I want you to know how much I love your videos. I always learn something even though I have been gardening a long time. Yesterday I rewatched your February 2021 video on grow lights because I'm running out of room on my 2 purchased grow light stands. I am looking forward to seeing all the beautiful varieties of poppies in bloom that you just seeded. I can't wait!! that salmon bread seed poppy is gorgeous!! 😍
I love those poppies, I grew frosted salmon last yr, among others. After one had gone to seed, not sure which, the sides fell off leaving the skeleton, it's the coolest thing I've ever seen.

Trying for the first time this year, myself! Pom Pom style, pale lilac variety. Love to garden but can’t say I’m a natural by any stretch 😂 so wishing us both luck!!
Hello, I just joined your channel last night, I'm retired and just started my journey growing plants my neighbor who lives behind me helped me. Last summer she gave me a Dalah tuber its in the garage don't know what it looks like. I had 3 planters of snapdragons before our below-zero weather last year. I brought them into the garage they were still green and growing. 2 pots died I think they are crispy green. One needed light so I brought 2 sets of grow lights, I see new growth yea. I have one snapdragon it's about 1.5 feet from the house it has so far survived the winter and has little green leaves. And this Christmas my neighbor gave me an Amaryllis its on its second bloom. soon I will be starting my tomatoes, and flowers, Oh I'm in zone 6 along the shores of lake erie im about 3 miles from the lake.
Poppy can really "set off" a garden; although I still don't appreciate the seed pods in cut flower arrangements yet. My volunteer poppies are just starting to bloom. There must have been seeds in whatever soil or mulch that we purchased a long time ago. They look out of place in the pebble/rock border along my path. Maybe this year I will save the seed pods and grow more. I have had little luck in seed saving/propagating but who knows? This maybe the plant that works.
I look so forward to your videos! Those poppies are beautiful, I need to add some to my garden. Danielle, I love your 3 wood chairs behind you in this video, I thought how pretty they would be if you painted them ~ just a thought! Blessings, can't wait to see all your garden tours and all the updates you have done.
Can you please help with identification of the seedlings at different stages of growth? I'm still trying to determine what is weeds and what is flowers. Thanks!
Man, that lilac Pom Pom did horribly in my garden last year. 😢 They grew great but when rain hit the blossoms (even when the buds were just cracking) they would turn to mush and display black spots. My supreme poppies didn’t have the same problem so I was happy to have planted the two varieties. Here in the South, we have to direct seed in early winter to get them to flower before the heat sets in so I have some sweet little plants standing about 2” tall now. 😊 I’m quickly becoming obsessed!
Omg!!!! How beautiful!!!! I am a HUGE poppy lover as well!!! I'm in NC Zone 8a. Can I direct seed poppies now or should I have in the Fall? Thanks Danielle!!
These look GORGEOUS! Do you have any pest pressure when they are first seeded? One of my packages did fine and look great. The second one I sowed completely disappeared after germination. Assuming it was birds/squirrels or? I even covered with frost cloth thinking that would prevent that but sadly no. Any advice?
I love the trellis you have in the corner of the bed, where did you purchase that? I just sowed poppies for the first time. I did not rough up the soil it was a bit wet. Hoping they work out. I am tryin it 3 ways, directly in the garden, winter sowing in jugs and I will put some in flats under lights in the house. The winter sowing in jugs have sprouted. I love all the information you share!
I love oriental poppy flowers, thank you for all the information is very helpful! Can you please tell me where do you get your seeds? I’ll love to get the purple one and the pink, they are gorgeous! And are those perennials? Thank you.
Hi, thanks for the helpful video! Planning to grow my first three poppy varieties this year (sow in Feb in 7a). Do you have any rodent or bird pressure on the seeds? I'm tempted to cover them to keep our very abundant wildlife out...what's your recommendation? Thanks so much! :)
When planted at this time they bloom in June. I have tried a later planting and had them bloom in July. However, it’s so hot and humid here in July that they faded the same day they bloomed.
@@NorthlawnFlowerFarmandGardens thank you very much. Please show uș from time to time the progres of ur poppies. I will sow mine tomorrow and as we are zone 7 , i really hope I will have poppies too🥰🥰🥰
The way you thin them out by cutting them away--is it because poppies don't transplant well? Please give us a link to the watering can you use. Thank you.
So I see the pods open as they mature, if you want to use them for fresh arrangements I assume you pick green and unopened, but what about for dried arrangements or use in wreaths etc- do you let them mature and open and dry on the plant and dump out the seeds, or pick green and dry them so the openings don’t form so seeds don’t ever come out and get everywhere (I hear the seeds can keep coming out of the ripe open pods and as they dry more & more come out), or would they just rot if you did that? I guess just wondering what stage to pick pods if you want to use them dried.
I grow many types of poppies and have some huge ones that I couldn't identify, thank you, now I know they're Breadseed Poppies. I just watched your September garden tour, is that the area that's behind you in this poppy video?

How do you keep your dog out of all that lovely fresh soil?? My Jack Russell would be all over that - there would be no soil left in the raised bed at all.
I taught my golden retrievers to stay out of garden beds by simply telling them an angry no when they stepped into a bed. They stay out of all beds now and they are 2-1/2. Not so much when they were younger.
I am wondering about weather and watering. There is no worry about cold or snow for these seeds/seedlings, right? As for keeping them evenly moist, do you find that you sprinkle them with water every day if there is no rain? I am also in zone 6 but in New Jersey. Last year I tried poppies (very casually😅) by just throwing the seeds out on the soil in January. I had limited to fair success, so I'd like to get it right this year. Thanks!
