, I personally liked it. It was a good story element to include and it was put to good use in the film's climax.
Keep up the work m8!
Thanks a lot buddy. :D
Logan was being written and made a year before DeadPool came out
10:35 our present day technology? The villain who tried to capture Laura had a half arm being robotic and it was fully functional which is not possible in 2023 so imagine in 2017
What do you think guys?
The Wolverine would've been better if they moved on from Jean's love story, no Viper, Mariko's grandfather actually dead, no Silver Samurai and no ex boyfriend of Mariko.
So that will keep it at a small scale and give room for the important characters to shine. Like Logan, Yukio, Mariko, Mariko's corrupted husband and Shingen Yashida. just five characters that can shine through. Less is more.
For example of what could make the Wolverine better:
- If Logan moved on from Jean, his motivation in the film would be a bit clearer and us as the audience would root for him a bit more
Premise: A Japanese soldier during the Nagasaki bombings in his dying days, gives the reluctant Logan a job to protect Mariko from the Yakuza, Ninjas and her father who prevents her to take her place from her company. (It's simple)
- If Shingen was the main villain, he would be seen as a barrier of honour, just like in the Wolverine comic solo series.
The greater the pressure, the more of Wolverine's character being defined
- No taking away the healing factor.
The Yakuza and ninjas are ruthless to be PG 13
- Speaking of that, the fight scenes could've been a bit longer and a bit more meaningful to the point that you worry for the character like in the film Logan.
That definitely sounds better than what we ended up getting.
There's love between Logan & Prof X, they're just too old to do anything about it. ;)
I really hope your joking.
Steve Lee Whaaa????
Eric Carter So am I.
Lol
i dunno the topless scene was just sorta... because but it was a nice little comedy moment of how wolverine would react. i mean he is a full time limo driver. he can't just claw drunk passengers.
Idk, I think Logan is deserving of that 10
They are both violent movies
All the other scifi films got it wrong man, there are no major change in technology in 2029!
2 for rated R marvel I think they learned a lesson. Will most likely see alot more rated R marvel movies! ^.^Dead Pool and Logan = Great reviews.
Most of Marvel belongs to Disney. So no.
I fell asleep in the theatre while watching the wolverine lol.
Logan felt like how The Wolverine was trying to be. The Wolverine would have been R as well, but sux stud- I mean Fox studios called it off. Hugh Jackman even had to take a pay cut to get this movie R rated.
Logan is better than The Dark Knight. The Dark Knight is so overrated
Doesn’t make it bad
logan was being made before deadpool and was already planned to be r rated
I'm thinking of watching Logan but I'm not sure, thankfully this video helped me
Literaly LOGAN has ben the only marvel movie thats about a fictonal character brought to our world with our sences and emotions and is literali the definiton of GREAT you would want in an R reated and (especialy)
*The Wolverine*
Not gonna lie I just watched Logan and in my opinion it was more fun to watch than the dark knight. I’m not saying the dark knight wasn’t fun it just sometimes felt slow but this was an awesome film
How does your channel not have at least 100,000 subscribers already? you're content is very good. I also agree with you I think Logan is an amazing movie! I do think the nude scene in the movie was unnecessary though.
